I find it suspicious that when the peaceful protests started a month ago these houses were guarded heavily with barricades and security personnel but when the rajapaksa’s bribed and blackmailed poor poverty ridden people of Sri Lanka to cause violence and attack the peaceful protesters that demanded a system change, these houses were open to the public to come and vandalize. It’s as if the rajapaksa’s are forever plotting to keep them in power. Make them look like the victims of violence instigated by themselves. So they can make it seem like their lives are threatened so they can get a fleeing ticket out of the country after all the turmoil they’ve caused🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️

The BRI initiative was started in 2013, The Singapore company gave up the management rights. In 2016, the newly-elected government decided to privatise an 80% stake of the port to raise foreign exchange in order to repay maturing sovereign bonds unrelated to the port. Of the two bidding companies, China Merchants Port was chosen, which was to pay US$1.12 billion to Sri Lanka and spend additional amounts to develop the port into full operation. In July 2017, the agreement was signed, but CMPort was allowed a 70% stake. Simultaneously a 99-year lease on the port was granted to CMPort. Note that China only accounts for 10% of Sri Lanka loans. Western media has been running a smear campaign against China based upon false information

Sri lanka forces not involved to this incident. Innocent people were attacked by a group of thugs who support the government. Thereafter the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna (JVP), which could not gain state power through a popular vote, spread terror throughout the country. If the sri lankan army had not intervened in this incident the janatha vimukthi peramuna would have destroyed the whole country by now. We love always our forces.
The repairs and/or reconstruction of all the damaged/destroyed properties wil be paid for by the people (tax payers) including those who took part in the violence. Their anger is understandable, but Sri Lanka's sorry state started years ago, and the people should have acted back then (e.g. by voting in leaders with integrity). Sri Lanka will not recover that fast by taking the path of violence. Sure they succeeded in forcing the corrupt leaders out, and I wish the people all the best, but they must also understand that it will take them years to rebuild and recover what have been lost.
