- Mel and Len are a strong-headed pair with very different visions for their day. Mel wants a simple, 'low-maintenance' wedding but Len wants a big bash complete with many Irish trimmings. The catch--he's leaving all the organizing, designing and decision making to Mel as he sits on the sidelines.
I LOVED the scene where she pulled out all their awful $200-300 bridesmaid dresses she was forced to wear 😂😂😂 the ultimate reverse uno card!!

I hate to agree with this bride. But she is right about bridesmaids' dresses. I have worn some very unfortunate (heinous) gowns and never once complained about style or price. It bothers me that all her friends complained about costs but their bridesmaids paid for their gowns.
My theory is if the bride picks, she has to foot the bill. If the bridesmaids pay they get some input in the dress and there has to be a budget that everyone agrees on. I'm with her on te cash bar too. It does look cheap. At least do drink tickets or a drinks pacage
When buying the kilt and the bride was freaking out and asked "how could he do this to me?" I found it absolutely hilarious. Like do what? Be born into a family that didn't have red in their tartan??
Okay. The bride's dress already was a fashion night mare to start with. The tartan not only is a family tartan but grey goes well with the cranberry red. Grey complements well.

Rude, ill mannered, self centered, disrespectful of others, including established rules and regulations in, on, at public n private areas (golf course prime example) .If a child behaved in this manner we would say "spoiled brat" n discipline appropriately. An adult behaving in any or all of the above we would say
"_itch, or A___hole, or trespasser, " n discipline accordingly - warnings, fines, dismissal, press charges, arrest, remove privileges. In acceptable behavior always needs to be addressed no matter the age, gender, socioeconomic status.

I don't know why people think cash bar is so tacky. My husband and I barely drink. You come to my home for a party and I'm not serving alcohol. My side of the family doesn't drink and our church family doesn't drink. A few people of our friends, coworkers, and some people on my husband's side drink. We had a cash bar and no one complained.
Right I’m Muslim but we don’t drink alcohol either just some Christian friends
So if the majority don't drink having an open bar shouldn't have set you back that much, just as those $50-$100-$200 on up cost those guests
Our biggest cash gift was $100. The average was $25-50. The open bar price was $800 for beer/ wine or $1500 for everything. Host bar was not given as an option. My entire wedding budget was only $7000. Nonalcoholic drinks were paid for so everyone had an good selection of drinks that cost them nothing. We by word of mouth told anyone that had a problem paying for alcohol to feel free to take it out of the gift!
@@heanewtoit sounds like you has a lovely day. I am shocked at the average cash gift amount. We were married in 1986 and our average was the same. I am always touched when anyone gifts us. I don't expect it and know the money could be used within the givers family. Very smart how you handled the bar issue. I am not a drinker and was miffed my parents insisted on open bar. It seems to me whenever an open bar is available, people get obnoxiously drunk.
@@debcollins8231 It was a wonderful day. We got married in 2007. We live in area of the US where people just don't make as much. Cash bar is not unusual at weddings either. Our price per person was only $10 plus $2 for the non-alcoholic open bar. I was grateful for any gift given cash or otherwise. Glad someone agrees with me that weddings aren't always but how much you get on either side of the invitation.

Most weddings I've been to have cash bars. If you want to drink you pay for it. Nothing cheap about that. And I have always paid for my bridesmaid's dress when I was in a wedding.
It's considered really rude in a lot of places; basically skimping on being a host. Older generations in particular find it tacky. Have a few drink tickets per guest, cut spirits out of the tab, have a drinks package or a set number of drinks on the table if you want to save money.

Here in the UK, we usually pay for our own drinks at a bar. It’s a rare thing to have a open bar, and most Brits take that as the norm at a wedding.
Just as well, because give most Brits an open bar and they'll drink themselves unconscious.
African, Caribbean and Asian weddings in the UK, don't have cash bars. We never do and I'm Caribbean. I've been to all of those weddings and we like open bars. No one ever takes the piss or goes overboard drunk. It's normal for us and abnormal to have cash bars.
Yeah, I don't agree with the wedding planner. Cash bar is appropriate if you pay for decorations. But I only saw chair covers at the reception and the Alter was boring.

Nah UK is often open bars of some form. Drink tickets are becoming popular with the younger generation as weddings get more expensive.

The bride's behavior throughout is shameful - petulant, self-centered, disrespectful and with complete disregard of her groom's wishes. The last person I saw throw hissy fits like the ones she threw with the groomsmen at the shop for kilts, looking at tiaras and flowers was a toddler. Absolutely no class. Her family must be so embarrassed watching this and her wedding planner should have walked off the job - I'm pretty sure her duties did not include being harassed and bullied. This relationship is doomed.

My husband and his brother and dad wore kilts. Although I was initially against it, it turned out awesome. I nixed the bagpipes but it would have been cool looking back. His family has Scottish heritage so it’s something he really wanted.
Is this a “Wedding heading for a Disaster,” when there’s no communication skills, prior to getting married, there’s a problem. How will they possibly communicate after the wedding is completed.

Not everything has to be matchy matchy. Colors can complement each other and I think their colors did very well.
Open bar, cash bar. Its doesn't matter. Well some people will be mad they gotta pay for their drinks. Yes, but oh well. Those people will just have to deal with it. Some weddings don't even have a bar period. They have one bottle of wine or champagne for each table and that's it.

