Rajendra Prasanna is an important figure in the world of Indian music and culture. He is the foremost exponent of Bansuri & Shehnai and a celebrated artist recognized for his unique ability to perform on two instruments at a topmost level. It is indeed a very rare skill in the field of Hindustani music.He hails from Banaras and comes from a traditional family of musicians of renowned Banaras Gharana. He was groomed by his grand-father Pt. Gauri Shankar and father Pt. Raghunath Prasanna, who was the first in Prasanna family to introduce both Tripura and Krishna flute.
Felicitated with Grammy Award certificate in 2004, Rajendra Prasanna became an international personality. He has performed across the globe, including appearance at renowned festivals and venues in many different countries across the globe.
Raag Bhinna Shadaj (भिन्न-षड्ज) is an ancient raag of Hindustani Classical Music and belongs to Bilaval Thaat and Audhav Jati. Presently it is popularly known as "Kaushik-Dhwani" (कौशिक-ध्वनि), apart from that it is known by several other names: Hindoli, Audhav Bilawal, Dinka Malkosh and Bhookosh/Bhavkosh/Bhavkauns. One of most famouse compostions of this raag is one of Bade Ghulam Ali Khan‘s wistful classic that continues to move us deeply, "YAAD PIYA KI AAYE".
