- This park is BEAUTIFUL! We were so impressed with this park that never gets talked about- probably because no ever goes to it! While their roller coasters are not anything to shout out, the park atmosphere makes up for it with so much charm and personality, making it a very pleasant experience!

A few fun facts about this park for anyone interested:
This park has some interesting references to costa rican heritage and culture. For starters: the little animal mascots seen throughout the park (predominantly in the kids area) are taken straight from a collection of old folk tales titled “Los cuentos de mi tia panchita” written by the author Carmen Lyra; an important figure in costa rican literature and history.
The little plaza with the white houses next to the boomerang is called Pueblo Antiguo, which literally means “Old town”. It represents (albeit, in a romanticized way) life during the colonial era of the country (1561-1821). It will sometimes have folk dancers and musicians entertaining guests when the park is busy.
The two water slides: Reventazón and Pacuare are named after real rivers where people often go rafting.
The big Shoote the Chute type ride called Splash Caribe is supposed to be a homage to the caribbean side of the country (wether or not this is probably properly executed is up for debate imo).
There’s a seasonal haunted house at the back of the park which usually opens during the summer (mid year) and actually has a different theme each year (some themes even had sequels and an overarching plot behind them). It’s actually kind of elaborate and intense for what it is and almost always features an ending that gets you wet or drenched in foam. The ad campaigns for the haunted house are also fun as well (some of them are featured on the theme park’s youtube channel).
Also some individual rides have a theme song: the boomerang has a rock song, the top spin has like a funky ska type song, Splash Caribe has a calypso song, and so on.
Finally the yellow corkscrew at the front of the park, Bocaracá, is themed after the venomous eyelash viper. The name is one of many given to this species of snake, but it is particularly used in CR. (Extra fact: this ride used to be known as Whirlwind which operated at at Playland, Long Island from 1984 to 1992. It was then relocated to Knoebels under the same name, where it operated from 1993 to 2004. Until finally, in 2005, it was relocated to Parque Diversiones under the new name Bocaracá, where it still stand today).
Dude!! Getting out of the haunted house drenched and covered in foam is probably one of the best memories I have from the park!! 💧🧼🤣
That was my homepark for most of my life! Growing up in Costa Rica and going there every year really added a sentimental value for me and i appreciate your visit and your kind words! :)
The Watchtower is manufactured by Fabbri, and if you have seen Detonator (the drop tower) at Thorpe Park, it's pretty much the same but a bit more forceful

I am Costa Rican and it’s really cool to see Parque de diversiones.. cool back story this park was created to raise funds for the Childrens hospital. All profits go to the childrens hospital.
How do the park owner's pay for it then?
@@coasterhockygamingboy9549 profits from the park the park keeps what they need to stay open pay employees and maintenance all extra revenue that the park makes that would normally go to a new addition or expansion goes to the hospital instead
@@coasterhockygamingboy9549 Park owner is an association from the Childrens hospital only 20% goes to the hospital and all the rest is for payroll and invested in the park .
That park looks so authentic to it's community, and I love the support of children's hospital. Thank you for showing it to us!
The kiddie coaster is actually themed after the mascot of Teletica, the first and currently most viewed Costa Rican television network.

Rode Whirlwind many a time, glad it still lives but I can understand why Knoebels moved on from it.

There are also two water slides, a haunted house and a farm with a train ride beyond the boomerang, and on the other side of the park there is a tilt-a-whirl and some pretty intense bumper cars. I don't know if you went there but every single ride adds to the charm of the park :)
I’m from costa rica, and recently been 2 times… finding this video was awesome….!! I’ve never expected my local amusement park to be featured in a channel like this!
And yes, our park is small and "modest" but it is what we have, and no matter how small or how small are the coaster /rides it is still super fun

The profits of this park are actually to support the Costa Rican hospital called "Hospital de Niños" or Hospital of the Children, I don't think makes sense to compare it to a commercial park but thanks for supporting it! ❤

Bocaraca is the same type of ride as corkscrew at Alton Towers however it has a different cloned layout and the park’s drop tower was a fabbri (another example would be Thorpe park’s detonator) which explains why it is a good tower

That coaster is a Vekoma MK 1200 wirlwind model which is a little different than Alton Towers. Alton towers was a corkscrew with bayerncurve model which also had 2 corkscrews but a bit of a different layout. They had 1 of these at Knoebels.

This is a beautiful amusement park in Costa Rica! I like how they got a drop tower called "La Torre" and a Vekoma Boomerang named "Bumeran"! Which is also a funny name to name a Boomerang! But still, this theme park looks great!
That tree thing next to the bunny ears looks like a lowbudget version of the equivalent in Efteling!

The drop tower is a fabbri and these are too forceful in my opinion as they use pneumatics too push you down.

I was there YEARS ago, and the looping coaster was so tiny that the front of the coaster could high five the back of the coaster on the single loop. Looks like they got a lot more stuff since I was there, and I doubt that old coaster is there anymore. I refused to ride it because it looked unsafe.
I think that one was called "Huracán". no longer exists

Costa Rica was as far south as we went
unfortunately there's nothing interesting in the south, more of the same that you can easily find in any park in the US, but a curiosity, this Boomerang was from a park in Brazil.
