The primary problem is still that civilization is built in a way that requires cars and makes alternative modes of transport difficult to impossible. You'll realize this is true when you think about how things would be if all automobiles disappeared from existence. You would be faced with important destinations that are only accessible by car, but no car with which to get there. People would not be able to get to their jobs, the store, the clinic, to school, to visit friends and family, or get across the country.

This shows what we are capable of when we put our minds to it. I wonder how many of these inventions will be taken up, though.
I can attest to the porous road surface being used in the UK, though I have not seen it used on the road around here, Somerset, UK.
I have, however, seen it used to resurface a badly worn driveway that was prone to flooding. One of our neighbours had it installed. Part of its makeup is recycled plastic, and the only difference you can see is that it is more of a charcoal grey colour. It works!
Where does the water go? I wonder how durable the porous road surface would be at locations where, in the winter, the ground temperature goes below freezing turning water content to ice.

There is good ideas, the painted floating ped crossing seemed a good one but imagine them hit the brakes... nah. The folding yellow plates, at 4:00, i think it would crush the pedestrian and make the car jump over ! So i would choose the gun at 4:30! Seriously my favourite is the guard rail around 7:00 It seem very strong and not harmful , dont seem too expensive.. Im a truck driver and it's right to say that education is top of the list for road safety. Despite all these goos ideas , I beleive that the feature that will save the most people is... to not drive. No human idiot. We dont even need lights if all the cars drive themsellves. We can forget all of these gadgets...
The bouncing guard rail????? The dumbest idea ever, of course invented by Koreans who have zero imagination as to what would happen when a speeding hunk of metal and motor comes BOUNCING BACK onto the main road causing more havoc as cars and other vehicles coming from behind sees that thing bounce back into their path and they have nowhere to go.
The reason why we created those metal crumple barriers in the first place is to STOP the vehicles from going too far OR, BOUNCING BACK into traffic, that the vehicle's speed and collision would be mostly taken by that metal barrier and the force will be CAUGHT by it, MOSTLY.
I would hate to be behind the vehicle that BOUNCES BACK into the main road, I would have nowhere to go but crash into it, or it would crash back into me.

Is it just me, or does the first one always seem to result in the truck pulling to one side and smashing into the side wall? I mean, yes it stops the truck, but how is that better than the conventional type, i.e. sand or gravel? To me, it looks like the trucks will need a lot of repair work, the front wing, lights, bonnet/hood, axle, even the engine.
Had to laugh at the solar panels on the roads and paths, and what does it show? A car parked on top of the panel, blocking out the sun 🤣🤣

one big problem using ultra porous tarmac if the road is in the shade or dose not get to much traffic then there is nothing to stop Moss or algae growing then this becomes dangerous for cyclists and motorcyclists

Some of the concepts are pretty cool. Unfortunatley they're showcased in a video in which the narrator has no idea what he's even talking about.
Example? Ultra-porous asphalt absorbing more than 1000 Gallons/min. On which area? A square foot? A square mile? The surface area of Texas? The whole earth's surface? It should be obvious that 1 square inch can't absorb as much as an acre or a square mile or a whole countrie's worth of surface area. Any ordinary engineer would have noticed that and consequently given the right context. This leads to only once conclusion: This video is the mass-produced bullshit done by people with no clue what they're doing, that is nowadays so common on TH-cam. Not worth to watch.
If you try to think about it, you will probably realize that a square foot is not enough. And 1000 gallons per square mile is not worth mentioning. You have a brain, use it.
BTW Technically water is not absorbed, but coming trough asphalt into the drainage system...
