If it's around $52/night, it's 1560/mo BUT all amenities and utilities basically included. You lose on space, but you make up for it in convenience. It's a steep rent in a small town, but actually a pretty good deal in most big/major cities. I think it's a better deal as a temporary thkng though- like a cheap "hotel room" or a place to live between housing situations if you need it or, frankly, a safe place to stay if you need to lay low from an abusive situation or need to cool your head away from your partner-even a safe place for a young person who ran away from home to stay, if they're able. I could never live so small, but i could see myself staying over night in one of these rooms much more so than minimal size capsule hotels. It's pretty genius.

It looks so soothing and cozy, being able to hide from all of the noise in such place, but also depressing. I am sure that people who live there regularly burning out in underpaid jobs don't enjoy meals either.
Thankyou for this video for showing this ! It is a similar price to a capsule hotel , but you get a private room ! I also love your choice for breakfast ! It is like when you first move out of home, and realise you can eat anything you want for breakfast !
The living arrangements in these kinds of places always fascinated me. It would be one thing to stay for a period of time in them, but to actually live here in one of these rooms, what do you do in your day to offset the cost. Do people work online? Is this to lessen a commute to a job? It's just such an interesting lifestyle. Kinda reminds me of a NEET. Not one that you would really want to have, but it seems like one that a lot of people have fallen into and just seem to accept.
For some people it's cheaper and easier than commuting. Go to the city on monday morning, move to the hotel - from there, go tto work. after work, sleep in a hotel. on friday evening, go back home. Some people go there when they are sick, so they won't get the family sick.
I used it daily during my Kyoto-tokyo cycling trip last year and it was great, especially the free toasts and french fries in the morning and the 200 yen curry rice in the night time. But note franchises in Tokyo seem to have different rules from other areas(no free breakfast, even no food service at all), so it's a necessity to check the information of each one before deciding.
Do these capsule/cafe hotels typically have area where you can park or store your bikes? I'm planning a bike tour in Japan and I was thinking these type of accommodations as an option. My route will be Osaka-Kyoto-Nagoya-Tokyo
Hey, I'm interested in travelling to Japan for a cycling trip, how long did Kyoto-Tokyo take you? Also, same question as previous guy, where do you store your bike for the night?
@@Jason-fo5xu Hello, It was nine days because I was visiting tourist sites while advancing. It is only 500km so if you go fast 4 to 5 days is pretty enough. Your free breakfast reminds me of when I went to an anime convention in Los Angeles. We'd get to the con center so early, that we'd grab breakfast at the little cafe they had there- a real fruit smoothie, and french fries. I'm amazed I made it three whole days without getting sick on breakfasts like that XD
As someone who has slept in most major airports and train stations around europe, this would be pure luxury to find. I have tried out the capsules in airports, but they are too expensive when you just can sleep on the floor instead. But sometimes you need a place with a shower and this looks like a great alternative, I would set my alarm and stay 6h (5h of sleep and 1h to eat and shower)
Gotta say, pretty impressed that you dipped your fries in the ice cream, that's genius level for sure. This is the first video I've seen on your channel, I really like your content!
These capsules are great, especially for times when maybe your out with friends or workmates, they live close but not us, so instead of having to travel home late at night just stay in one of these. So often I’ve been to spas with friends (I admit I’m envious of the onsen) then the lovely relaxed state is crushed by crowded trains, late, cancelled buses, traffic jams…ugh! We’d definitely do this and go home the next day or spend some time having a nice time then go home when it’s not so busy. The jacuzzis and pools here are a bit cold tbh. The onsen always look a toasty temperature 😀 I’m not sure I could be convinced into an outdoor one in winter though 😂
While my condition doesn’t allow me to take long baths in the onsen, an outdoor winter onsen is actually amazing! The hot steam of the onsen will immediately heat up the surrounding area so it doesn’t feel cold at all.
This was super interesting to watch! (Also the the movie selection screen delighted me because I spotted the Rurouni Kenshin: The Beginning cover :D) The breakfast was...something but there's that saying about gift horses and such.
I admire your courage. If I had seen Internet Explorer in my private capsule, I would have made a run for it. I would have ran all the way to the first train to Hokkaido.
whenever you get fresh toast and cold margarine/butter, please try putting the butter to rest between the slices immediately after toasting, then it will be soft enough to spread later
One thing that I have noticed in a few of your videos now is that many public places in Japan have a Shoehorn (the thing that you put in the heel of the shoe to make it easier to clip the foot in). Makes sense when in many places you take your shoes off, but it is interesting nonetheless that they are provided in places like this.
The toilet rankings are one of the best bits about your videos! Lol at that all crack me up all the time! I haven't noticed that they supply courtesy spray you might need to deploy after one of your meals for the next user????😂
Huh. I've been aware of "private booths" in manga cafes and Internet cafes, but I didn't realise they were quite so well equipped and actually private. I wonder if the soundproofing is good enough for me to listen to music or talk on the phone or something (or muffle snoring 😬)
I always pictured an awful seedy-looking place when thinking of what a "net cafe" is. I've seen it depicted in anime or whatever, but I always thought that was just like typical fantasy like how everyone on TV lives in a massive apartment or home. Seeing how it works is actually pretty cool. We have no concept of capsule anything where I'm from (our people would trash the hell out of the places, if I'm honest) so this is absolutely unreal to me. Also, this video is really quiet without the constant rattle of a train in the background. Really cool view into this kind of place and it's easy to see the potential lifestyle some hard-luck folks would get out of it.
It seems clean but I'm sorry...a private room you can book by the hour, with what appears to be a wipedown bed and complementary boxes of tissues...? Not everybody is booking those rooms to sleep in, and that's all I would be able to think about lol
the selection on the computer screen along with movies and video games you could play also had a red heart with 18 in it at the end there at 5:20. so at least the place is aware of what it's used for, what it was made for.
The Japanese are a clean people. If this was the US it would be full of needles, rodents, and “for a good time call” style graffiti. With people fighting down the hall.
8:07 omg that looks so good 😭 If I saw a gourmet crab cream croquette with such a generous portion here on the Eastern coast in the U.S., the price would probably be around $16-20 💀
Not only are these things informative, interesting, and comfortable to watch, but they can even be really funny. I smirked at the screaming over Internet Explorer and laughed out loud at the silent rendition of "Jesus Christ, it's Jason Bourne!"
Sorry i'm late! It's a jungle out there!

