I have a question: that rod has a 12-20 lbs rating. The penn Squall you mentioned has a 30 lb drag mentioned. Is it ok?
With what braid do you use it with? 0.20 mm?
The reason I am asking this is because I had my eyes on a squall ii level wind, the Penn regiment solid carbon 12-20 lbs and a 0.20 mm braid, for bottom fishing of the coast of Portugal.
In here nobody knows that kind of rating , they mostly use the casting weight rating, and I am afraid to buy the tackle I mentioned because I am afraid it could break.
I didn’t want to buy a too stiff of a rod because most of the fish are under 15 pounds ( between 1 and 7 kg)
    Can you help me?
    Thanks.

      Hi Nuno.
Sorry for the delay this comment somehow got missed but il try my best to answer it now for you!
So I find both Squall and the rods perfectly matched and I fish 30lb braid for most of my fishing, I don’t work on Diameter but again I find that lB braid fine.
In terms of fishing in Portugal I have zero experience but I will say that the strength rod you need isn’t just down to the size of fish but also the size of the tides and eights you’re dropping down, here some and soon to be myself use 6-12lb class rods and that’s catch fishing upwards of 20lb so as long as the tides are not to heavy and you need loads of lead weight to get down this set up will be fine for you! Others may know the area better though matey. 👍🏻
