Having worked for the original Highways Agency, I know that this is the tip of the iceberg. Highways ave changed their name at least three times. on each ocassion all uniforms, logo's and vehicle liveries had to be changed and previous items thrown away. I don't know the cost but it must have been staggering. The changes are largely down to highly paid senior Civil Servants in big offices well removed from reality, trying to justify their exorbitant salaries.
Used to work there. They waste money like you wouldn't believe. As an employee I was happy it paid my salary to piss about following pointless procedures that achieved ZERO progress or benefit but as a taxpayer I was absolutely f'king livid.
It's for "public safety" of course! You silly goose! Not enough money and resources for all the serious crime though.. but fixed penalty confetti to shower the general public with? Have a brand new car, new uniform, new warrant card, and a shiny brand new chip on their shoulder to boot... got all the resources in the world for one of them around every corner.. almost as if it costs too much to catch and jail real criminals.. and far more lucrative to penalise everybody else for things they never agreed to being "offences" in the first place and never should have been.. 🤔🫣👀
There's a petrol station on the A41 that people travel miles to get to. Don't get me wrong, they are cheaper.... but is it worth spending the money you save getting there!!!
How about, nip off at junction 2 of the m5. Adsa on roundabout, must be the cheapest fuel in any asda too. Always seems cheap when I pass, your straight off an back on.
@thetruckerseye ha ha, yeah, bitch in the wagon mind. I have enough fuel in that to get down an back up northwest to preston. In the car or on the motorbike though, its spot on. My mates mum lives off junction 3.
I can tell you how it happens. The problem is that successive governments won’t fund the major investment in new road projects that the network requires. Instead, they put National Highways under pressure to try and improve things by spending smaller amounts on schemes and initiatives that it struggles to find. That way, the government can be seen to be doing something, whilst spending the real money on other things it considers to be more important. What you see here is just one example of many small initiatives that have been tried and failed. Not to mention all the expenditure on developing ideas that go nowhere. And frankly, ideas that anyone with any common sense could see were non-starters. But handing money back because you can’t find anything useful to spend it on is an admission of failure. Not just for the organisation, but also the ‘negative’ individual who speaks out. And nobody’s career can withstand that.
There's an Asda petrol station a couple of miles from the Taunton (A358) exit of the M5 that I've used a couple of times ... Adsa petrol at Wheatley (M40, near Oxford Services) I've been to a lot more as I used to work near there! There's also an Asda near the M40 High Wycombe ... Why would you fill up at a motorway service station? Out of desperation I've put in £5 once, even with my limited skills at planning once in 36 years of driving is too much!
From jct 36 to 34 at Tinsley they have been adding extra emergency bays on both sides, For the last two weeks there has been not piece of plant or workmen sorry workpersons working on this stretch, but its still down to 3 lanes and the 50 limit is still in force with the camera's still working. To bring in the revenue.
Great video, typical govt wastage. Would have been interesting to see the typical price of fuel in that area when it was filmed, as like most people I try not to buy fuel at a motorway service station.

Oh do tell more 😂😂😂
Money is no object when it's not yours! 🤬
*Never* buy fuel at a motorway service station, it's a rip-off. Find a petrol station _near_ a motorway junction en route.

National Highways is, in my opinion, a complete waste of money. Why do those clowns have to drive up and down the motorways in big gas-guzzling 4x4?
They say they need them for towing broken down vehicles and their vehicle's also need to be operated in all weathers, hence 4 wheel drive.
@@JackOfski Put some dolly wheels underneath the broken down vehicles wheels and even a reliant robin could move them

@@JackOfski in which case any decent 4 wheel drive would do? Why luxury Land Rover Discoverys?
It beggers belief, £2.6 million quid so poeple can decide to save upto 50p or not.

OMG. I nearly included this in the video. How the hell Frankley gets any cars fuelling there is a mystery 😂

2.6m£ better spent re-instating proper hard shoulders
I have a video coming on that!!!
it silly that they didnt finish it, this is something that i really love this feature on french roads. it makes so much sense
But the signage proves that the fuel stations colluded?

I had to laugh when passing these signs and I did a lot, They were nearly always exactly the same every time i passed. so what was the point,
@@steamhammer2k yes exactly mate. Unreal aren't they? 🤣
