Great that he was able to view his accident with her so impartially and understand that she is an animal and therefore had no malice when she crushed his leg, and that it was partially due to his inability to see the signs. Really bittersweet stuff.

I'd agree about the malic statement but the horse was obviously experiencing some displeasure. Also animals can dislike certain individuals very much. Not to the point of malic but not that far off. The only reason non human animals can't experience very complex emotions like malic is. The lack of development of the prefrontal cortex. That section of the brain is responsible for the complexity of human thoughts. If that section of the brain is severely damaged the individuals cognitive ability will be that of a child.

I almost felt like she was saying sorry when she came to the window while he was healing (or maybe she wanted treats). My dog bopped my nose while playing, when I tried to hold my nose he wrapped his arms around my neck and hugged me so tightly that I couldn't touch my face. All the while he was whining in gasps which is how he says he is sorry. I'm probably wrong, but if she didn't like him and wanted to hurt him, it could've been way worse.

@@VivianaSilverback I'm sure the horse had a reason for bucking. The horse always has a reason for it's behavior and it's never the horse's fault. The horse behaves like a horse. It's the human's fault for not being able to read the horse. That doesn't mean the horse understands why the human is now on the ground and not on it's back. They are not able to deduce. All they know is they bucked and the rider dismounted. Anyone who has horses knows that if you give your horses a treat on a regular basis, they will start to head butt you for treats when they see you. The horse will push to see your hands and if you have your hands in your pockets they will assume you have a treat and start getting pushy. They aren't asking for a treat. They are shaking you down. Finally, the treat falls out of your hand. They know if they do that long enough a treat appears. Horses don't think like humans do, no matter what you say. It was. This is why we listen to the animals like he said. He said: I did all the wrong things.
Usually when accidents with horses happen it is exactly as he described it.
When something feels off: do not get on the horse.
And as he said: but as a human I did it anyway.
And this is why this happened. It is unfortunate very much so because he got hurt badly but he knows that there were signs.

No, the horse clearly didn’t want to be ridden, and the owner decided for her that she was going to. She showed him that she wasn’t in the mood, and his leg injury was his consequence for making her do something she didn’t want to.
It’s like a kid that gets to close to a dog when it’s eating, the dog growls to show he wants his space, and then, if the kid keeps messing with him, the dog snaps at him, then, the kid goes and tattles on the dog. “I can bug you even if you don’t want me to, but you better not get mad at me if I do.”
Sounds like a narcissistic, bully mindset. 😠

My friend has 3 pit bull rescues, and had me dogsit the puppy while the 2 grownup dogs went to the vet. He was put in the office while the other dogs went in the car, but my friend left & I let him out. Even tho he knew me really well, he was scared, and we think he thought I took the whole family away. He was a puppy, but already a big boy (he looks to be a pit-rottie mix, he was literally thrown out as an infant, likely because he had a small birth defect). He started getting aggressive with me, and was snapping, but also pushing me to back up into the bathroom. He was such a good boy, he didn't know what to do, so instead of actually mauling me, he got me into the bathroom, let me lock myself in (I called my friend immediately!), and that way he could neutralize the threat without hurting me. Once everybody was calm, he and I spent a long time together and reconnected. We were all so proud of him for such good thinking, but I'm proud of me too, for realizing what he was doing & not panicking.

@@creativecheersoffashionlau7364 - I always did listen to horses, from an early age. Even when I had Instructors in middle & high school, I never embraced their harsh, many times cruel ways. My philosophy & goal was that I wanted the horse to like & respect me enough to WANT to give me their best. Anyone with a crop can beat a horse enough to make them do something but I NEVER wanted to 'win' by fear. It had to be mutual respect. Later in life, I spent 12 years with my OTTB & a herd of 8. Some of my best times were sitting in the back pasture with the herd on a sunny afternoon. The Arab gelding, whom I ❤, would lay down next to me & put his head & neck in my lap. He was so gentle & careful of me. I was taking jumping lessons at a barn a few miles away & she hit an air pocket in an arena w/ new footing, new instructor, etc., etc. She did a 360° rotational & I am very lucky to be alive & not paralyzed, but the damage is significant. Sadly, my riding days came to a crashing halt. It will never get better & my missing them hasn't lessened one iota - after all these years. I miss the sounds, their sweet smell and... everything. I'm glad you still get to be around yours. Hand grazing outside of their normal pastures is a very bonding experience. ❤🐴❤🐎

But understand this it's DANGEROUS to have a heavy animal in a confined space with so many obstacles. It's a death trap & he just doesn't know he's in one. Horses can get very attached to humans & vice versa as this one has but it takes one second for them to accidentally react & crush you in a small space.

I'm so sorry that you are afraid of horses.
I love horses and can't imagine being afraid of them.
      Maybe this will help.
Horses tend to be like dogs.
Like you ever notice how the really big breeds like Saint Bernards are really gentle, and the tiny ones like Chihuahuas are more outwardly emotional?
Horses are pretty much the same.
The big ones are gentle giants.
Horses are incredibly emotional. Easily same as dogs and people.
Horses bonds to people and other animals are very strong. There are multiple videos on TH-cam of horses being reunited with former owners and horse friends after YEARS of separation and they joy in their eyes is incredibly touching to see.
I would highly recommend watching Black Beauty, War Horse, and Spirit (Dreamworks movie).
All are incredible films to watch, and might give you a different outlook on how emotional they really are.
When a horse bonds with you, it is a truly life changing experience.

I'll never understand how people can blame a horse for bucking a human off its back. They're not robots, they have complex emotions and a person's failure to read the animal is 100% the human's fault if they ride the animal. There's nothing natural about having a human sitting on their back, they only learn to tolerate it.. but sometimes they get fed up and often don't understand how weak and fragile humans are compared to them, so what might seem like a simple shrugging gesture to dislodge the pesky human can be disastrous to us. Anyone who would blame the horse for it is a simpleton. I understand humans in the past needed horses as a means of travel and as beasts of burden.. but those days are behind us, there's no reason humans today should be using horses for riding. I can carry a 20 pound child on my back as easily as a horse could carry a 180lbs man... doesn't mean I want to or would like it though.. why would the horse? People should just care for the horse and let it enjoy life, be its friend.. but people shouldn't use it as a beast of amusement in the modern day.

LOL talks about a horse in the house like it's a furniture or something

He said that like it was such a mundane thing, it's so funny! 😂

You're a champ. Such a beautiful bond. Pure soulmates.

Beautiful story. Connections with our animal friends like this is a special gift to cherish. I've had horses follow me into the house, wild bluejays ride on my shoulder and even hummingbirds fly with me into the house. This was of course decades ago but the images are still fixed in my head and memory as if they happened yesterday.
