    Very cute! One way to hold the patch and/or the trim onto the skirt (instead of pins), is to use a glue stick. You still must sew it, but it holds it for you and doesn’t distort things like pins can on thick patches or fabric.

    • @Carol-Bell
      @Carol-Bell 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Katie Love I’m not sure. There are products like Glue Baste-It and Lapel Stick that are made for sewing that would do the same thing, but are possibly better for the needle. I’ve never had a problem. I use just enough to merely hold it on while I’m sewing. With the appliqué you could just use glue stick in the center to hold it onto the fabric and then stitch around the edges like you normally would. For me it is fast and works way better than pins, which distort when the patch/appliqué or fabric is thick.

    Great idea to turn the sneakers into saddle shoes with a Sharpie!! I am old enough to remember my red circle skirt with black poodle and matching red cardigan with the smaller poodle on top! A wonderful memory from when I was a little girl in the fifties..

    My daughters poodle skirt turned out perfect! Used silver 2in elastic, pink felt, silver ric rac and a black poodle dog. I just hot glued the ricrac and the poodle dog. And we added a gem on the dogs eye! So stinkin cute! Thank you! (Hot glue didnt hold up well on the poodle but lasted through the night, I'll use the iron on it to affix permanently).

    Fifties "poodle" skirts often did have various other patches besides poodles, so you are right on the money, Dana! I remember vinyl records were a popular patch. Or dice might be nice. Or a hairbrush and mirror would be adorable!

      Fold the fabric in four

    • @MyLifeMyExpression
      @MyLifeMyExpression 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, it means fold the fabric in half and then half again. The open edges of the fabric well be on two sides and the folded over edges will be on the other two sides. You would cut the waist from the corner that has the folded edges. This makes the circle so no need for seams.
      Try folding a tissue and cut the folded corner to end up with a circle. Then you'll feel confident cutting your fabric once you've got it.
