You can tell an architect designed those structures because animals in dark places like the abyss of the ocean are attracted by light so what do they do put as many powerful lights on the outside of the structures as possible lmao.
I just want to majorly shout out to your editors! They add so much detail to the videos that don't just make the video more entertaining, they make me feel like I am experiencing the game as Matt does. The close calls, the jokes, the true engineering ideas (and sometimes the architect level ideas tbh), I feel like I experienced these as RCE experienced them.
Matt: Builds a mine on an infinite coal deposit Also Matt: Pulls the worker off the mine because he "has enough coal" Also also Matt: Oh No, I'm running out of coal, where do I find more?!?!
it's all fun and games until it becomes Infraspace all over again... we remember the endless traffic... the overpopulation... followed by underpopulation
RCE during Timberborn: Let's fast forward through night time. No one likes to play a game with day/night cycles. RCE: Well, I guess that's one way to avoid the night cycle - just make it all night all the time.
Matt needs to play Subnautica I want to see the amazing bases he makes that are engineered to perfection 😂 Edit: so apparently he already has but it seems like everyone wants a season 2
being that rapture is like an early/mid 1900's new york style city under water, mostly skyscrapers and such (or being they are under water is it more accurate to call them surfacescrapers?) it wouldnt really work if every single function building was massive. could open up possibilities such as combining simtower elements where you place a skyscraper and then you construct the interior floor by floor like in simtower.
This is basically underwater Frostpunk with a bit of Surviving Mars tacked on, which makes sense given they're all Paradox games. Will definitely pick this up and fill in the time waiting for Frostpunk 2. Also I like how there is a coral reef nearby. You know those reefs that are kilometers deep in the ocean.
hopefully the devs update it to make adding tunnels like, require more energy or air or something so you have to actually make them efficient and as short as possible, or walking time reducing efficiency of stuff
i have severe thalassophobia and often have nightmares about cities on the ocean floor. i wasn’t expecting this game to be horror, but it certainly feels like it lol
Matt, if the event ever rose, the "enemy" could easily map your base.. the entire thing is lit up, after all.. whether visually or with sonar, you aren't fooling them.. if the game allowed you to tunnel into the ground, and expand that way, then it would be an entirely different story. Bless your soul though hahaha I really can't blame you for trying. A+ for effort! :D
0:48 may I suggest you another very nice game, that is similar to this one, of Paradox? I would love to see Matt play Surviving Mars! And to see the most strong looking Mars Colony ever made XD The only problem? The entire game is in grids (and I hate it some times)... But hey they are the strongest shape possible! (No not that one you are thinking) EXAGON! P.S. do it in live pls 25:58 SpongeBob be like:
You should play Command and Conquer : Tiberian Sun. Play as NOD and send waves of cyborgs and Engineers into the middle of GDI bases with those underground APCs from the TMNT cartoon. Engineers can be very OP properly applied.
Really hope you continue this series. And just remember about the huge feet: the bigger the feet, the bigger the m..., um, the more efficient they are.
For people interested in playing this gamej here is a tip for you. Those mining buoy that are place to get resources can be placed a further distance out past the light as long as your sonar has located them.
Something tells me enemy forces are gonna have a really easy time finding Matt's base. Good thing it's tough to see through abyssal voids. Not sure if the population has to physically walk to buildings in this but if they do then the super tunnel might've actually screwed you over.
Matt. there is a game called “surviving Mars” it’s very similar to this game but it’s based on mars. you start off with drones and other things then once you make survival domes you can bring people into your engineering paradise on mars free from all architects. it’s also got calming music.
Honestly, wanna see you and Morphologist Collab. He is an architect, but also an engineer... A Space Engineer XD But in all seriousness his architect reviews series focuses first and foremost on efficiency of design followed then by aesthetic design
This looks interesting, definitely going to give it a look. Btw, you should check out Frostpunk, it's kinda like this, but winter and (possible) child labour.
Matt: Has a worker disassemble explosive mines. Also Matt: "Oh we did it! We got 90 steel for that! Bangin'!" No Matt! Not bangin'! That's EXACTLY what you don't want, and did successfully avoid! Bangin' = not good in this case.
A fish once decided to get out of the sea and boom - we got all the dry land animals, including humans. But these guys want to merge them back with fish?....
this really gives me SOMA vibes, as in reaserching bace on the bottom of the ocean. Would actaly really like to see you play that, tho it isn't like the other games you play, because its a horror game. But its a REALLY good game with an incredible story.
4:06 the reason the world will never have to fear engineer tyranny. With out someone like an architect to give them functional plans to build something useful you get this.
@RCE I was just wondering do you know how to do electrical wiring as I'm building a small off grid house so she can travel Australia but I can't the the the lights heater ect to work it's all powered by solar panels which all together is around 800wats but just won't work and was wondering if you have any tips
@@merafirewing6591 I was referring to long pointless corridors being really long and windy for no reason and inconveniencing the workers by them not having efficient routes to work
Mister Streamer I know that curves and glass and curved glass are a problem, but what about glass blocks/bricks? I love how weird they look when used in walls.

Question. Did you do a my uni life in 60 seconds thing cause I found one on Vimeo for a guy called matt
@Ultimate Will Counter question: Does he sound like me? 😂
You can tell an architect designed those structures because animals in dark places like the abyss of the ocean are attracted by light so what do they do put as many powerful lights on the outside of the structures as possible lmao.
Unfortunately Atlantis might be both an engineering and architectural achievement.
Matt this game looks awesome I hope the development team let's you test it more

I know it’s part of his charm but honestly RCE’s way of doing things really stresses me out skjfnsiefjn, i mean the tunnels were killing me
i know right, it really bugged the heck out of me
it's all fun and games until it becomes Infraspace all over again... we remember the endless traffic... the overpopulation... followed by underpopulation
I think it's part of his plan, frustrate us so much we decide we can do a better job of the layout, and buy the game
Sameeee it feels so stressful looking at thoose tunnels 😂
@@thomasphillips885 not gonna lie he’s pulled that off with me at least once already.