I have been a guest at no alcohol, open bar and also cash bar weddings. Guests are more responsible at cash bars and the host is not a part of enabling or a DUI. I don't have a problem with a cash bar and neither should anyone else. They are hosting, we are guests, it is their prerogative. If someone attends a reception because of the free booze there is an issue. Ug, you are not a princess you are a bride. I bought my veil at a hobby shop and sewed on pearls that matched my dress, 30 minutes, $30 and done. BTW many men do care about the details they don't want to deal with the bride. I've two adult male friends who love their wives and dislike the memory of their weddings. Love the look of her dress, you'd be able to wear that again. Love the idea of the pants as they'd be more likely to wear them again.
Cash bars are tacky. You already have to pay for flights hotel car rental gift to charge a guest for a drink is tacky.
People don't go to weddings for the free booze. But it is an insult to your guests, who have dressed up, driven there, given up their time and given you a gift; to then be expected to foot the bill for their own refreshments,.alcoholic or not. There are cheaper and more restrictive ways than a.fully open bar though
I have literally never been to a wedding with an open bar, it's certainly not considered cheap where I am from. There is usually a bottle of wine or two on the table, some juice and perhaps sherry or a cocktail. If you want to Booz pay for it yourself
Absolutely, when they have to pay for their own drinks they'll drink less which means fewer drinks,no fights and no wrecks .!!!!!we went to a wedding years ago where a guest got drunk and ran into a field of kids playing and killed 3 little girls .true story !!
The only open bar wedding I went to was my own. I just wanted wine but my dad insisted on open bar and since he was paying he got his way.
Loved the Dress scene, fell over laughing with the Golf Course scene, at one stage I had it at the back of my mind to perhaps do a planner course to specialize in wedding planning....this bride has successfully undone any conceivable thoughts of doing that now....she is exhausting!!! I am disgusted with Angeliques Fee?? To top it off they were under $600.00 budget!!
I was a coordinator a few years back. It’s normally not the bride that’s a nightmare.. it’s the mother’s. Grooms moms are just as bad btw.
If you are really interested,, go to a bridal shop or find a coordinator. See if you can intern for free for a bit. It’s a much better way to see if you really like it or not.👍

Wow I wrote this before she was ultimately rude to the planner. The planner worked so hard on the photo coaster and Mel says "I don't like it".
The planner only cost $1k she should have got 3x the amount.
Yeah, I couldn't believe how rude she was to the pipers. If she didn't want them you would think she would just say, "Ok thanks, we'll have to have a think about it and see if it is in our budget." Putting her fingers in her ears was just so childish and rude!

I definitely am not a fan of when wedding planners talk people into spending money they don't want to spend. I would personally rather pay for my own drinks then put a couple into debt over it. I imagine many of these couples are divorced before the wedding is paid off.

This couple is super toxic, the woman is a spoiled, childish, self centered. Their children will experience damaging fights of their parents every single day, up until they got divorced. She will abuse their children and he will look away, never protecting the children. My parents got divorced after 2 decades of toxic marriage, when we were already adults. We (children) ended in a therapy... I hope they will go separate way before any child comes. She is very immature and manipulative and proud of it. These two resemble my parents way too much! Ouch!

Maybe this bride is at a #7 on the obnoxious scale and they jack her up to a #10. But someone has noted on here that per Facebook, they are divorced.

Okay, so, that part where she went to the golf course to get her groom's opinion on the flowers. I get that she looks like a psycho. But, I get why she got mad. He was supposed to meet with them to discuss flowers. But, instead decided that going golfing was more important. Like, I get it, he would rather go golfing. But don't agree to meet to talk about flowers then run late because you decided you wanted to go golfing. How about instead you say, "you know what, babe, flowers aren't really my thing. You go head and make the decision. It's fine. This way it's done and we don't have to worry about it." Don't disrespect her time by saying you're gonna meet when you don't want to.
this woman is a nasty petulant child, the guy wasn't much better, i couldn't believe she had any guests, the golf course scene made me think that the inevitable divorce is going to be crazy.

She did stick to budget.I love the pizazz the tartan and red pops gave to the simple wedding.The color of kilt with the red bodice gave me vibes of Scotland/Ireland by the sea,or colonial americana/ new england.Pulling out the bridesmaids dresses was cute.least fav was the coral pink,and the green lining of the first.the purple would have been better if they ripped off the bottom.liked a couple of the ones she threw on the ground colorwise ok.But... big deal a lot of girls say they're gonna sell it after ,get their money back ; someone wants to pick it up for prom or other,and hey ...if there's a site that'll take and sell the dresses as a bunch if the girls post/donate at the same time some other budget conscious bride can get something nice.Either that or donate it to an organization that can sell it for charity .

Cash bar at a wedding reception is neither cheap nor in bad taste! I nor my hubby R not drinkers so know way would I pay to give people unlimited access to liquor OMG...The champagne toast we had was more than sufficient anything after that is on the guest.
It’s funny because I absolutely LOVE this show and keeps me conscious about budget. Gives me ideas on how and where to save, I’m 95% done with the planning of my dream wedding and I’m not even engaged yet! It’s a super flexible plan too so I’m glad I found this show to catch some inspiration!
