I hope Lovebites fans caught the live broadcast of Memorial for the Warrior Souls concert today and their new song Soul Defender MV played after. Awesome If not, you'll have to wait for August 28th.
Unchained, as Lovebites hits the ground running 😉. Song has feel of Don't Bite tbe Dust, which isn't coincidence. DBTD is the first song on Lovebites EP and this one is the first song on Lovebites EP II. This one really hitting TH-cam big. Keep spreading the Lovebites. You'll get more songs from this EP on August 28th as well as the live CD/DVD "Memorial for the Warrior Soul" of previously released songs which broadcast today on TH-cam. Mix was superior. Two songs already released from it - Rising and We Are the Resurrection.
Welcome back. Glad you had a good vacation. I think this song has a good chance for a wider appeal to the masses. It's catchy, upbeat, positive, and it's not too long. Back in the day, it would be a choice hit song for radio airplay. This song grew on me the more I listened to it. Lovebites recently played a festival show in South Korea. ( JUMF ) You can find the whole show here on TH-cam. They did great as expected, and the crowd seemed to love them. The stage was fairly big, so they had room to run around. There was even a center catwalk, which they made good use of!
Welcome back to Lovebites ! This track has pretty much everything - a seamless and innovative blend of AOR/heavy rock, speed-power metal, and a bit of thrash thrown in at the breakdown before the solos. At the same time, it's got a catchy hook to make this an awesome LIVE song in the making. BTW, from the same new EP "Lovebites EP II", the band just dropped another song/MV called "Soul Defender" earlier today on August 12, but as of now, the MV is not uploaded on their official YT channel yet because it was premiered together with the LIVE stream of their latest LIVE LP. Hopefully soon !
Unchained up to 75 reactors, which is good. I don't see Soul Defender being released until August 28th. I think they said it won't be archived. I could be wrong. I'm most intrigued with the song Someone's Dream. Could it be a awesome ballad like some of Lovebites others? I'm hoping so
@@metalmark1214 The LIVE stream for MFTWS will not be archived for obvious reasons. However, since they've already premiered "Soul Defender", I can't see why they won't fully drop it earlier. Anyway, we'll see. As for the other 3 tracks, yep, I'm pretty excited to hear what they are, and you may well be right, an impending ballad may be a possibility. Lovebites tend to 'experiment' quite a bit with their EPs, which is a good thing for me personally as this band is so versatile and innovative. They 'experiment' but they do so within the bounds of their core sound. Dystopia Symphony was my fav LB song until SSS came along.
@@boyzyu Yeah, a new ballad would be nice. I haven't heard Soul Defender yet, I couldn't make it to the premier. I had to sleep. I have the new Blu-ray and EP-II pre-ordered, so I can wait for it. It gives me something to look forward to. ☺
@@TheCyberMantis "Soul Defender" is different from "Unchained", and it's more up my alley. It's a very good song, just like "Unchained". Even if another one of the tracks is going to be a ballad, not too sure it'll be a full power ballad like "Epilogue". I might be wrong, but the full-ballad ship might have sailed with Lovebites. Perhaps something along the lines of "Empty Daydream" ?
@@boyzyu I will be happy with whatever they decide to do. It's fun to see what direction they will go in. At this point, I don't really have any expectations. They don't need to prove anything to anyone. Whatever they want to do, I will support them. No strings attached. If they are happy, then I am happy. Everything they are doing is great. 2024 is a big year for them. They are so busy, lots of cool stuff going on. Gaining new fans wherever they go. I am really happy for them.

Lovebites with the cruise control turned on… great video, etc, but no ‘moment’ in this track. The mix buries the guitars too much in the keys. The dual harmony solo is pretty tame… again the mix has the rawness rolled off completely. Could be a harmonizer. Miyako’s little bounce after the solo is the high point for me. Why is Miyako’s close out solo part mixed mid-left in the sound stage? Every LB release for the past 5 years has Miyako mixed hard right and Midori hard left… odd. Fami is having fun and Haruna crushes it. A great album track…
"The dual harmony solo is pretty tame..." Yeah, unless this was written purposefully for radio play, which a lot or people are saying, or just as a 'jump-around' tune for the crowds,. Without denigration of the hoi polloi, singles and radio-friendly songs need to be simple, catchy, and short ( you know that, of course ), and while this is not even close to being a 'simple song musically, it is catchy and short .However, your comments were spot on.
But... in defense of the musicality of the song, if you listen closely to Fami, she blends the galloping notes with slapping note lines in a very unique way. Once you hear it, it's all you can hear. Finally, I hope, the dual harmony solo section cleverly pays homage to traditional Japanese folk music usually heard on a koto. Those sweeping two-note lines that they both play are from the past. Very nicely done.

The only reason the Reactor thought of the band Van Halen is because of the song title; they also had a song called "Unchained" in 1981.
