*Subhan’Allah* literally means *’Allah is far Removed’* in the sense that He is glorious & majestic above all defects, and is far removed from any mistakes, shortcomings, or imperfections. It comes from the *root ‘S-B-H’* which literally means *”to float, to swim, or to glide”* and therefore carries the meaning of Allah being “far removed” and “high above” any deficiencies or ungodly things, since He is Transcendent & Perfect in every way, shape, and form.
So the phrase ‘Subhan’Allah’ is somewhat equivalent to the English phrase “So-and-so is *far above that!”* when describing how someone in a high position (like a leader, King or respected scholar) is not worthy of doing something foolish, petty, or “low” that is not befitting of their high and praiseworthy status.
For example, when the Qur’an talks about how Jesus Christ the son of Mary (peace be upon him) is NOT the son of God, it will often follow up by saying “Subhānahu!” which means “Far be it from Him!” Or “Allah is far above that!”-so again, even in the English you can see the meaning of “far” or “removed” in the translation, since it is _DISTANCING_ Allah from the imperfection of needing a child, and declaring that He is actually the Supreme & Transcendent God, who’s majesty does not befit such things; since He is the Self-Sufficient Creator.
So in conclusion: *Subhan’Allah = Allah is Glorious & Transcendent-He is far removed & high above any & all imperfections!*
Alhamdulilah. Hope this helps, and Salam to all :)

@@mustafat8141 it's complete brother. Let me explain. Hamd means praise. And Muhammad means praised ones. Mu( is the prefix to Hamd) Muhammad. Al is used to make the noun praise definite.al hamdu li Allah. Li means for or to. So it is lillah. We can't say li Allah separately. Because we should skip the alif of Allah when we make sentence. When discussing this I am reminded of a verse in the Qur'an,
    سَبَّحَ لِلّٰهِ مَا فِى السَّمٰوٰتِ وَمَا فِى الْاَرْضِ وَهُوَ الْعَزِيْزُ الْحَكِيْمُ
It is interesting to know about the meaning of this simple word. For my whole years till now, I didn't expect there to be such a deep hidden meaning behind it.
Throne of Allah is on the water. Allah made the water pure and purifying. He made everything that lives out of water. The water on this earth always occupies a low and level place when it is calm, while Allah is Most High. If it were not for His love, Allah would have drowned everything during the flood in Noah's time. And, in this life we must follow His "Sharia". Don't let us to sink, get dirty, and flow aimlessly. 🥰🤩

    A very interesting note:
The word سبحان is not derived from سبح
    It's derived from سبّح with shadah " ـّ "
    It's meaning:
It is considered a tribute and glorification, and it can also be used in the sense: “God is too high to be like this” or something like that.
    صلوا على النبي ﷺ 🤍

      Asslamo alikom,
Roots in Arabic must be three letters. سبّح with shaddah is not a root, it is a past tense, and it is not three letters. So, it is not the root, and can't be a root.

I’ve heard that the phrase سبحان الله is actually a contraction of the intended phrase أسبح سبحان الله with the subject/doer omitted, cos it would be odd that a statement begins without a doer. Similar to غفرانك. But the omission of the utterance of the doer is meant for a certain literary effect which I can’t remember what it is. If you could touch upon this would be appreciated.

You can be in water and float or be on some object: then you are not swimming. Swimming includes effort, it's progress by moving self, which is literally what Huroof sin-ba-Ha mean: sin - progress, ba - by, Ha - life, moving. Noun subHaan has a suffix -aan which adds duration to the noun, as in words qur'aan, burhaan, raHmaan, etc. SubHaan in subHaanAllah is in accusative, which talks that somebody has it as his/her state (Haal). Thus, subHaanAllah is progressing towards Allah by moving, putting own effort in. It's the state within some people, when they're conscious of Allah and they're choosing to do things to be nearer to Him, the way He teaches us as our Rabb. SubHaanAllah is when somebody's occupied by Allah, this is why it's dhikr, as a swimmer is occupied by the water.

Yes, the meaning here is correct. You have to have knowledge of the Arabic to understand the meaning that Aladin put forth. The swimmer continues to swim 🏊‍♂️ and thus Suhhaanallaah is a phrase that actualize the continuous praise of Allah as is deserving to Him, as everything in the heavens and the earth glorifies Him. His glorification never stops, never ends. By His Angels who are always obedient to Him, from mankind and jinn - willingly or unwillingly and all creatures great and small, the trees, plants, the stars and all the celestial bodies.

سبحان الله simply means Allah is free from any deficiency ✅
Glory be to Allah, Most High free from all perfection.
One is literally saying to Allah when he/she says subhaanallah:
How perfect you are (O Allah!) Most High.
Aladin is only going through the Arabic structure of سبحان.
Arabic is a living language that has moving and an effect upon the mind, body and soul which is why Allah Most High, Most Wise chose it. Allah knows best.
      إِنَّا أَنْزَلْنَاهُ قُرْآنًا عَرَبِيًّا لَعَلَّكُمْ تَعْقِلُونَ
Verily, We have sent it down as an Arabic Qur'an in order that you may understand. (Yusuf 12:2)
i.e., by contemplating it, deriving knowledge, wisdom and guidance from it.
      كِتَابٌ فُصِّلَتْ آيَاتُهُ قُرْآنًا عَرَبِيًّا لِقَوْمٍ يَعْلَمُونَ
A Book whereof the Verses are explained in detail; A Qur'an in Arabic for people who know. (Fussilat 41:3)
      قُلْ أُوحِيَ إِلَيَّ أَنَّهُ اسْتَمَعَ نَفَرٌ مِنَ الْجِنِّ فَقَالُوا إِنَّا سَمِعْنَا قُرْآنًا عَجَبًا
Say (O Muhammad): It has been revealed to me that a group (from three to ten in number) of jinns listened (to this Qur'an). They said: 'Verily! We have heard an amazing Recital (this Qur'an)! (Al-Jinn 72:1)"

    • @aladindelic
      @aladindelic ปีที่แล้ว +3

@@AbuibrahimIbrahim The language of the Qur'an is high above languages we use, including language of Arabs, because our thinking is defective comparing to Allah's Speech.
For example, at the start of surah Jinn you quoted, verb isteme'a is used. Verb seme'a means "to listen" (listed, heard), but isteme'a is in a reflexive form and it means "heard about self (selves)". We cannot know what they heard about themselves until their own words, where we understand that they were listening the Qur'an to hear about themselves.
If we listen the Qur'an, firstly to hear about ourselves, we'll have more use of it, as those jinn had. Instead, we think we know all, especially about ourselves, and people mostly, if they're listening/reading the Qur'an, wanna know about others, to argue, to blame, to fight...
