Tim Akerman wrote this song for his brother after an accident left him paralyzed from the waist down, I believe. (I read this elsewhere but can't recall where.) If Floor was a recording artist in the USA...she would be beyond famous! But...considering she is the lead singer of one of most famous bands in Europe, South America, Mexico, Japan etc...and more and more Americans are becoming members of the Nightwish Army...Nightwish is gaining in popularity here in the US.
This is so 2019 ;-) During covid and after Beste Zangers Floor started a solo career next to her main job at Nightwish. At the Pinkpop Festival this year, about 100 km south of where she grew up, she did two shows on one day, first her solo show featuring Henk Poort and then later the Nightwish concert.
I often hear about how talented/wonderful/amazing/powerful Floor is. And she is. But more than any of that, she is PRACTICED. She wasn't born able to do this. She trained herself to do this. Is there a physical capability involved? Of course, but it's not like she's some mutant doing things others have no chance of replicating. She put in the work singing, she put in the work in her education, she put in the work listening to other singers. That gave her the context in her mind to imagine this performance, and the delicate, masterful control over her instrument to make that imagined performance a reality. This is dedication in action.

When I first heard this, I couldn't tell where and when the goosebumps started or ended. She is just out of this world. I think the fact that she can deliver emotions so well with her voice is somehow connected to the fact that she is a hypersensitive person. Greets from Germany!
Great that you are a fan of Floor Jansen (pronouced "yonsin") and Nightwish as well. Can HIGHLY recommend you react to Nightwish's Poet and the Pendulum. So many ranges in Floor's vocals and are it is so perfect!! Careful though...if you read the backstory on it, you will have to have a box of tissues when you react to the song.
Floor is great, and she is great in this particular show. "Beste Zangers" is a Dutch (?) show and it is worth watching. It is on TH-cam. Entire episodes. Format is a host and 6 or 7 of the "best singers". One singer is chosen on each episode to be in the seat of honor. The other singers then perform for that singer, singing a song they have written, or a song which might have meaning for the honoree. It is a really good show, and the other singers in this particular season are very entertaining. You can watch Floor reduce one of the young male singers to tears when it is his turn to be honored. Other singers cringe when they hear the words: "Floor Jensen is doing a cover or your song".

It's pronounced Yansen all the "J"s in the members of NW past n present with the letter J has a Y sound if you like her pop sound try her recent Solo stuff of her own" Fire" and" Storm " it's like Adele but better
i think she can sing most of genres if she want to, maybe Mongolian throatsong style takes time to learn but I think if she want to learn that, she will.

you should check out Esther Hnamte when you get the chance she is a little girl from North West India and has been singing on youtube since she was 3 and is now 5 she sings in her native language but she also has some english songs the english songs I know of are Hear Us Out Lord and Angels Sing which is a Christmas song she also shows off her dancing skills in the music video for Angels Sing
I'm somewhat disappointed in you Schnell, that knowing the diversity of Floor you haven't done a deeper dive into her solo projects. Imo you're missing the best of her. From her little jazz infused take on Slow Love Slow (2021 Amsterdam concert) to her most recent release of her second song from her new album, Storm (performed live w/orchestra - th-cam.com/video/8dAP8Mjgh_E/w-d-xo.html). While she has "offical" music videos for he new original songs, she is, by far, best in live video performances because they are so much more organic. you should check out Esther Hnamte when you get the chance she is a little girl from North West India and has been singing on youtube since she was 3 and is now 5 she sings in her native language but she also has some english songs the english songs I know of are Hear Us Out Lord and Angels Sing which is a Christmas song she also shows off her dancing skills in the music video for Angels Sing

I'm somewhat disappointed in you Schnell, that knowing the diversity of Floor you haven't done a deeper dive into her solo projects. Imo you're missing the best of her. From her little jazz infused take on Slow Love Slow (2021 Amsterdam concert) to her most recent release of her second song from her new album, Storm (performed live w/orchestra - th-cam.com/video/8dAP8Mjgh_E/w-d-xo.html). While she has "offical" music videos for he new original songs, she is, by far, best in live video performances because they are so much more organic. You want to feel more emotions like you did today, go solo with her
