You are a legend. I can’t believe your wife’s irons have the exact problem I’m having with my straightener, do not underestimate the urgency with which this problem requires the most efficient of remedies. I haven’t got the time to send my irons for repair, I realise it’s not brain surgery and without my warranty card etc I am SO grateful for this video! I’m hunting the nearest solder gizmo and feel like I can totally get this done myself. Thank you SO much for making this stuff clear and easy to follow. 💎
so if the cord has been stressed and shorting in the 'reinforcement' part (about 1-2 inches from where the swivel) is to flat iron, do you know how to repair and save the swivel? Paul Mitchell XP-27 ProTools Express Ion. I know I can 'hard wire' it and not have swivel, but figure that will not last long. It's amazing how PM makes it so accessible yet offers no replacement swivel power cord.
Sorry I don't know. I would imagine you can find a swivel piece similar to that somewhere but I did a quick search and came up empty. Maybe the boot slides down off of it? If not, you could try cutting the boot off of it, soldering the wires, and then putting some shrink tube over it and re-installing the boot.
@@GiGi-mh7qh I haven't found a replacement swivel so I'm probably going to hard wire it as he did. There are some swivel cords on eBay from China, but the lead time is 1-2 months and I'm not sure they'll actually fit or be good so not even trying that.
My instyler wet to dry rotating iron electric cord has come lose as it wont light up on & off and stops as the cord moves (wiggles) flexible. Not sure how or where I can get it fixed. its over $100 iron & I love it. Its been 7-8 yrs since I bought and having issues for a mo now. if you have any suggestion pls respond. TIA
Thank you so much for you video! I've had my sedus for as long as I can remember and both stopped working at the same time. My only issue is I don't know what size or type of shrink wire tube wrap to buy....I will practice my soldering skills but I would appreciate if you could let me know what type of shrink wire tube wrap you used or recommend.
Here is a pack I just ordered. It comes with a variety pack of sizes. Find the smallest one that fits nicely over your wire and be sure to remember that it needs to slide over the soldering too - so make sure its sized appropriately. amzn.to/2VPKcXf
If your using any type of protectant it's going to sizzle off well you straighten your hair and it will leave a residue that's probably what your hearing
I also have a problem in my philips flat iron it..heats up and works too but the problem is that I need to relocate it a 100 times...like move it around and see when the light is switching on
charlieaf92 thank you so much for your feedback! You are right about the loose connection. I was able to take it apart and squeezed the metal inside the white piece but that didn’t do the trick ( did that a few times and tested it). The power goes on and off as soon as the cord swivels a bit.
@@talbiyeh6524 So you are still having a problem? I'd need to see the connection and the white piece you're talking about. If you want to email me pictures I can try to give you more direction and things to try. My email is just my youtube username @ gmail
Hi @Charlieaf92 Can I pay you to fix mine as well? I have a Babyliss Pro Nano Titanium 1.25" Titanium-Plated and it has the same issue. I don't have the tools to fix it.
Feel free to email me charlieaf92 at gmail and we can discuss. Unfortunately the cost to ship both ways and repair it will probably be close to what a new one would cost.
I followed you all the way to the separation and try to find some screws on the cord side, and there are not any screws I took off stickers nothing hidden it's like it's not meant to separate? It is a lionesse brand
Hey Betty I am sorry I didn't respond sooner. I am not sure about how it comes apart without seeing it. There could be hidden screws, but it also may snap together with no screws.
Sorry I don't know enough about this model to tell you what the problem is. It sounds like it is some sort of fault or short within the unit. You can certainly try opening it (while unplugged) and visually inspecting for loose connections. That would be a good starting point.
Please help me out I just brought a new hair straightener and it just doesn't wants to split from each other like it's the first time I use hair straightener is there a bottom or something

I don’t know what your pointing that you should actually just go closer to it like I need to see close cause my flat is not working my hair is not there right now. I’m trying to flat out. Please help me cause I don’t know what school you talking about

Awesome, happy to hear my video helped! Good luck with your repairs!

Hey Nikki. What brand is it? Is the problem you're having the same one I described in this video?

Yes

Is it normal for a flat iron to sound(sizzling)a bit while heating up everytime i turned it on?
Sorry I don't know the answer to this! I would look up how to clean the plates to remove any residue that may be burning off.
Hi sylvette is the noise coming from where the cord turns at the end of the straighter? Like a buzzing noise?

Sounds like a weak/broken connection. This approach should fix your problem if you can track it down.
My sedu/revolution has the same problem. Since it’s a different model, any tips on how to fix it? Thanks in advance!
If I had to guess I'd say its a connection in the base of the handle where it swivels. The only way to be sure will be to take it apart though.

Sorry, I'm not sure that I understand. Are you saying it won't open? If so, look for a clip or slide that may release it.
Hey man. My flat iron won't turn on at all and my mom's gonna kill me. What can I do to fix it??
Is there supposed to be grease on the plug? It looks like Vaseline?
On the metal ends of the wires themselves or around the outside of the plug where it touches the plastic housing?
Mine wont even turn on
Thank you!!
Did you get it fixed?
