I went to my high school prom in a 79 coup deville 2 door 400V8 , I was the smallest guy in the biggest car ! That car saved my life twice! My daddy bought it from a lady we did work for , she gave it to him as a payment for work he did ! Man I miss it !
Stunning you are right, but to compare it to European is an insult. US manufactures trying to copy euro cars are the reason we don’t have all the cars that this channel brings. Apples and oranges. I spent all my 56 years back and forth between the US and Germany and these cars are as unique and beautiful as the euro cars. Separate but equal…lol
Nothing like a land-yacht like this...I drove this car once (same color too)...marshmallow suspension, turns / swings wide, sofa on wheels, a cruising chuck of steel, awesome "make-out" car... You haven't lived until you've driven one of these...it feels like you own the road.
It looks weird without the top! Not in a bad way, but you can tell the roof was made for a vinyl roof lol. My grandparents friends had this exact model, year, and color. I rode in it in 1983, they had just bought it. I remember climbing in the backseat to sit with my gram. She commented that it would be hard for her to climb back there haha. It had velour seats though. 80’s GM velour is my favorite. Beautiful car, thanks for sharing!
I can only imagine your showroom Anthony... Your inventory consists of what I consider to be... Real American Automobiles... Can't wait for the 2008 Cadillac DTS Lux2 video, outstanding!!
I have an 100% original Lincoln continental in triple black, 62,000 miles , family car, love the big caddys and Lincoln's , I personally like the top delete , clean looking, and love the plain hubcaps, nice car :)
I worked in the industry back in the day. This was a car that most Caddy dealers of any size kept one of on the lot. There was a lot of people, especially elderly back in that period that were afraid of the options being something to give trouble. They wanted the Caddy but not all the extras so they would not have something to go wrong, LOL! Also no V.top as that was something to peal and go bad! So many dealerships in that day kept one of this kind of car to meet that market of buyer. I owned some of them as they usually were traded in or more often sold after the owners death and had few miles on them, etc. They were great cars to buy and drive. I loved them then and now! If I were there this one would have a new owner, me!
It wasn't just black folks friend. It was *most* consumers in general. By 1983, consumer opinion and outlook on the auto industry had soured greatly. The malaise era was in full effect.
Per dealer manual DeVille you could have the 'delete' option for Landau Top, but for 2dr Fleetwood was a condition along with opera light. Those pillar Landau tops rarely caused issue, in fact became selling point as GM forced owners if they wanted Landau top with opera light was to buy Cadillac but would have to put up with the HT4100 or Diesel nonsense. Following 1983 Delta 98s and Buick Park Av/Lesabre/Elektra no longer had opera light, and Chev Impalas discontinued Landau tops altogether.
Love this car, colour and this channel, another hit for Mr G. The vinyl delete makes it look more elegant to my eyes. Even the little blast of Blondie that we heard on the stereo was period correct 😀
The only (other) times I'd seen a DeVille without a vinyl top was in our local 🎳 Bowling Alley, back in 1969-70. The Leagues were raffling them off brand new. The '69 was a similar color blue with dark blue cloth interior. I was just 9-10 during that era, but was impressed! I believe the '70 was silver over black, no vinyl top. They were Calais models or "stripped" DeVilles, still very nice cars!

You are truly a big game hunter. And with luck and God's blessing you have brought this beast home. This is definitely a 10 point buck and you are trophy bound. Thank you for consistently giving us entertaining honest and positive reviews on the cars we grew up with and loved. We shouldn't be too worried about that caddy crazy engine, with just a little bit of effort say in about 20,000 miles you could put in a decent crate engine say maybe a 350 or maybe a 454. I couldn't remember is this fuel injection or carburetor and does she have the GM 400 dyna flow Transmission. Thank you for your time.
Awesome. My dad ordered the exact car new, same color, same interior and no vinyl top, with wire wheel covers, but with a diesel. It didn't give him any trouble. That was a really nice car.
I loved my 1977 Cadillac Seville as well as the 1979 Seville I had purchased. Then moved on to Mercedes-Benz and I've never been back since. But, ironically I would love to get my 1979 Seville back. With wire wheels, and the gold paint, and that fuzzy fur carpet that you'll never ever find again. In the Corinthian leather seats that you just don't ever see. Best car ever had in my life, 1979 Cadillac Seville.
