    I agree, we tend to over think things, instead of focusing on what we are shooting at. Good form is very important then focus. Been shooting traditional for probably 30 years or more, know exactly what you are talking about. Great advice!!!!!!

    Well said! I have tried a little of it all, and I shoot pretty much the same way you do, and I don't think I will ever change, now. Nate Steen, and others have taught me, the basics of the swing draw, which I use, for the most part, but like you said, up to about 20 yards, I can just draw my bow, while looking at the spot and hit pretty close, most of the time, even if I don't come to full anchor. It's 95 percent mental concentration on the spot, that I want to hit. At longer ranges, I do concentrate a little more, on the gap, but I am still doing most of my aiming during the draw. If I hold for very long, I usually shoot worse.

    Good hunting advice! My setup is a 620gr 34" arrow out of a 54" Shrew @ 46# at my draw.. 3under..my max is right about 20 when I'm fresh and not hurtin..15yds all day long. I practice almost every day, off the roof, off my butt, across the yard..mix it up! If you ain't grinnin' stop..or try something to make you grin! Just don't stand there pounding what you don't like. If your struggling at 20yds sit on a log or in a chair at 10yds and shoot a few..then be done. I think where most go awry is repeatedly shooting when tired,sore or just plain out of focus..gotta be feeling fun or be DONE. I don't really enjoy targets in the round\square type..A leaf..A pine cone..or just a different color on the hay..that works for me..don't get me wrong a tennis ball screams shoot me! But if you shoot too long at a blazingly bright target its doing you a disservice when it comes to hunting..shoot natural things to hunt naturally.

    In any profession when something happens that wasn’t intended is normally due to a failure at the basics. Thanks for the reminder to keep it simple. Happy New Year.

    Make a Strong shot! That video of yours has helped me refine my shooting process. My 3 mental steps….strong shot(grip and form), focus down on a point(while drawing) and hold the bow after release.
    Great videos and content!

    I shoot instinctive also. Try squinting your left eye but not shutting it. It shrinks down the picture and makes you shoot smaller. Works hunting for me. I live in Texas we hunt all year every day for whitetail free range exotic game or hogs I shoot alot. I work on a ranch so hunting is more like work with those pigs. Great videos I watchem all. I think the longbow the animals react less than recurve and don't feel like I lost any power. Have a good one

    I'm a compound shooter but shot with fingers up until early 2000 only good thing about the compound was the let off giving you time to anchor and put your sight on target I can see where the full weight would throw you off trying to find anchor without lots and lots of practice I have found over the years it really don't matter what you do or how you do it as long as you can do it over and over again every time

    When I practice I shoot instinctive. But when I’m hunting my target panic makes me close my eye and gap shoot. It’s kinda hard to explain. I’m tagged out but next season I’m going to try and make myself shoot instinctive while hunting.

    Amen brother all these 8,9 or 10 step shot process from all these Target Shooters they say they shoot the same way in the tree stand I don't buy it. You can't be doing all that crap when you're under pressure you got to be able to snapshoot or at least just make it run automatic

    Tha is what worked for me too. Pick a spot and shoot! I coudnt control my shot trying to draw to the corner of my mouth... happens that I have a long neck, I have found my anchor point with the middle joint of my thumb on that big tendon of my neck ( sternocleidomastoid) which acts like a clicker when my thumb snap over it. Pretty unusual I guess...it increases my draw lenght from 27.5 to 28.5 inches... and the best part is I can hit the target know.

  • @caseysmith544
    @caseysmith544 14 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา +1

    I use the hold anchor for 5 seconds and a reason why I only use a 45 pound bow at my draw max for when I get into hunting and target stuff. I do this becuse I need those 5 seconds for my hunting needs.

    I can't understand what you did to (cure) target panic was the very thing that T.P. doesn't allow you to . PUT THE ARROW where you want it!!!
