You are honestly the best car reviewer on TH-cam. No frills, no gimmicks, no padding out of videos to make it unnecessarily long. Just straight to the point and simple. Keep it up.
He is. So many annoying guys, some where shorts and a t shirt to review high end cats they can't afford. I think they aren't being respectful to themselves or to the car company. But they are young and weren't taught anything in school, so we are pretty much dealing with high tech neanderthals that have speech patterns like women and love to pet door trim(to see if it's good enough for THEM)
Thanks, Steve. A great review as always. Really well timed. Spent two days ago driving mom’s X3, and yesterday driving dad’s 530e. Maybe I’m nuts, but I was happy to get back into my Kias at the end of the day. The BMWs were fine, but nothing that made me aspire to want one. Zero style. Absolutely infuriating interface. Kept thinking that for the price of the 530, I could almost have (almost) a Golf/Civic R for me AND a Subaru for the kid. Maybe an M5 would make me feel (very) different, but if a 5-Series doesn’t speak to a white collar mid-50s guy like me, then something is wrong with me (quite possible) or with BMW. And, as I will say to anyone who will listen: STOP QUILTING THINGS. I hate that!
The styling is certainly blander by today's BMW standards but I felt very comfortable in this car though I could see how some would be immediately turned off by the tech assault. This is where a dealership quickie test drive will do a disservice. It takes several days before you establish a connection.
I couldn`t agree with you more. I`m in my mid 50`s with an income that puts me square into BMW`s crosshairs. I owned several BMW`s in the 90`s, two 5`s, two 7`s and I really want to like the new 5. Unfortunately, the car does not inspire me like the old ones did. I don`t know what it is but I can`t bring myself to buying one. Maybe the 550 would help me overcome the hesitancy but I`m worried about spending 90 k on a car and then not like it.
BMW did a really good job with the 5 series lineup across the board. Gone are the days of hardly seeing a BMW with an M badge, now it seems like BMW is slapping an M badge on anything.
nice review but was expecting a bit more commentary on the driving and handling aspects. we are mostly aware of the tech and luxury that BMW offers based on the other models.
"The $3,200 Dynamic Handling Package adds continuously adaptive dampers and roll stabilization to the lowered and tuned M Sport Suspension providing a very luxurious yet confident ride backed by the rear-biased xDrive system promoting sportier handling. These staggered-width summer-use tires also contribute to that feeling but do produce some noise. The various drive modes are exciting but I’d rather the system default to Adaptive and not Comfort upon startup. All told, it’s wonderfully composed even when pushed too far but never overtly sporty in its persona."
My dilemma also! I have a M340i and having owed all sorts of M cars it offers the best balance of size, performance, engine note and economy and easy to drive and doesn’t really attract too much attention. However love the LCI 5 series and not sure whether to upgrade to a 540i, 550i or even the M5 though that would be hard to be discreet with. I have a family and even though no longer a boy racer love and buy purely to appreciate the engineering effort to produce these cars. Just confused!
@@TopGunManny 540i larger car however M340i wolf in sheep’s clothing. Lethal performance yet excellent economy and comfort mode makes it drive like a 540i.
I would probably pick this over an Audi A6 & Mercedes E-Class even though those are also beautiful cars, but lease only of course. I would love to own a german vehicle, but I'm much better off with my current 2016 Lexus GS350 F-Sport that I've had for three years so far with no problems as expected & will likely cost much less for maintenance & repairs in the long run.
Are you insane, the tail lights have got to be the most gorgeous thing ever. No seriously look at one especially at dusk or Dawn, and tell me it isn't amazing. I was going to throw my car in the garbage the first time I saw one in the garage. 😂
Too many distractions in this car. Last thing I want is any driver screwing around with all of these toys distracting them from tweeting, texting, shaving, applying makeup, playing the guitar or eating.
This car is like an Instagram model sexy, beautiful, excellent curvy body, but can’t cook for shit, lol 😂 not wifey material. Same here : Excellent driving dynamic, a lot of technology, beautiful materials, but unreliable’s fuck 🤣🤣🤣
Or wait 3 years then the beamer is worth like 33% of what is was could get it for 20 grand they drop in price like crazy especially now that they are coming out with new cars all the time
Too bad BMW doesn’t put all that money, innovation, tech into a FULLY ELECTRIC CAR and lead the way to a cleaner environment. Oh wait ... Audi already beat them in that game 👍🏻
If you have to cruise at highway speeds or longer you want a gas engine. Even if it is 48-volt like this or plug-in like my CT6 which can go nearly 600 miles is something EV cannot match today. In Car & Driver testing the CT6 pulls away from the 540i from 100 mph on up and pulls ahead about 3 seconds. Most of the Tesla models are trending water after 100 mph.