It's refreshing to see a Coupe DeVille---Sedan Deville's are everywhere, but not the coupes. I personally love the fact that it doesn't have a vinyl top, I think it has a cleaner look. They may not have been fast, but certainly no slower than the Olds 307 used in some DeVilles
I think the vinyl top delete option was rarely rarely ordered. I've only seen less than 5 in my whole life. This color on the other hand was more common than you think. Lou Constable did a review of a 1985 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham 2 door with a vinyl top in this color. Not a huge fan of the standard hubcaps but they are fairly rare to see. All around just a great car.
@John Sluder I'm all in favor of better fuel economy so the size, 4.1, was fine with me. The problem with its durability was the fact that this engine was the first GM produced with aluminum blocks and an iron heads. The two dissimilar metals, which GM didn't account for in its testing, cause the two parts of the engine to expand and contract at different rates resulting in a high number of blown headgaskets.
My mom had one of these when it was about 10 years old. We where kinda poor growing up so she couldn’t of paid a whole lot for it but it was super clean I remember riding in the back seat for long trips to her job it felt huge.
The car has been repainted. Anyone can see there is no pinstriping on the car. My dad had a 81 coupe deville that was 2 tone blue with that same blue leather interior. Was stunning. Nice looking car!
My grandpa owned this with vinyl. Same color. Same condition. He lived in Rochester NY. And we weren’t in a position to end up taking it down from NY. Very upset I missed out on owning it. I would LOVE this. Do you always have cars like this for sale? I’ll definitely be looking down the road. Dream car for me. I love these old Cadillac’s. Beautiful.
Great video Anthony! I really really like the no frills of it all edition!😁 I would purchase it today but I need to sell my car 1st 😭😭 believe me it will take me 10 yrs to put another 10k miles on this car what a beautiful car!
It's a great looking Cadillac in good shape, but don't get too attached to it with the HT4100. (Do your research) Anthony, you have some of the finest Cadillac's listed here that I have ever seen, but what's up with the miss matched paint on the bumper fillers? They have paint chip technology where the computer matches it up perfectly.
Wow this car caught my attention looks beautiful brings me back memory. A old cousin had one of these. What I can remember it drove smoothe and plenty of leg room. Thank you for posting. This beautiful classic Cadillac. Starts right up.
My first car was exactly this car, except in a metallic tan exterior and brown velour interior. It was an excellent car except for the underpowered HT4100. The engine never gave me any problems, but it was not ever meant to pull these full-size cars. As far as the top, I wished mine had one as they are classy and look nice on this style and era of car. However, given that these cars are now reasonably rare and not having the top was rare to begin with, I can see how this appeals to those still looking for distinction without the overly formal styling.
Fuck no 8000 bucks man shit I'll give him 1000 bucks for it most 1500 bucks ..this people always trying to rip people out of there money trying to get rich.
It's amazing how much people are trying to get for these old cars. Back in '96 I payed $2,500 for mine!! Back in '84 I bought a '74 Buick LeSabre for $ 500 hundred dollars. I guess those days are over....What a shame!! At least we can say we were able to own cars like these before people were trying to get rich off of selling cars like this!!!! SMH.
@@suomi5454 yeah in 1973 I could have bought a 1967 Buick wildcat from my friend grandma. for 600 dollars absolutely mint. condition.700 dollars back then could buy you a very nice car,I bought a lot of different cars back then and some pick-ups always wheeling and dealing back then. in 76 I bought a 67 Chevy belair 2 Dr coupe mint with 327 275 horse clean car A/C ice cold. for 275dollars. I mean it was quiet and ran perfect,no cars were cheaper back then even accounting for inflation.but times do change.just writing this makes me feel younger and how it made me feel buying a car driving for a while and selling for something else. fun it was back then.
