It doesn't need to break the bank. If you hunt for parts you can actually get some great deals. I have seen so many great projects over the years. Cobra body for 1k, gt40 body for 2k. You can make a great project for under 5k spread across 2/3 years 👍 the key is to always be on the look out for parts, it's amazing how cheep things can be if you get the timing right on auctions that end during the week.
Thank you, should have the next video out (bodyshell overview) in a few days. Then just a last one regarding the chassis and interior - and then the real fun work starts.
Thanks - don't worry, we won't be abandoning it. If anything, putting this out for the world to see makes us more determined to finish it properly. Lol
Love builds like this, awesome stuff mate. Really looking forward to seeing it come together. A little longer videos would be great but not complaining. 👍
Thanks for having a look. Yeah, I need to work on the videos a bit more in terms of content (and with improved audio as well), so hopefully they'll be better to watch going forward.
looking forward to the build. Hoping you can show us the whole process and not just a review of what was done. Especially the work being done to the engine and driveline.
Absolutely. There are some small parts of it we aren't equipped to do ourselves, but otherwise we'll document as much as possible of everything else being done.
Me too. Yeah it hard setting up cameras while building. It's suprizing how much it realy slows a project down. I struggle with this. I suppose time laps are a good compromise 🤔 I am excited to see more 👍
I'm excited to watch your journey with this build. Seems like planning is key to making this project a success! good luck and take lots of pics because someday, I will want to have a project like yours!
Have a look in Davide Cironi’s video on their Countach replica project. As of the engine… like some other guys said, ITBs, stand alone ECU, low back pressure exhaust, some lightening/modification of the flywheel etc and some compression ratio increase would be more than enough! Keep it simple.
Subscribed just to see this beast come to life. Good luck with the journey, although, i reckon the s600 v12 wouldve been a better choice engine. Hint: same one in the pagani, a bunch of work, but pretty much the same engine bruv
Not for the time being. We're going to run it as N/A for now - being (apparently) closer to 300hp stock, we're sure with a less restrictive exhaust / intake etc we can bump those figures up a bit.
@GarethBargate I'm sure it will sound glorious. There's a Japanese builder of headers that makes some insane creations, made the s600 sound like a super car. If I can find it I'll post it here
Absolutely, the next video has been filmed already - just need to edit it. It's a more in-depth look at the body, talking about minor changes that need to be made, what we're keeping etc.
The background music is covering up some of what you're saying, when you're talking lower it makes it hard to hear what you're saying. The background music should be lowered a bit more than what you have it, or talk a bit louder. But anyways, I'm looking forward to this project.
@GarethBargate they have a great support team. I can get the Head Office team to contact you if that helps. Or the Link team. Both are very very helpful and like helping TH-cam channels
Are you going to be able to make the 455 BHP from the Toyota V12? Props for the decision. And if you can trust any V12 - it's gotta be one from Toyota, right? But getting good power is going to be the main problem, I think. 280 Horses is far too few for a Countach replica. Hell, my 2-litre flat-4 EJ20 makes 360! Any plans for half-bar twin turbos?
Stock they (apparently) make closer to 300hp. I'm sure with a much less restrictive exhaust, intake etc we can bump the numbers up a bit. Interesting you mention EJ20. I've been through three EJ25s in my life. But now also have a 13B RX7 FD3S - this will hopefully be the "reliable" JDM car. Lol
Really cool project! these toyota engines are very robust. I chose the jag v12 for my replica (front engine car) hope I don't regret it. MS3pro evo seems like the best way to control anything NA with more than 8cyl.
Looks awesome 😎 I vote for ITB's for the looks and the sound 🤩 maybe 12 into one exhaust... I wonder how much work is needed to get this V12 up to say 500hp NA?
12 to 1 Surprisingly creates alot of raspyness, It's best to take each bank seperately then merge them. Its very difficult to squeeze more power out of n/a, you cant get more air in, so you can't add more fuel. You can only play with timing and compression. The best way ti get more power out of n/a is higher octane fuel. 👍
Sounds like a very reasonable plan. I am on a similar path planning phase. I am curious if the shop that you are using for the trans adapter has any experience with the Merc M120 to boxster gearbox, that is if you'd be willing to pass on the question and let me know contact info or etc if the answer is yes. Looking forward to updates on your end.
@@geniusanthony I may be using the OE gearbox first to get the car certified. But I will be machining my own adapters for the audi 01E when the time comes. I will be rebuilding the 01E to make it more robust with stronger syncros. You just have to be careful matching a gearbox to an M120, they're high torque engines. The original 722.362 merc autobox made just for the m120 is rated for 1000NM and uses rubber cush drives. Yeah I love the idea of a manual M120 😍 I am chasing that zonda experience so I can take the thing on roadtrips. I will do my best to document my findings as my V12 build progresses 😎👍
Subbed! Nice build. You should mill the heads, open up the ports, and have someone grind you some cams. This mill could make 450hp reliably without breaking a sweat.
Thanks for checking it out. We're going to discuss this week about doing a "mild" build on the engine - it was originally going to be left as is, but since people are interested in it, I think it deserves some more attention.
Wow 😮 thats some big gains from just airflow and timing. Have you done this to your N/A engine? improving airflow in and out definitely help gain power👍
@@UKBUILT An aftermarket cam and heads will take an LS motor from about 300hp to over 500hp. There is no reason to believe that similar mods would not bring similar gains to such a motor as this.
@@JMGilberto nice 👍 I didn't think it made much difference on NA engines as theres no boost. Thats big gains. I wonder what is actually creating more power 🤔 if its at 1 bar cylinder pressure with 14:1 airfuel mix it can't be given any more fuel. I know airflow in and out makes a difference to making it easier for the engine to breath thus getting more power. NA tuning intrigues me as its much more difficult than just adding boost. I will have to look at getting some cams made for my m120 v12 and getting the heads ported 🤔
@@UKBUILT provided the bottom end can stand the stress, raising the effective RPM of maximum power has a lot to do with this (largely a function of your cam timing). Remember; HP is work expressed. More bangs = more ponies. Spin it faster, you make more power, you express more work. Since an engine is just an air pump, porting allows you to move more air through it. Do more of this at a higher RPM's effective powerband, and there it is.
Im doing the same engine into a 240z. Got the z trans mounted to the engine and fabricated the headers. @adamturbo1 . Let me know if you need any info .
@@GarethBargate yes. Cut off the century bell housing and modded welded it to the 240 trans. Funny enough the ring gear size and tooth count is the exact same. Used the 240z flywheel and clutch , Toyota starter motor. Only needed to refill flywheel to match the v12 crank.
I have thought how great this would be for many years. But. No money in the bank to try such a huge project. Can't wait to watch for more.
Thanks for checking it out. It is a big cost, but all new boring cars are a big cost as well - may as well spend it on something different. Lol

One look at the title of this clip and I am a follower. Wow.

Great build, just please fix up the audio

When you put throttle bodies and a bespoke exhaust with low back pressure, the power will increase dramatically.
That is part of the plan. The engine cover is raised (since it's a 5000QV rep), so we should have space to fit some ITB's.
