Love the video on ChatGPT!! 😁 For other use cases in PM, I find that it is often really difficult to readily copy pasta work stuff because of client privilege. So I often re-place key words and just present the situations anonymously to brainstorm ways to communicate bottlenecks in projects concisely (if they are taking me too much time to uncomplicate). One thing that I think could be huge value added to PM as chatGPT improves are the analysis of timelines based on historical data from past projects. I think it could help with better prediction of delays, but for sure past project data would need to be compiled with a significant sample size to make it useful. Though I imagine AI could be even better utilized towards the top of organizations with resource management across multiple programs and the projects within those programs. One of the tough spots at work is often prioritization which has to deal with office politics, but if something were in place to make it objective in the decision making (take the ego out of it) then it could be huge value added 🙂 do you think chatGPT could do some first passes at Gantts? I am hoping the plotting function will start to pick up soon as well which could be really nice 😊 sorry just spitballing a bunch here! Love thinking about how we can best utilize AI in PM!
I had no idea you were so interested in this topic Bradley! I recommend you follow Stuart Easton from Transparent Choice on LinkedIn, he's built AI into the project prioritisation of their tool. Interesting idea on the gantt charts - OpenAI also have Dall.e on their site which creates images. Could be that someday the two tools will work together on the combination of data and images.
I did similar test with ChatGPT. And got similar results. In my opinion, such results does not add relevant value. Consider the very situation you showed: Chat GPT writing you a Project Charter. As an experienced PM working in a big company which already have a PMO and samples from previous projects, I wouldn´t take too much time to prepare a PC. Buy I believe that an LLM of an specific tool, fed with specific PM data sets may produce more value adding results.
I asked Andy Kaufman a similar question. His view was that PM jobs are not at threat from AI, but they are at threat from other PMs that can use AI. It's worth checking out the full discussion, it's enlightening: th-cam.com/video/03dHuROh9I0/w-d-xo.html

Do you think AI will replace project managers ?