A friend in San Francisco ordered a 1974 black Coupe DeVille with A/C delete(cadillac offered the a/c for free, but he didn't want it.) It came with factory added floor vents. Vinyl top delete and vinyl upholstery(no leather). He did have the am/fm stereo radio. It didn't have tilt wheel, either. It looked so different from any other 74 Cadillac. It had no cruise control or twilight sentinal
Hi Anthony- had a friend in CT some years back who had the same year coupe in Balboa Blue vinyl top delete and wheel discs. dont recall the power accessories his car had or didnt have. but I do remember his car had a dark blue velour interior. He purchased it from an elderly woman.
What a beautiful car with some unique lack of options! Very surprised to see owner opted for leather, but not the "normal" options! Until I bought a '91 Sedan Deville I had, I didn't realize how much Cadillac goodies I thought were standard, were optional! This '91 I has was absolutely bare bones Cadillac! It had cloth, manual passenger side seat, NO light up vanities, etc. Sometimes option delete cars can be real neat!
I had a 1982 Coupe Deville 4100, and a 1983 Fleetwood 4100, and I swore they both had chrome valve covers too. I miss that car! I LOVE my '90 Brougham d' Elegance, but I definitely also want a '80-'84 (prefer the '81-'84 seat pattern) Cadillac Coupe Deville or a rarer '80-'84 Sedan Deville. Love watching the videos on these survivors!
The type of vinyl roofs on these cars especially, added to insulating sound making it quieter inside the cabin of the car .That said it's really neat finding one in such great condition that doesn't have one and what a beauty!
Beautiful car!! I noticed on the right side there are three different shades of the metallic blue paint. The original color behind the door pilar, then the right door, and then the dog house (hood and fenders). These light metallic colors are very hard to match with the original color but whomever did the body work did a nice job!
The 4100 gets more criticism than it deserves. To my knowledge the rod knock issue mostly effected the front wheel drive cars from 85-87, and then it wasn't consistent and from what i've read many cars had recall work done which remedied the problem. My very first car as a young lad was a mint 1987 Sedan DeVille (obviously I love these cars) with the 4100, it unfortunately did develop some rod knock, but many people report the car goes a long time with it. I drove mine for 20k with it and it didn't get worse or cause issues. It's doubtful this car would ever have that problem. It's not a powerful engine, but it is very smooth and refined.
Looks fantastic without the Fo-Top - I grew up with a carbon copy of this car that my grandfather daily drove until 2012. His had 86k when my uncle sold it on eBay. Would LOVE to find another. Impeccable vehicle!!!
The chrome strip down the hood was last seen on the ‘83. As the ‘84s rolled out, it wasn’t included. I really like it... it’s a true Cadillac mark... along with the ‘V’ under the emblem.
You pulled out one from the past in excellent shape! I like how you find these cars and get them back into shape and drive them to and from places. No one will forget the great downsizing era at GM( 1985-1987) and the great upsizing 1988-1992. Thar car has some classic Cadillac styling cues. I am glad to hear you and your father are in business as a family. Sad about Oldsmobile. It should still be here. I remember the 4.1 liter V8. You were on the money about the engine being like Northstar. The 4.5 and 4.9 liter grew out of the 4.1 liter V8. It is interesting how the cluster was updated for Brougham in 1990. Thank you again for sharing. I am still tempted to write you and tell you what I am looking for when I am ready.
Cool find! I had an '82 Fleetwood Brougham HT4100 and it had the chrome valve covers. Not sure if they started putting them in at the very end of '82 production or if it was a warranty replacement of the original engine or what, but it did exist!
This car reminds me of my 1985 Olds Delta 88 that I loved. What a ride, so smooth. But, I had tilt wheel and wire wheels, plus padded vinyl top. Cars don't ride like these anymore.
Watching from Scotland.really enjoy these videos and walk round of cars.always liked American cars especially 70s thru 90s.I recall cadillac actually sold right hand drive Seville 5th generation models in uk in 1998 for a couple of years.there is a guy in my town who bought one new in 98 and was still driving it last year.
My parents had a 78 Pontiac Bonneville coupe in this same Silver Blue color with blue crushed Velour int. Its amazing how all GM cars are basically the same body with different names. Not much has changed.
I had the new 84' total white Coupe Brougham. It even came with a CB as standard equip. The height of the 80's dance clubs was raging and so was I in that car. I use a pic of it and me as my Facebook homepage. The stories that car could tell.
