This is definitely going to be my next synth purchase. Cost of living has put a pause on that for a while though. Hopefully they will have a sale in the near future.
the colour of cream is giving 70s. i adore the chassis and palette choice. with the modern fixings on top, such as the mod matrix it just this very hybrid bit of class of mixing the old with the new. seeing there's so much chiming in on the aesthetic.
This can be compared to a CS80 which is $62,000 on reverb. What this thing does makes it an absolute bargain. The super Gemini is $500 more. The first comment on just about every video for this is price. A Volca is a great affordable alternative.
Hi Kevin. Respectfully, the CS-80 can’t do or sound a fraction of what this synth can. I bought mine new in 1980 and it held up just fine over the decades but seriously, no comparison relatively speaking with the exception of poly touch, the ribbon and one modulation paddle. Quite frankly, without the iconic status ( because of all the hype over the years ) if they were both just made now, it would be hard pressed to pop a few hundred $ to give for the 80. Jmho.
@@maxmeier532 it’s obviously relative to cost. What are you getting for your purchase? Some say that sky’s the limit. Most people have to weigh the difference in terms of monetary value. For me? Buying an old, heavy and maintenance hungry synth that sounds like a synth organ in this day and age would be foolish.
@@maxmeier532 Can you purchase a car , driving it in a sim you cant afford? Fact is, No matter how it sounds, its how it drives.... I wrote Arturia, a nice young lady replied she had no official knowledge of if/ when the " noir " edition would be available. That was about a month ago. I was going to hold out for a black edition, but am going to get on the waiting list for this, and if/ when a noir edition hits, I will definitely get that,
Fantastic synth, deeply disappointing Arturia decided to chase the top end price market for the sake of it… I guess it’s more profitable to sell 5000 units at that price then 6000 units at 3000-3500$.
Given the extra voices, we don’t think the price jump is unfair, but this is certainly a synth out of reach of many users. We’d love to see the new aftertouch implemented on the more affordable 6 voice version too
They developed a complete new keybed for it. R&A is the most expensive and Arturia keeps inventing in the area. I'm so happy for that. Also Arturia is a company that offers synths and controllers in every pricing range.
(sigh) It’s so lame compared to what can be done in the box. 🤷♂️ Why do they even bother? Serum would destroy this thing… with a single filter mind you. Phaseplant and Vital would wipe the floor with it. Arturia’s own Pigments 5 leaves it in the dust. What is the point of more oldschool synths that can’t even load multiple wavetables and have super complex modulation?? I just don’t get it…
Does the box has touch enabled keybed, Morpee, sequencer/matrix with hardware grid, a touch slider and hands on? For me having everything hands on leads to so many happy accidents.
Yeah although I think this thing shines at very high frequencies. Those oscillators are pristine at 10k and up. It's crazy. Area that software is just a little behind still I think. You also need to be more heavy handed with the polybrute. Detune more, not as much in the way of effects and such. That Steiner Parker filter is pretty magic when push comes to shove. It's less pristine than say the SEM filter. More grit but just as beutiful. Can you make this count in a track? Most modern production is just Ableton and Serum and it sounds great at the end. So you gotta ask yourself is it worth to you? And those are questions that probably extend to more intangibles than just core sound. But I do'nt know I don't agree that core sound is nothing special. Those oscillators are pretty nice when you stick to the basics and are heavy handed.
@@michaeltwiz8477 Well to each their own. I have had no problem getting massive, and I mean absolutely massive, basses out of Polybrute with the Steiner filter. And I think, as always, if you as a producer can't get something usable out of an instrument it's sometimes the instrument but more often than not I would say it's the user. E.g. I can make a guitar player comment on how shitty my guitar is in a mix when it's really just a Kurzweil synth and some basic trickery regarding playing. That's what it's about though. But yeah I mean, preferences are preferences right. CAn't take issue with that.
Terrible knobs, terrible sliders, bling bling modwheels, terrible colors............. It looks like a crappy cheap chinese hairdryer from WISH or something like that.............🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
I buyed one and waiting for that great synth! thanks for introducing!
Congrats!

I can buy a VST who can do what none of the above can. Does it make the VST the best choice?

I love Prog Rock. Synthesizers have their place in Heavy Rock as well
I like the color of this synth. Why 12 voices when you can have 16 voices? Nice demo.
I’ll wait for the noir.

Very nice. A SUPER GEMINI, It ain't...
Great, reminds me of u-He Diva
It´s still the Super Gemini for me.. But this sure is a massive sounding synth..
The Super Gemini just sounds incredible. I picked up an SG a couple weeks ago and it has just amazed me with the quality and warmth of it's sound.
Flashy…but it ain’t no Super Gemini. Addendum: super Gemini paired with a Seaboard Rise 2! Now THAT is true 5-Point MPE.
💗💢Rockin 💢💗👍👍
Interstimg keyboard expression, but my MPE controller just remarked, “It’s like MPE, only not.”
Apologies…my controller is a bit caddy at times.
Not getting warm and fuzzy about it. …but…that’s just me
Warm and fuzzy as in TEO 5 …. INHALT VIDEO? is that what you mean
@@dougie6897 about the poly brute 12

GIive me the OB-X8
Please tell me they don't use those horrible rubberised knobs that break down over time!
@LeVoisin38did not know that! Thanks
@LeVoisin38 I thought the same...and I hope they improved their keybeds, because they were not so great
The color for me is unbearable to look at everyday hopefully they will make a noir version.

Having a DAW and everything that entails is vastly more important.
For a $5k keyboard, it doesn’t even have wavetables… just boring, and weak.

Waste of money, you can get all those sounds with a 15 year old vst
Then do it and report back.
The Yamaha montage M is also a vst
Maybe not with many 15 year old ones, but there's certainly VSTs of now that I prefer
hideous colour = deal breaker
The core sound is nothing special and this demo is horrible.
