Im glad this gave you some insight around this. I feel its the most overlooked practice there is! Creating that muscle memory helps so when you sit down to paint, you automatically think to yourself, I know how to create that!
For me it is so relaxing and enjoyable too, painting with no expectation just for the colors and joy of it.
      Happy painting to you!

Thank you, for this video. Makes me realize how important practicing is. You're a professional artist and you still practice, how inspiring.
Hope you have a very peaceful and relaxing day.
I'm off to finish planting in my garden and take care of the chickens. The rain will be here by 3pm and it's now 10:45am where I live in Missouri.
I'm an East coast girl.....Pennsylvania near Philadelphia.
I'm 63 and my husband is from the Midwest. So we moved here three years ago.
It's ok, but there is "no place like home."
Thought I would tell you a bit about one of your student/sub.
    Sending love and more love.🌺🍃🌺🍃🖌xxx

Oh! Penny what a wonderful life. All of my relatives on my Moms side were from Kansas, had farms, and chickens, and I always felt a connection to them even though I Never met them. I sure wish there was a way for you to share pictures of those chickens! My husband is from NY, Rochester. I've never been, but I hope to one day. My daughter went to Franklin, and I never was able to visit there either. I am older than you gf! Thank you for sharing parts of your life, I'm so happy to have you here with me. Sending love and lots and lots of painting happiness and beauty!

Hi Debbie, I had a wonderful time painting along with you today. Funny thing, I was doing my own drills to relax this afternoon and looking forward to watching your video. I started your tutorial and realized you were practicing painting drills. Well, I happily started a new page and had a wonderful “visit” painting along with you. I love painting this way and will spend hours relaxing this way.
I have a question regarding the darker areas of paint left when we release pressure on the brush. I’ve noticed that some painters go back and lightly touch the area to even out the colour, others don’t and some will do it on some areas and leave other areas alone. Is this just a matter of personal preference or is there a “correct” way to handle these uneven areas of colour that occur? Thanks for another wonderful
    video. 💕🎨🖌️

Hi Nadine, we are like minds arent we though~ I am trying to vary my videos so that they are not ALL videos of me painting and covering all aspects of why I love watercolors, and all of the elements of watercolors, i am happy you enjoyed! Regarding the darker spots, what type of paper are you using? Curious? What I have found is that when I end up with a blob it is because I had too much water on my brush, which released when I picked up my brush at the end of the stroke.
*You can tap your brush tip on a tissue, go back and move the paint around to even it out, if it continues puddling wherever you move it to, dab your brush again on a tissue or paper towel, and go back and pick it up some of the excess water in the blob.
I hope this helps. If you noticed in my Black Eyed Susan's I had blobs that I didn't go back and pick up which is why you see the dark spots of paint at the end of the petals. They don't always bother me when i'm practicing and playing, although, if I am creating a painting to hang, gift or sell I would most likely pick those "blobs" up and even out the hard lines and puddles of color.
I'm so happy you found this little video relaxing..
Happy painting my like minded friend!

This was a great practice video! You opened my eyes up to seeing how many different things I can be practicing! I like to do drills with different kinds of brushes, I can paint some really pretty leaves! As you said it's so relaxing, and time flies by. I don't think about my burdens or this crazy world!

Im so happy I was able to show you something fun, the drills are really unending, different brush strokes, color combinations, lines, patterns, wet in wet! exciting right? And yes, I have many times been up till 2-3 am painting and had no idea it was that late (or early?) Have fun!