A friend of mine had a dad who bought one of these his son at the time was a senior in high school. i felt so bad for him, he was so embarrassed. You have to realize in those days, guys were driving Datson B-210s and Plymouth Satellites.
I had one this engines on my Cadillac aluminum block cast iron heads I had head gasket leaks on it beautiful plane Jane Cadillac too bad they didn’t come with the olds 307 in this year very reliable engine compare to the ht 4100 low torque on this .
I had an 82 same color with the 4100 and disc hub caps.I love this car without the vinyl top. Would like to have the tilt and trunk lid that closed soft though, and the original radio but still very nice.
Looking at the original brochure, they called it a "Cabriolet Vinyl Roof" and was available option on the Coupe Deville, standard for the Sedan Deville. It wasn't a "delete" option. The Coupe De Ville was essentially the bare bones basic Cadillac with the least amount of standard features.
My grandpa used to have one of these possibly this year and he loved it. He said he had 8 people in the car going to the lake one time. The only reason he got rid of it was the price of premium gas and the gas it liked to chug which he couldn't afford when he got laid off.
Wow Anthony, this 1983 Coupe DeVille is a rare car the way it was ordered with the vinyl top delete, no floor mats, or trunk release pull down. The interior appears to be in immaculate condition, no rips, tears, or cracks, and the gauge cluster was crystal clear. I like that you repaired the power antenna, and replaced the bumper filler extensions, too often these repairs are left to the new owner. I have a question though, is the 4100 series Cadillac engine the one with the 8-6-4 cylinder deactivation feature? I can't remember. As always, I love the presentation of the vehicles you feature on your channel, you're always so honest, and thorough, about each car's pluses and minuses. It's why I continue to enjoy being a subscriber!
Vinyl top was included with many option packages. If an owner wanted a particular option, but not the vinyl top; they would pay to have it "deleted". This was an extra 250.00 charge.
@@LynxStarAuto I'm sorry but vinyl roof was standard on the Fleetwood Broughams (coupe & sedan), Limousines and Eldorado Biarritz only. Assuming the vinyl top was included in an equipment group (which I seriously doubt as all equipment groups that I've seen pertained to convenience options only) it would have made no sense to order that group and delete the roof, let alone for a $250 charge. Desired options would simply have been ordered individually. Even on DeVille d'Elegance, vinyl roof was not standard equipment.
Roll, roll, the '83, Cadillac coupe deville, if my tapes and my cd's just don't sell, I bet my caddy will

what a great survivor. at the time, these were the cheapest way to get into a Cadillac. amazing it actually survived.
Absolutely stunning! Coupe Devilles have always had a special place in my heart. Slick top gives it that clean European look.

Bald Top. I got that too
Totally agree about the vinyl top!
I LOVE it much better that way . No rust will form the trim of the top . Very beautiful car .
If my Pops was still alive, I'd definitely try my hardest to purchase it for him. I never seen him cry.
Anthony Cadillac blue is beautiful just the way it is
That is gorgeous Cadillac. The 1983 Coupe Deville canary yellow with the vinyl is my dream car.
The 80's Cadillac's had beautiful color combinations across the board in there line up.
TRUE! I can even attest that the Cimarron had beautiful leather interiors, the only "Cadillac" thing about that car!
Amazingly well kept. I believe Leather Interior was the only option on this car.
I love that it is a hard top. Vinyl and rag tops are not good here on Galveston island, TX. The salt air tears them up here lol
Same o have a 83 deville sedan and the top is burnt :( but i love in phoenix az so 116 degree weather is no joke
I should buy it, in 50 years i will be 80 and use it for early bird specials. And yell at kids "GET OFF MY LAWN."

That car has a HT4100 motor.Look it up..Pure trash
i have an 83 and never had any issues and it does deliver relatively good economy. that motor wouldn't deter me!
Owned one..a 84..SMOOOOTH DRIVER..loved it!!!
Hi Anthony I had a few Cadillacs an so did a lot of my family members the HT4100 never gave us no problems they were all great cars 🚗
I'm obviously obsessed with your channel love the 80s caddyshack, and love how u price in description
Thanks! I price in the description so I can edit the price as needed. Thanks for subscribing!
Love it! If I had the money I'd buy it in a heartbeat!
