Wherr u at bro??
There is always haters in the welding trade
Nobody on any welding channel is as honest and forthright as this guy. Always a straight shooter.
First things first , thanks for making the video , I’m an ironworker/welder and it’s great to see younger guys out here on TH-cam giving tips and or anything about the weld life , you barely see anything on TH-cam with welders content looking forward to more content ! Will subscribe!
Hey I appreciate all the advice I'm not looking into being a pipeliner or a plant welder I'm just aiming to be a mobile repair guy but this is very good info
Every time I feel like giving up on this trade your vids get me back into work mode
Hey bro, good stuff and content. I’m a welder myself but in a different industry, Gas Turbine Repair. Much respect and keep up the good work. Saludos desde NC!
Probably the top 3 most helpful and well explained video I’ve seen on TH-cam, thank you
Thanks for the vid bro really helps out a lot and will help out for the future and your right about the 4x4 defiantly will need it especially if you live an area that snows. Stay up bro and stay safe 🤙🏼
No problem 👍
Watched this in 2022. After you said $100 dollars in gas just brought up good memories of gas being cheap lol
Just found your channel today. Love the videos man been watching all day !!
I have a 2013 2500 duramax with 250k on the clock and I bought a Miller 400 pipe pro Stainless 3 years ago love welding. I don’t do pipeline or chemical plant but I do structural and jacketed pipe for Asphalt Cement jacketed for heat transfer oil for tank farms. I seen you were in WI at the time of this video I’m from South West WI. Be safe
Keep it up Theweldlab...
You get what you give
Your intentions are helping others, guess what ? You're helping yourself being a better person, it's just the way it is.
Remember little brother of mine
" A drop of honey catches more flies than a keg of vinegar"
I ignore who come up with this
But it makes a lot of sense
Be safe, be happy, the Lord it's watching you and protecting you Always.

This video is huge help !
In welding school, can't edit get into the field.
Good info bro I just got into welding and I found a love. That’s a nice dually too
Awesome videos man! Been loving your channel!
Thank you great information and thanks for sharing your experience very helpful
I love your videos even though I am not a welder just a hobbyist. I like you as a person and good luck to you.
Love the vids man, it’s not my industry but it’s awesome to see the younger guys like yourself with a great work ethic making a great life for you and your family!
thanks for the feedback 💯
Couldn't sleep watched and I'm a chemical maintenance and I'm our only welder I'm in training. The 1 thing I never hear anyone say and I use a ton is brass hammer for beating on metal. And your right it's a restricted area in chemical plants. Also a few drop cords with explosion proof ends not a bad idea if you need to use there plugin. Loved the video I'm in process of just doing tig on everything I do and leaving mig.
thanks for watching 💯
Thanks for the video I'm from Houston myself. I'm trying to become a rig Welder myself. I been a welder for 13 years working in shops and I think it's time for me to do my own thing. God bless 💯
I am to, I’m trying get my own rig & out on road I be but fresh out gate , need a helper bro. I’m n WV
Got that machete on the ready for any Sasquatch encounters lol
lmfao ...im ready for war
Sasquatch will put a hole in you before you swing thoses motherfuckers are faster than you can imagine espeacially when they are on all 4s
Center finder (60-80$)
I Been peeping ur videos good shit !!I’m in pipe just trying learn my craft an prosper up an break loose ,working n LBC la Porte
Hey Brotha, your content is always good, trying to start my own company just like you!! Thank You, desde el Sur de Tejas
Badass vid like always keep grinding
Very sorry to hear about your Dad. It’s rougher when they’re gone so young. Sending you good juju..
I picked up a used Lincoln outback 185 for 800$ and fix3d up and runs great. I hope it's big enough to get started. I weld pipe but probably won't do much. I only got 50ft leads so I hope it's enough to get started..if not I'll just get more. I have a gmc Denali 2500 with 36gl tank and it costs crazy $ to fill, like 130+, but i get almost 600 highways miles from it. Thanks bro..be safe
in my experience the newer diesels break down more often than the older ones. I had a 2020 king ranch f250 that had lots of problems. A 5500 Cummins that kept having dpf and traction control issues too.But my old 7.3 Powerstroke with 300k and my 2002 Duramax have been the most reliable trucks ive owned.
