This game was FUN!!...I remember going to Florida for Christmas vacation and I would spend the night at my cousins and they would allow him to rent two N64 games...We always got Rush & Wave Race.
This game was A LOT of fun, especially with friends. My first roomie back in 1997 had an N64, and got this game on release. The cars, the shortcuts, the physics, all great. Between this, Blitz, WCW vs NWO, and QB club, you could kill an entire night.
This game taught me San Francisco so well that when I went there as an adult years later I knew the layout of the city better than my friends who had moved there to go to college.

They weren't comfortable driving and so they weren't good at it. I was very comfortable driving and am quite good at it. The layout of the major road and maps were pretty accurate, enough so that major features and directions were recognizable.
So many memories. The secret locations. And the cars. And the cheat codes were so awesome. Especially the giant red ramp and then the underground playground. Being a taxi cab and a hot rod. Collecting keys. So many memories. AHHHH
This game was soo good back in the day. The physics felt great, the shortcuts were awesome and it took skill to keep perfect control of your car when taking the shortcuts so that you would rocket out ahead of anyone else. So much nostalgia.. Until ryhorn77 ruined it by wrecking on each of the shortcuts on map 2.
The gravity wasnt entirely realistic. But it was great. .. n64 is like the actual arcade the ps1 version wasnt the same. I got the ps1 version later... I played it 1 time. . .. n64 kicks it here. .. although the dreamcast copy of 2049 runs spot on.
man i fucking live for “whats your name” ... i put “fuck” a few times and it automatically changed to f*** lmaooooo. so sophisticated and the OST to this game was definitely ahead of it’s time. still listen to Pulp Country and STL on the regular
This game is sooo good. I played it when i was a kid, then re played it as a teenager and all i could think of was how well it aged. Watching gamplay makes me feel is still fun as hell.
the nostaglia is real.....remmeber in the settings menu, z up z down, up down up down, should give u one weight,,,repeat it for two weights, to make your car heavy and repeat that code one more time to get a balloon to make your car extremly light.

Back in 2011 me and my cousin would play this game but unfortunately he passed in 2016 but now in 2022 I have his old Nintendo with the game that we played and soon imma buy a box tv 📺 and I will remember those days playing with him. RIP

The car handling looks different then the arcade version. It is a little hard to tell though, the arcade version of Rush the Rock had such strong force feedback, it physically threw me from the chair as a kid when I wouldn't let go the wheel!

When I first got my N64, Hollywood Video didn't have any copies of GoldenEye so I rented this instead. I played it for HOURS and HOURS. I vividly remember my eyes being sore from drying out because I basically did nothing but play this game and eat Nerds candy. I remember spending so much time trying to explore the maps to find secrets places and short cuts.
This is the first video game I ever played on a console. Easter 2000 I was 4 years old at my grams and my uncle had this game for his N64 in his room. Played it for about 6 hours along with Mario Kart 64 and thus my video game addiction was born. 20 years ago next month.... wow😕

the Second map is you try to jump on top of the bay bridge which is damage and then you get stuck.
Love the little extras, smashing through windows, finding keys, your car all smashed up, love it