I love these cars . I especially like them without the vinyl top . It's a beautiful , timeless design . I'd love to own one . I will sion enough .
Beautiful car!! I noticed on the right side there are three different shades of the metallic blue paint. The original color behind the door pilar, then the right door, and then the dog house (hood and fenders). These light metallic colors are very hard to match with the original color but whomever did the body work did a nice job!
Only seen with out vinyl on Eldorado , Seville, Caddilac Never seen w/ flat disk hubcaps. That's beyond rare.
Beautiful Caddilac..
That's a beautiful car, love the color, love the bare roof!
I just bought a 4 door for 2500 with 90k original miles,grey color.
Dlt215 🔥
The chrome strip down the hood was last seen on the ‘83. As the ‘84s rolled out, it wasn’t included. I really like it... it’s a true Cadillac mark... along with the ‘V’ under the emblem.
I'm from Miami fl , over here we love classic cars especially Cadillac what we do customized cars put them on 22 inches tires .
I have a 1984 Oldsmobile Regency 98 coming in you will LOVE!
@@specialtymotorcars look forward to seeing it! I still think i may have write to you.
I love them with the vinyl tops, but this one is gorgeous
Cool find! I had an '82 Fleetwood Brougham HT4100 and it had the chrome valve covers. Not sure if they started putting them in at the very end of '82 production or if it was a warranty replacement of the original engine or what, but it did exist!
Very well could be either of those scenarios!
Chrome covers were on all 82-83. In 84 they got black covers.
Pure and classy ride. Looks great and clean; congratulation!😊
That beauty would sale real fast down here in Texas. Especially the Houston area
This car is gorgeous
Very clean. But, who deletes tilt and telescoping steering??
This car reminds me of my 1985 Olds Delta 88 that I loved. What a ride, so smooth. But, I had tilt wheel and wire wheels, plus padded vinyl top. Cars don't ride like these anymore.
Watching from Scotland.really enjoy these videos and walk round of cars.always liked American cars especially 70s thru 90s.I recall cadillac actually sold right hand drive Seville 5th generation models in uk in 1998 for a couple of years.there is a guy in my town who bought one new in 98 and was still driving it last year.
Those cars are like floating on a cloud
I’m telling you I know where I’m buying my old school wait on it 💯
My parents had a 78 Pontiac Bonneville coupe in this same Silver Blue color with blue crushed Velour int. Its amazing how all GM cars are basically the same body with different names. Not much has changed.
That’s a really sweet ride. It’s actually very unique. Not to many like it for sure.
I had the new 84' total white Coupe Brougham. It even came with a CB as standard equip. The height of the 80's dance clubs was raging and so was I in that car. I use a pic of it and me as my Facebook homepage. The stories that car could tell.
Lol..EXACTLY!!!
downsized but huge by todays standards
Just absolutely beautiful...
Ya '76 was last of the big ones but these are good cars
Paul Cheek No he was referring to the later 1985 Cadillacs.
A friend of mine had a dad who bought one of these his son at the time was a senior in high school. i felt so bad for him, he was so embarrassed. You have to realize in those days, guys were driving Datson B-210s and Plymouth Satellites.
Bald caddy looks one off, neat. You could have mentioned last year, 1983 for Coupe DeVille.
The same year that I was born. I would love to have this coupe.
I had one this engines on my Cadillac aluminum block cast iron heads I had head gasket leaks on it beautiful plane Jane Cadillac too bad they didn’t come with the olds 307 in this year very reliable engine compare to the ht 4100 low torque on this .
"land yacht" for sure but looks beautiful.😎
I was looking for that coupe de ville with the blinkers on the inside and the headlights outside. 4 headlights
Hard top is sooo much cooler get another black Eldorado 81-85 and im ON IT
Love the vinyl-less roof! Beautiful car!!
Hard top.. vinyl are called soft top.. Love the car and the video
Wow I love it. I had a 1977 Fleetwood brougham and crashed it also one owner. I need another soon.
The 4100 was not the engine you are thinking. That was the 1981 version of the 368 big block.
@@specialtymotorcars Gotcha!
Not "vinyl top delete" - it simply wasn't ordered. Vinyl roof was not standard on DeVille.