Shitting himself when he sees a leviathan may not be good for his current condition.
He did this
So strongly shaped…
I agree
Let's get this comment maxed likes so it can be seen
This just makes me want a Bioshock city builder
yes, it just need more art deco and bam
I thought the same thing. And with the boom of city/colony builders right now its the perfect time.

My very first thought was that this game could just as easily have been called something like "BioShock: Raising Rapture".
They kinda built a shallow sea floor then put it a few thousand meters down didn't they
cold reefs DO exist, and are frequently pretty deep down!... this doesn't look anything like one though lmao
@@tanagerbirds interesting. I can see cold water, but 7km deep is crazy
Your tunnels are rather.... architectural
All that curved Glass & artistic layout
hopefully the devs update it to make adding tunnels like, require more energy or air or something so you have to actually make them efficient and as short as possible, or walking time reducing efficiency of stuff
You know what you're implying right now-
🤨
You were ment to destroy the architects, not join them!
Last city at the bottom of the sea didn't end so good.
i have severe thalassophobia and often have nightmares about cities on the ocean floor. i wasn’t expecting this game to be horror, but it certainly feels like it lol
I like how the seamen move trough the most efficient tunnel network
the seamen seem to be quite experienced in traversing through tubes
This game shows the benefits when architects and engineers comes together for the greater good
that's basically the plot of Bioshock.
Paddy's derp montage was something I needed today! Thank you editor 💜💜
This reminds me of that one video where you made atlantis in Engitopia. Good times!
So you're burning coal... under water... before you have a source of oxygen...
That's some architect-level reasoning if I ever heard of it.
Matt, if the event ever rose, the "enemy" could easily map your base.. the entire thing is lit up, after all.. whether visually or with sonar, you aren't fooling them.. if the game allowed you to tunnel into the ground, and expand that way, then it would be an entirely different story. 13:00 best part of the video 😍
How did you run out of coal when you have an infinite coal mine?
You should play Command and Conquer : Tiberian Sun. Play as NOD and send waves of cyborgs and Engineers into the middle of GDI bases with those underground APCs from the TMNT cartoon. Engineers can be very OP properly applied.
I have to say, RCE is an excellent architect. 👌
Matt: "we're learning how to survive in the water, 7000m down the surface"
Timberborners on the custom flood map: 🗿
How did you run out of coal? I thought that the first thing you discovered was an infinite supply.
He pulled the worker and forgot about it
"... with a knick knack paddy pack,
Give a dog a bone,
R. C. E. Makes tunnels long!"
Really hope you continue this series. And just remember about the huge feet: the bigger the feet, the bigger the m..., um, the more efficient they are.
I said "things don't have to look good it has to work well and reliably" -Untitled Airlines
Matt couldve said a lobster but instead a scorpion under the sea
So a... sea scorpion, a eurypterid.
Those are some hearty plants to be living over 7000m down!
as someone who has Thalassophobia, this absolutely horrified me. But i must watch for the futures of Engineers!
I wonder if the lifespan thing means you would be better off sending clones with shorter lifespans on dangerous missions.
im always on the look out for the most efficient shapes when these vids come out
Been down with strep badly and rewatching all your videos makes it all much better I forget I have strep till I laugh. But I love your content!

At 22:14 when he says “Separate Tunnel” all I could think of was the secret tunnel some from ATLA
Props to the editor for the Paddy montage.
Clap for the cameraman, who swam ,and videoed everything for our Content
That intro though. 10/10
Oh Matt you’re best EngiTuber ever. It’s indisputably
I'm looking forward to seeing more of this now that Matt knows how *not* to build his tunnels.

They might find it but it is so extremely effcient that no weapon can harm them
Edit i didn't finish the video before the tunnels
I don't get the "super unique survival game" part in the beginning.
But after the sponsor announcement, I understand 🤠

7861m = 25,790ft = 4.88miles, which would be about 760atm of pressure, or over 11,000psi, or over 77MPa. That’s an insane amount of pressure.
Also way to dark for plants.

I got a tietoa from this game. And I thought I could suggest this game for you. You read my mind
I know it's an older game now but I'd love to see ya play suboptimal Matt.
As soon as he said "efficient tunnel" I knew what that meant, the classic efficient shape. oh matt lol.
I like this! Also could you do some more transport fever 2 in the future? Keep up the good work Matt, very entertaining stuff!
Fauna traps + Light = Strongest shape!
from the thumbnail i thought it was city skylines but i’ll still watch this anyway cus it looks cool
Just in time for my daily anti-architect meditation
In building your base you became what you swore to destroy
Yeah, engineering and architecture goes hand in hand.

I dunno, elaborate roads are only funny somehow when Josh does them, as part of a general plan of chaos.
Deep sea concrete mines, it's the future! sounds like an architect's udea if wherd stuff comes ftom...
Oh nice, it’s the prequel to SOMA
Architects: Let's spend a bazillion dollars building a secret undersea cloning lab!
Engineers: Let's spend like two dollars and build it in Wyoming.

I really liking this! Very cool new type of game.
My good man, although I enjoy your content, I must say you infuriate me with your inefficiency.
The lore is masterclass
Those tunnels use “curved glass” which is “architectural” so you are an architect

No gods, no kings, no architects.
Only Engineers.

you have a coal extraction point, which gives you infinite coal. use it. create more Matts
