Damn. I CAN NOT get enough of Charlie telling stories and Otis conversing. This would be such an excellent podcast. And I don’t even listen to podcasts.
More Charlie Starr please.
Brother Otis, you are documenting the stories of the legends as told by the legends who were there and thank you for it. The insite from the guys who were " in the room" is incredible. History man and decades from now someone will be interviewing an artist telling Charlie Starr and Blackberry Smoke stories no doubt. To rock for country, to country for rock!
Gotta love Charlie! What a gifted storyteller.
I know you like to be invisible in these interviews, but I always love it when you're a part of them
I saw a video of Charlie playing music with his 2 boys and it was great to see how proud he was of both of them. The older boy is already a good picker and singer and the younger one really enjoyed singing with his dad and he had a good voice too. I expect they will carry on the family tradition.
Really enjoying these clips with Charlie. Great stuff!
Thanks Otis!
Kenny and Charlie both love to tell these stories. You’re smart enough to not pull on the reins and let ‘em run.
Merle is, was and will always be my favorite country singer songwriter player. Love hearing stories about him. I’m definitely going to use that line in shows for sure. “We can play quieter so you don’t have to talk so loud”.
Dad had a lot great quips. He was a funny guy and we miss him.
Another great sit down Otis. The last statement Charlie made says it all.
Every time I hear Vince Gill do the song he wrote about Merle, just after he passed, brings tears to my eyes. Every time it starts I say, ok it's not going to happen this time, and it does. I think it's one of the most well written songs I know, and it tells exactly who Merle was to all of us. Getting to know Charlie Starr has been a real joy also. Thanks so much Otis, these interviews are outstanding. People will view these and appreciate them long after we say goodby. Appreciate you, Peace, --gary
Otis , you always do great , and Charlie Starr is awesome .
Otis I love these video interviews with the leader of my favorite band BBS! Thanks brother.
good stuff Mr. Gibbs Mr. Starr is one of my favorite artists.
Charlie brought me back to a side of music that I didn't realize I enjoyed so deeply. Blackberry is a standalone accomplishment and vibe, truly great, all on its own but its also ( for me) a gateway back to a more genuine time in music. Merle and Willie and Waylon and George... Thank You sir. You are a keeper of the flame.
they were here my town.last summer planned to attend with nephew he had been to a show nashville a few years prior last monrh went to neighbors moving sale merle george waylon ghits in the player now cowboys good hearted womsn yesterday i put on cassettes when indie radio fades out just didnt work out to smoke show outdoor venue think was cancelled weather anyway
Great interview Otis. Thank you.
Otis you struck gold again with Charlie Starr! He's an excellent storyteller and has wit and humor to go with it. It isn't often that I'm not in agreement with Charlie but I think his son is ready for Europe 72. My daughter has been listening to The Dead, The Brothers, The Band and Little Feat since she was in elementary school. It blows he older male coworkers away when they talk music amongst themselves and she knows the bands, albums and songs they're discussing.
Charlie is so humble and his stories are great. Clearly a curious guy. Uber talented fanboy at some level.
Charlie seems like the coolest guy ever. I’m not a big fan of his music but I can listen to him talk ALL FREAKING DAY.
Fantastic interview and great stories.
My mom got me hooked on music listening to 50s and 60s music before introducing me to blues... Jerry Lee Lewis and Chuck Berry were wild and fun. Lots of good energy...
Thanks, y'all 🙏🏻🤍
Thanks. This is really one of the best chats you've had. Good stuff.

Charlie is so damn fun...quite the storyteller.
Tell Charlie to come play acoustic at Haw River Ballroom....we will be kind!
Hahahah nope Charlie called them out at he Majestic in Decatur...Made us all laugh. He just stopped so they could finish their conversation. Hes absolutley the best live.
There are 2 drummers on "Stay Here and Drink"
I will always know that Merle was the best. To me
My first concert was Jerry Lee Lewis in Anniston Alabama at the tiny city auditorium, I was too young to appreciate it I think because I was in shock😂😂😂
Charlie, at least once when the audience got chatty on Alejandro Escovedo, he took his guitar and sat right next to them.
I was wondering if Charlie Starr (this one) is any relation to the Charlie Starr I saw open for Yes at Winterland in 1974. It was just him with an electric guitar and he was great.
👍
Jerry Lee and Little Richard were cut from the same bolt of cloth.