“They had to get the forklift to pull me out”😂😂
thanks bro video was really helpful!
when you have time will you show the remote set up been welding 25 yrs in a fab shop never saw a remote never been on the line before . a new tool been in the field alot we never used the a remote. how to hook it up etc i would like to learn at 45 yrs old thank you Sir. grew love your channel up in van tx rode a few oil pumps in the day like a cowboy lol. love your channel peace
Keep hustling bro respect!
Thanks! Will do!
Thanks for the vid bro really helps out a lot
No problem 👍
You can always have a limited slip differential or a locking rear differential and that will do pretty good paired with some decent driving skill and that will keep you from getting stuck in most situations. And a winch will take car of the rest. And a welding rig should be able to supply electricity to the winch and a decent on bored air for the locker if you go that way.
Id hope any vehicle could power a 12v winch. Nobody is running a winch off their welder or their lockers from a mounted air compressor
I’m in the Roofing & Waterproofing trade, but I really enjoy your videos!
Awesome! Thank you!
Bigg time???
Good videos bro I really wanted to be a welder have experience Mig welder but I never work for it. Love to do that honestly.
thanks for supporting
Keep up the good content Rico👍🏽🔥.Have my rig rolling but just taking side jobs mainly fence&fab. I’m trying to learn that pipe I’m practicing when I have enough time. Just got my roots dialed in working on my caps. Got a short hood I been rebuilding. If you need some advice if ur machine starts acting up hit me up I know a lot about them.
thats whats up brother you have all you need to learn and ill def keep you in mind i hope i dont run into any issues
Good man, good information, good video.
A bathtub style rig it’s always best to have it on a frame with plate. People don’t know that there’s two types of fitters. Fitters who just fit fittings and people who can look at something and know how to puzzle things together in the least amount of field welds possible. Knowing how to layout and do accurate measurements. Just like a surveyor knowing what/ how to make everything as square as possible and level. To me personally fitting will humble yourself as a welder and know what it takes from point A-B. And in the long run save your eyes for the future. Much respect. I got a 3500 SRW and a 78 SA 200 blackface.
thats rite 🔥 ...i really want to become better at fitting i wanna fit just as good as i weld
What about doing a video on rig trailers? Like welding trailers a lot of people use for fence and barns etc
Great information....thank you
You come back to the HTX I’m gonna have to hit you up for a side gig if you have some free time.
I’m not a welder but enjoy your content. Also, you look like this one dude I went to school with at San Jac. Keep at bro, you seem like good peeps by helping others. 👏
Sounds great! keep in touch ill be vloggin when i go back
Would love to watch this tonight but need sleep for work tomorrow. I'll catch this in am have a good 1
Thanks for supporting 💯
Same bro😂😂
Get it bro 💯🤙🏾 soon I’ll be my own boss
Hope so man
Love these videos! Should I buy all this when I get out of tech school? I come from an economics background and fell in love with welding. I am unsure what path to take after graduation.
if you have a welder. find you scrap metal and burn rods for 8 yrs grind for 4 hrs wash rinse and repeat. get into your local state welding class i live in tn they call it tn tec great welding program. and find a welder you can work for as a helper but you will have to work harder than you ever worked in your life 100 miles a hr 16 hrs a day. after a few years then your the welder and can run your helper into the ground . does that make since?
people appreciate this man 🎉 🙏
Have you ever found yourself needing a wire feeder for your Lincoln?
I'm looking at used LN-25s , rather than buying a mig welder, but idk.
Go to Odessa an weld well heads oil is going back up... my buddy did that for 4 years an they were paying him 1500 a well head he was knocking out 3 a day for a long time
nice video man thank you!
Heck yeah bro been waiting for this video!! Thank you :)
thanks for watching
Damn bruh chi town here man I love the hustle
I've had brand new trucks and I've had lots of 2000 to 04 model Chevy 1500 Z71 and 2500s. I got away from new trucks because to be honest my 03 and 04 models without pull any of the newer trucks I had. and when these new trucks break they're all computerized you have to take them to a dealer or someone with the computer to work on them. Whereas my '04 models 403 models I could fix anything on it myself in the cost of maintenance was a lot cheaper. They pull better and I'm not afraid to jump in them and go across the country if I got to
i would advise if you dont have the money to buy a clamp to fund a buddy who will help you fab a " dearmen" style clamp. just some chain, a fastener, and some dogs.
I will be starting out slow doing small field repairs. Gonna get a generator and use my everlast welder as it is portable.
Don’t be ashamed to start with what you have bro .
