This is a great tune and a sobering text. Although I enjoy the performance (and may purchase the album!), it seems a little up-beat for a solemn confession of sins.
Tune: A Supplement to the Kentucky Harmony, Harrisonburg, 1820 This was the melody the hymn was set to in our hymnal. Because it was, I had never researched to see what other melodies were out there, that is, until now. :) Thanks for sharing.
I love it ----it is a number one hit like a lot of church music I love the fresh way of it being played holy music can be solemn and or just great praise music the hymnal got some of the best I love the drums and the pan flute .WOW.
Yes, I would despise him for perversion of the hymn too. However, it is good to praise God for having this artist to use his given musical gift for the purpose of His glory and also to inspire many Christians to learn to forgive those who sin against them. As for myself, while I prefer hymns with simple tunes and instruments nowadays, I found out this rendition is awesome.
