Father Nicholas, I am so relieved to know that out God is so far above and beyond our imaginings. The Mystery of our faith is ever consoling. The Mystery places us "to scale" vis a vis our creator. We're small but blessed and beautiful. I wish you all good things.
Hi father, thank you. I am a new catholic, just starting RCIA this week. I spent the last 8 years of my life completely absorbed in the law of attraction and that whole time was dedicated to learning everything I could about the “universe” and manipulating energy to control my reality, because it was very out of control. It works but it’s not god, and it doesn’t work the way you want it to. After that, I’ve come to this realization; God’s will for my life is far greater than my own. Trying to control everything made me have extreme OCD and anxiety, eating disorders, addiction, it was hell.
@@koridevereaux thanks for sharing. I am glad you have a handle on the issues. It is very easy to be sucked into the way of the world and important to turn to Christ and get professional help when appropriate. I will be praying for you.
Thank you, Father. I had been snookered into that thinking a while ago and have friends who still believe. I’ll listen again and will have a better understanding on how it’s not compatible with Church teaching to share with them. Part of the reason I gave the Catholic Church another look (I was away for 40 years and looking for God in all the wrong places, i.e., New Age nonsense) was the joyful people I encountered who knew Jesus through the Catholic faith. Truly happy with where they were in their lives, no need for grandiose living, happy marriages and just normally living their Christian beliefs. God Bless you and all who listen to this message.
Hello Father, thank you for the clear explanations. I still have some New Age books at home, from a time when I did try to find the meaning of life with those books and teachings (written by very famous authors). What should I do with the books? Should I give them to a charity shop? Should I destroy them? Should I put the in the recycling bin?... What would you recommend, Father?... Thank you very much for your help.
Thank you Father. I’ve been thinking about this concept a lot lately as I’ve noticed the trend around social media and how alluring this belief is. I’ve been trying to get a deeper understanding (beyond my own intuition and understanding of the faith) of how this contradicts the faith. One interesting correlation between manifestation and biblical teaching that I would love to get your insight into is the passage around whatever you ask your heavenly father shall be granted to you (I think you can draw some parallels here). I think in the faith we have an understanding that yes we can pray for what we’re seeking, but also ultimately submit to the Fathers will (such as in the Our Father and even the Agony in the Garden) - but I wonder if you might be able to point to additional passages in the Bible to help get a deeper understanding? Would love to explore deeper and I’d like to be able to respond more fully to this “trend” in my own life. Thank you!
Thanks for reaching out Anna. I think there is a deep difference between praying (ask your Heavenly Father) and manifesting. Manifesting seems to be demanding of the universe. Praying is asking your Heavenly Father knowing that He will decide what is best for you. I will keep thinking about this and try to respond to your other question about passages from the Bible. God bless.
Thank you Fr. Nicholas :) I appreciate it. I would love any guidance you can offer as it’s something I see is taking a big hold. I would love to address it in my own writings and would love guidance from a spiritual perspective first. Thank you again for addressing this topic! God bless
I was teach with Law of Attraction. I have a living proof that someone really get all their wants with Law of Attraction. I was given a video and books to read and watch. To be honest, I really cannot follow the video and wanna try to read the book. I read half of the book bcs there is thing I don't agree in there but people around me told me that my life wasn't good enough because I don't read and watch them full and keep on watching and read them multiple time. I currently try to get back to Bible and pray to God for wisdom and strength in my job. I really try to reject that idea but they have a lot way to oppose me for not believing The Secret and Law of Attraction.
My spirit feels so troubled when I think of manifestation. I hadn’t done any research, but that just goes to show that ur spirit knows what’s right and wrong, even when we can’t explain exactly why it feels wrong, it’s God telling us something. Manifestation may work, but it’s scary for the soul because the body thinks it can live without God. And that’s so scary. God bless you!
Thanks for the clear points & guidance, Father. God bless you.

Yes, what would we do without our faith? Such a gift!

Law of Attraction is the same as the Prosperity Gospel.
I wonder if this relates or is similar to “mantras”
It’s so annoying that podcast I like to listen to often do this or talk about it.