Not one that you would really want to have, but it seems like one that a lot of people have fallen into and just seem to accept.
i mean i would kill to have this type of internet speed
For a lot of people renting these I'd wager its better than the alternative which is probably being homeless.
For some people it's cheaper and easier than commuting. Go to the city on monday morning, move to the hotel - from there, go tto work. after work, sleep in a hotel. on friday evening, go back home.
Some people go there when they are sick, so they won't get the family sick.
It depends on the hotel. I know of one that is actually only around $350 US a month. They often give deals for long term stays.
@@田中太郎-p7w8q Ah! Thanks for the info. I'll add that as an option for parking my bike.
Hey, I'm interested in travelling to Japan for a cycling trip, how long did Kyoto-Tokyo take you? Also, same question as previous guy, where do you store your bike for the night?
@@Jason-fo5xu Hello,
It was nine days because I was visiting tourist sites while advancing. It is only 500km so if you go fast 4 to 5 days is pretty enough.
I just parked my bicycle in the parking lot of the internet cafe. You can also bring the bike into the box if you disassemble and pack the bicycle first.
ps. some of the franchaises don't have parking site so make sure to check their websites before making the planning.
@@remainsofmewu2548 thanks for the reply, did some research and planning on the route and seems like if I want to include some sightseeing will be looking at a 10 day trip as well.
Your videos are so peaceful. I cannot wait to travel again to Japan.
This is what we need in the Philippines right now for us nightshift workers since public transportation is so bad it would take us forever to to go home from work and vice versa roughly 3 hrs travel time, the ability to check in with all the ameneties available is so good and amazingly a room that small/soundproof is a God send where we can sleep peacefuly and do some remote work specialy if you have noisy unruly fukin neighbors which is common in this country.
we dont need this,,, we need proper transpo first. and proper salaries and proper fucking politicians

I too am a fan of womens rights
While my condition doesn’t allow me to take long baths in the onsen, an outdoor winter onsen is actually amazing! The hot steam of the onsen will immediately heat up the surrounding area so it doesn’t feel cold at all.

whenever you get fresh toast and cold margarine/butter, please try putting the butter to rest between the slices immediately after toasting, then it will be soft enough to spread later
Oh so that how people do it. neat
For me, it's the worst bit
Man,your videos are amazing.No unnecessary music,speech...
Huh. I've been aware of "private booths" in manga cafes and Internet cafes, but I didn't realise they were quite so well equipped and actually private. I wonder if the soundproofing is good enough for me to listen to music or talk on the phone or something (or muffle snoring 😬)
ive watched overnight videos of internet/manga cafes in japan. You can 100% hear all the people around you snoring.
Its good but not to a level of when you scream
LMAO at the washroom peasant description . No shade. That would be my broke ass living there.
Love the vid!
The Jason Bourne reference AND a JoJo reference... truly a man of culture
Just think that somebody was happy there.
I was thinking about the poor women who have to clean them…
nasty place
the selection on the computer screen along with movies and video games you could play also had a red heart with 18 in it at the end there at 5:20. so at least the place is aware of what it's used for, what it was made for.