Hey really liked your video. I'm currently living in southern California and going to welding school and get certified. Planning on moving out of state to Colorado or Arizona.
Can you get work especially out of CA. With out being certified?
One thing that will help: “HOTHEADS” Balaclava under the pancake or leather hood , Uncle Tony’s Favorite for cold job sites !🎥👍🏻😎
Super helpful bro 🔥💯 keep up the good work and stay safe out there #weldernation
💯
Do you need a million dollar insurance for the plants? What about a fire extinguisher or safety device like a ground cable?
Thanks for the info
with diesel at $5-$6 rn and our reserves close to running out I think getting a diesel truck as of October 2022 is obsolete sadly -- and when big rigs run out of diesel we're going ot be in a world of hurt, no food, no supplies its gonna be bad. Only 50,000 gallons of diesel left in reserve...
Nice video homie 🤙
Diesel is consistently .50-80cents higher here in nevada. Granted this is two years old but I don’t remember when it was more expensive than gas
Good advice to keep the costs down, but you gotta have stuff to work with. Its a balance act.
Bro I love your videos!
thanks for the feedback !
How did you first begin getting into rig welding I have been a welder for a while but never rig welding I do have the truck and welder but just don’t have the knowledge where is a good starting point
Hey brother how is your acetylene bottle mounted to the truck, is it just an angle iron on the top side of the bed? I'm trying to figure the easiest way I have a regular pickup bed to, thanks in advance
3/4 or 1ton truck preferably diesel 300 or better Amp rig I prefer Lincoln ,cutting torches, air arc, grinders, layout and hand tools ,material stands ,night lights ,rod oven, and best of all knowledge you will make more money if you are a certified welder that can read prints and build it this gentlemen is a craft that pays well so the more experience you have its easy to make 150,000.00 to 200,000.00 plus a year I know I have 38 years in this trade good for you my brother be successful
Would an SA 200 be decent for structural too? I know they’re designed more for pipe but is there any difference? Can I run a wire feeder off them?
Do a part 2 about protection such as helmets jackets and boots
hand torch and regulators. flame tech scorpion is a good budget starter set under $200
i totally forgot about that good one
Good video I’m just starting with a little flux core weld machine to practice at home👍🏻 trying this as side hustle for now
great start be carful to weld on anything if breaks will hurt folks find a use ac/dc machine try your had at tig welding
Some beveler Machines used are $600-$1200 complete on Facebook, just test in person that they work or look that they cut true or square as possible.
true that is a good affordable way to buy them
Good video bro 👍🏽
Aye I like this guy good shit , thanks for the info
Thanks for sharing.
Yo i got a question.
Do you have or I should say do you NEED a license of some kind for welding? And do you NEED SOME KIND OF INSURANCE for your rig?
Having a diesel truck is a blessing if not living here in California I got an 02 can't run because of all the b.s. and gas here is worse than any other state
I see a lot of people moving away from Cali
Hi bro
I have a question silverado 2500hd is good for rig truck???or do I have to go by bigger truck???
Cool, do i need all that if i want to do saturated deep dive welder/mechanic job?
I rigged out last March while I was helping on a compressor station in Carr Colorado and I didn't know anyone so its been impossible to even find a test. How do you get a foot in the door?
Hey bro, i got a question so ima go into welding ima start this month i have a mini truck and its 2wd and its a gass one ima get a dually eventually have you seen anyone in the field using any mini trucks as rigs? If so whats yiur thoughts on that
Don’t plan on doing welding but the advice for where to invest money at and where to get em cheaper like OfferUp helps out man preciate the advice and keep them good ass videos comin

I used a s10 when I was younger lol not for pipe line but just little stuff 1k truck with a 6k welder
Do you think a ranger 330 mpx good for pipeline welding
Bro we all want to know if its worth it to break out, how much do you espect to make doing chemical?
I was just wondering how you find jobs other than your contacts. Like is it practical to search up on the internet for rig work?
What did you use for the plate on the bed ?
Shit bro I knew immediately you're from Houston when I heard you talk. That's what's up.
When my brother first started he had a 2500 Cummins with 2 wheel drive with mud tires and chains and it worked out really good. But then once he started making cash he got a 4500 Cummins and got it all decked out and it puts out work like a mf
Nice video!
I'm looking at a 1991 7.3 idi with a 9x10 flatbed for $4500. The miles are unknown is this still a good buy?
cool set up
