    Can’t wait! Have you ever done Amish Friendship Bread? I did for about a year. It outgrew my ability to “contain“ it! But, it was delicious!! Take care! Stay safe! Prayers and Blessings always

    I swear by King Arthur flour. The gluten free in this b rand is fantastic. Now I also use the regular.

    I started mine with just flour and water and it was active in a week. I names mine Olivia because I started it in an Olive Jar lol

    Well I am a little slow apparently. Do you have to feed it everyday for the rest of its life? Constantly taking some out and then feeding it again? And how do you keep the discard? On the counter? In fridge? How long is the discard good for? I did figure out that one of the must do's is giving it a name. So there's that.

    • @BootsandBountyHomestead
      @BootsandBountyHomestead  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ok, so yes, you feed it as long as you are trying to keep it active and bubbly for baking. When not in use, put it in the fridge and feed it the same amount once weekly so it doesn't starve. When it tells you to discard, you can keep it on the counter for a day if you are going to use it the next day, or you can keep it in the fridge for up to 7 days if you need to add more to it for a recipe. After that it gets too sour. You can also make the discard of an active starter another starter, just do it the same way you would the original starter you have as well. It's alot to explain until you get hands on with it and figure out what you actually have to do. I have ran myself ragged making bread and not known how to stop and I have let my starter set for months and killed it....so, you have to figure out you and how much you need for recipes, how to plan ahead, how to increase or decrease the amount for what you need. It's not hard, it makes you learn fast 😂

    I worked for a lady who got an over one hundred year old starter from her mother in law. A visitor to her house poured it down the sink thinking it had gone bad😟

    I came looking for your cream of dry mix, couldn’t find it, but found this. I bought a starter off of eBay last winter and was waiting until it got warmer to activate it. I forgot about it, so thanks for reminding me. Now, I just need to find the perfect jar for it.

    • @BootsandBountyHomestead
      @BootsandBountyHomestead  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      a wide mouth jar is best.
      for the dry mix, search condensed soup mix boots and bounty homestead in the search bar. If I can share it here, I'll come back and put the link in for you.

      @@BootsandBountyHomestead Hi again! I have Otis but waiting to start using it. Could you please give the time line as when to start the process, like should you start in the morning and what time, and when to actually bake the bread? Before, when making from a starte, I would end up making bread till wee hours of the night. I hope you understand my question. Thanks so much!

      @PWood-cu3le go look at my sourdough bread in a day video that I did in May (it'll have 24k+ views on it). Once it goes in the fridge, you can wait 1hour to 3 days before you bake it. Don't make it complicated! Don't let it own you, it's REALLY simple!
