  • Brisbane, Australia - The Kangaroo Point Bridge project has achieved a new milestone with Marr Contracting's M2480D tower crane successfully installing the final piece of the 95-metre mast.
Key challenges included constructing the mast without disrupting river traffic. Working in collaboration with the BESIX Watpac-led consortium Connect Brisbane and engineers, Robert Bird Group, Marr's innovative solution allowed the 25m tall, prefabricated steel masthead weighing 180 tonnes to be lifted to 95 meters.
The lift, one of over 10 major lifts managed by Marr on the project, was an engineering feat that would not have been possible with a more traditional approach using crawler cranes.