So true, I don't understand those 30 minute videos... I think most of the features can be covered a lot quicker
This is the nicest review I’ve seen on a modern BMW in months. Refreshing.
I just got my car last week I so love it I’m still learning it the drive is so smooth. It’s fully loaded with the cognac interior ❤️❤️❤️.
You won’t be mistaking this 5 for a 3. Nice job on the update BMW.
Is it sarcasm?
Been watching for a while. Your videos are to the point and concise. Definitely deserve more views!
I appreciate that!
Steve. You handed us a great review as usual. This is good stuff
Thank you kindly
Thanks Axe! You are among the best. 👍
You're the best!
I like the look of my 2017 540I more than the new one. My only regret was not getting the Nappa Leather and Bowers and Wilkins sound system.
This facelift 5 series is amazing looking imagine when they are 20 grand in a couple years
Worth the wait I say!
You deserve more subscribers!
Working on it!
*Nice to see a car without an oversized cancerous grill.*
I was thinking the same thing
🎉🎉🎉 excellent review
Thank you 🤗
Great video on this BMW 540i! It was definitely one impressive automobile to drive.
Yes it was!

Great video, I love the facelifted 5 series! My mum had the facelifted f10 back in 2014 and it was a great comfortable car :)
Very nice!
Great video, great tech on that 540i! I have the BMW assistant in my new X3, however she doesn't have the function to change the temperature sadly :(
Thanks for the info!
Best modern BMW.
Rear heated seats are available as an individual option.
Sir wht color is the seat
Mocha

Fair point.
2021 M340i xdrive or 540i xdrive? Which you picking?
Depends on your size

@@ro5338 curious why thinking of changing? I'm looking into both the m340i or the 540i soon. Choosing between power or more elegant style.

A manual please. Bigger seats, thinner center thing.
And finally... Android Auto is available for a BMW.
Surprised that you tester didn’t have winter rubber. By the way, what tires were on that 5 Series?
The M Sport package with the 19" wheels come with Michelin Primacy 3 ZP summer run-flats.
How reliable is it ?
Yep. Depreciates by HALF in 3 years, major COSTLY $$$ repairs after that

2:11 I like everything about the facelift except the taillights. The taillights look like they are wearing some heavy mascara.

well steve then you should see genesis and tesla for all those features

BMW nice to Lease, Rent and Test drive but that's it. Maintenance issues in a few years.
Take the 78 k and buy a 0 options 550I.
That 550i better and fast
Don't forget to stick that M in front of it ;-)
It is the same old interior. Not better than Mercedes. Seats are better in the Mercedes.

Not much of a review to be honest. More like a quick overview.
Did you watch the right video?
I'll wait 3 yrs so I pay 50 percent less.
Poverty spec lol, doesn't even have Bowers & Wilkins audio..
I say buy Kia Stinger and enjoy heated rear seats. Put the rest of the money saved and mail it to me. TY

No thanks. V8 540i please!
Proper cars have combustion engines. Elec cars are carts like on a golf course. Better off with a bike as nil damage to the environment!
“Cleaner environment” ever heard of dieselgate. Sounds like Audi sure does love the environment 😂

Sedans are boring overall. Been there done that.
SUVs suck
Nice to drive but inside vs the Merc its just not enough
