    Am I the only one missing the days when Lego would include base plates with big sets like this? I know it would likely significantly increase the price but it looks so much more complete with a base plate I think

    • @brawbricks8286
      @brawbricks8286 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It would be good wouldn't it, however I think on the whole it's a good idea not to include one, as some people won't want a baseplate and the people who do want one can simply just buy one :)

    • @CommanderJoir
      @CommanderJoir 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      you are defiantly not the only one. I even miss the custom one with a drive path for ambulance (in this case)

    • @JeanLoupRSmith
      @JeanLoupRSmith 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      BRAW BRICKS yes you can buy one but they're either genetic road plates or the plain colour ones, the specialised ones for hospital, police or even pirate sets was what made the vintage sets so attractive I think

    If you add a baseplate, some pieces for an elevator and garage plus other things this is an amazing build and personal project.

    20:30 I completely understand the baby head change. With the neck it makes it easier to move and remove the read as a piece. Like adding the groove onto a slope or tile piece.

    • @troodon1096
      @troodon1096 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Plus, it looks a little more "realistic" in proportion (baby actually looks like it has a neck now).

  • @MelancholicEcho

    Agree, a 1x2 grill piece would finish off the front of that ambulance nicely.

  • @melon6149
    @melon6149 6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I hope LEGO makes small sets to accommodate the hospital. Maybe they could make the other sets have 1 figure each and be in an emergency or in need of the ambulance/hospital. Even if it might be a little dark

    We got this set at our local toy shop reduced at £50 which personally I think is a great price for what you get, the light brick X-Ray feature is a great feature I think. I'm also fine with the Helipad being a separate build as here in the UK we dont have such big hospitals like in the US, so our helipads arent usually on the roof of the hospital, I actually work in a hospital and our Helipad is just off at the side of the hospital by the A&E department (the equivalent of the ER in the US).
    Overall, especially for the price I paid I think this is a great set.

    Glad you reviewed this. This is probably one of my favourite sets of this year. This just shows how good the designers were when they were asked to create a hospital. I have spent a fare amount of time in hospitals and I think that this does a pretty good job of recreating it. I think that there are so many useful pieces in this. I might have to buy more than one of this though. All for £70 in the uk that is a really good price. Probably one of the best value city sets you could get. I can’t wait to get this.

    • @brawbricks8286
      @brawbricks8286 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am so happy it's £70! With all of the high priced sets lately in the UK, I was beginning to to think that the days of reasonably priced sets were over, but this proves that they aren't - hopefully more sets in the future have prices like this :D

    the hospital right by my house has a helipad both on the roof and on the ground. one is just for a quicker access to the ER where the other is transport to another hospital or bring one in not because they are in an emergency but because specialization in care.

    Looking at the Lego Friends Heartlake Hospital, which is the same price for an arguably bigger building, one could conceivably replace the pastel elements with primary colors (red instead of fuschia, navy blue for lavender, etc.) and combine it with this set to make a larger hospital.

    Lego have done a great job with this set. The price is also good, considering what you get - all those minifigures!
    My idea for this is to buy two (one built in reverse) and leave a gap in between, for a wider and taller version of the main building from Lego 4429 (2012) - the big window with the red frame I think would make a great central feature and would complement the two end towers well. Move a few doors, perhaps extend each floor to a full 16x16, etc. Should all fit well onto a couple of 48x48 grey base plates.

    Got it on sale a few days ago while I like the set for a base hospital set . It felt incomplete therefore the only thing one can do is modified and build a hospital one that’s x-ray room has a rooftop along with additional features like an ER . The size and shape of the building overall is nice . It is at the very least a good starting point for a moc hospital

    I like the ambulance but it would be nice if they could make it so a paramedic could be in back with the patient. They could have used a “paramedic” sticker like the helicopter has, instead of the multiple stars of life on the sides. I think it would look a little better. They really tried to stuff a lot into this set, it just needs more rooms to make it work better.
