    Wow, that was an amazing recovery, Janae -- well sat. Percy is such a cutie. And Milo in his mary-janes, so handsome and so capable. You can tell his feet aren't bothering him at all now without shoes. He looks amazing, so bold and beautiful (and he looks so handsome in green). Your mom's commentary, as always, is so sweet. It's funny how now when I listen to her say "good kid" I know she's talking to Milo :)

    I had my horse barefoot for a couple of years and had similar boots like you do. Unfortunately she is very sensitive and she couldn't go in her pasture without them. And I think they are great if you live where its more dry or snowy and icy. But here in Sweden its always muddy and I rarely ride or work her indoors, always outside on hacks. And then the mud and stones got inside the boots and hurt her that way instead. Now she has regular shoes, even though I'm not thrilled about it she is more comfortable and can be outside with her friends all the time ❤
    You gotta find what works for you! We jumped in them too, worked well

    Shelby, how far Milo has come, well, is absolutely incredible. He is so forward and bold, he is so brave over oxers. Really cool and interesting video showing the great Scoot boots, and what you can do in them, in inclement weather, too.. My OTTB mare that I've had 6 months now, I pulled the aluminum plates she had on when she was at the track, 2 weeks after I brought her home in January. Well, she was okay during the rainy months, but she is turned out every day all day, and we haven't really had much rain since March, and the ground is so hard. I tried everything, even daily turpentine painting of her soles to toughen them up. ( old school farrier recommendation) unfortunately the barefoot experiment wasn't working, and she was just too tender every single day. So I had to put shoes back on her fronts.😔 Her soles were just too thin to handle the hard, rocky ground we have in Northern California. Maybe, I can try again to have my thoroughbred barefoot, unfortunately sometimes they need the extra support from shoes. ( I am a HUGE anti- shoe fan, so I didn't want to put them on her, but I had to, to make her more comfortable. ) I wish our ground was softer like yours in Canada, and I will also research the scoot boots too. Thanks!!

    it was so funny, last Wednesday, my riding instructor was being asked a question during my lesson, and this was her reply " back boots are over rated" lol, my instructor is funny, but stern, idk how to put it but she is very patient and understanding with nervous horses and riders, but when horses give her nonsense and throw their butts around and stuff she takes non of it.

    i think it would be so interesting to look into the psychology of horses more. they have emotions just like humans (they can be happy,sad,angry,etc) and i know they can be depressed so i’ve always wondered if there are horses who are psychopaths or sociopaths? i think there’s so much we don’t know about them even though there has been so much research and we’ve learned so much about them over the years. i’d love to hear your thoughts on it!!

    • @anakruger2412
      @anakruger2412 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's really interesting to think about! I wouldn't say they have emotions JUST like humans (as in they don't have our exact kinds of emotions) but they certainly have a wider range of emotions than some people think.

    Two things:
    1) has Milo just gotten more chilled out lately? He looks fantastic!! I wonder if the break you gave him was just what he needed. On another note, I also wonder if his feet were bugging him due to thin soles? I'll be looking forward to your review on the scoot boots. But either way, he looks awesome.

      aresblue Ok, from standing beside the trailer in the rain for 5 minutes.... im not sure how you would expect anyone to ride year round if a slightly damp horse would make you fear for their safety. If your tacks fits, it should never rub so if this happens to you, I would highly recommend getting a saddle fitter out because your saddle does not fit if dampness worries you.
      Horses also sweat during work so even on dry days, their saddle pads are never going to come off perfectly dry and same with their coats.

      Susan Tescione I’m not sure how you’d know what he’s usually like as I’ve not posted any vlogs of him off property...? He’s been schooled off property twice and is a 4 year old standing in crossties for the first time, his behaviour in this video certainly is not unusual for him or any horse of his age at all. He’s actually very level headed and quite phenomenally brave considering his lack of experience and young age.
