I have a hard time believing this episode for a few reasons. 1) The boats look like they were sank and had to be brought to shore for the two teams that just "happen" to be behind. 2) Andy is literally on camera behind the competition and you can see the moment he decides to fake an "injury" which once Jeff has time to talk to him he only cares/talks about how he's going home or was hoping Jeff would have sent him home... then there's 3) where everyone on this tribe decides to keep him without any real footage of discussions or plans being made ( but they never show that anymore unless it's to miss lead the audeince). I mean a shield is one thing but is a shield a shield if everyone is using it.... oh and I forgot to mention the stock/ trail footage of the red team getting to the beach with perfectly crystal clear water behind them and the 3rd yellow chest just visible as the camera pans over the area. I've been calling bull for the last few years/seasons because one tribe ALWAYS loses every immunity challenge except one, maybe two in beginning of these 6 man tribes. This episode, ans Andy just seems like they are almost pointing at that fact....
Red was so far ahead maybe they did tell them to just come to shore.. it seemed like bad challenge design in the first place if the boats couldnt handle the players and the chests
new to this channel. I love survivor been watching it pretty much from the beginning. I have noticed since since the "new era" of survivor started we have had quite of few that just want to give up and quit. It never was like this before. i just wish they would do a better job picking contestants. We want to see people that want to play that realize they are special and i believe they are special they just want not try. CBS plz pick strong candidates for one of the best shows on tv. Welcome back! Somehow I feel like when you play Survivor and you’re assigned to a yellow tribe, you need to scramble off the bat. Also, Andy. No no no. He’s painful to watch.
Welcome back to you! Personally I would want to be on a yellow tribe because I think the colors with the outfits and the buffs are the best combo. I would have to be on a green tribe even though Green is my favorite color
@@RealityArtPod that I agree with! I also wanna be on a Green tribe or Purple! Or that teal/turquoise tribe from Second Chances. I don’t think they ever had a pink tribe but that would be rare and amazing!
@@cjdlaron the merge tribe last season, the color on wiki is more red, but on TV it looked pretty close to pink or magenta. My favorite buff is actually black, like the winners at war buff is one of the ones I own I think its awesome
Omg, dont even start with the Rachel business like you treated Kenzie last year about the Bhanu situation. Rachel owes Andy nothing. Leaving the camp with him in the middle of the night was more than he deserved. She's out there for herself like anybody should be. So please don't try it.
I fear that I did try it. I stand by it with Kenzie too and i still ended up liking Kenzie. It's actually very similar. I might end up a Rachel stan, right now her whole edit was her misunderstanding Andy and dismissing him.
How was Jon worse when Andy couldn’t complete the challenge?! I’ll admit I haven’t watched Survivor since Season 1 😅 and I’m a fan of Jon so I wanted him to play on
Think about it this way.. Jon might have gone on as a plant to promote his podcast during an election cycle, and he may not have actually wanted to win. He got to promote himself, and you get to watch a new show, and maybe some people will get out to vote who normally didnt.
Thanks for the summary. It was hard for me to understand how the vote turned out because of how overly positive Jon's edit was. Ig I wasn't paying much attention when Sam reconvened with the girls. At least the edit's matching his play style. I think the Rachel bashing was a bit much; I understand it of course, but her defense was sound given everyone woke up and saw them leaving. Really wish they talked about Andy's anxiety at camp like Kenzie and Ben did last season. Gabe & Rome are so messy rn it's hilarious. I have to imagine they use those idols at their first tribal with how suspicious they made themselves
I question Jon as an actual player because it's an election year so im like hmm did he even want to stay a long time or just promote himself and bounce.. I feel like especially after Kenzie, and I'm not sure if they saw Kenzie consoling ben at the time of this filming, but Rachel denying Andy support did feel very cold. Especially because he seemed to be REALLY going through it. I am not sure if they have mental health counselors out there, i know on big brother they do.. or at least they used to have a house therapist. I looked it up and they say that Survivor has a mental health person on site, but maybe they arent available at night? Either way if someone is coming to you for support and youre rejecting them it's just not a good look. There is hope for her as a player and person but as far as the andy situation i do think she handled it wrong.
I mean, if she’d been more accommodating to him, isn’t there a fairly good chance he would’ve just called her out as the person he wanted to throw under the bus instead of Jon? That alliance isn’t advantageous to her. He’s too much of a liability to be seen making an alliance with, and Andy had at that point violated her explicitly stated boundaries.
@@rachels.8051 I'll be honest i dont have as strong an opinion about this as you do. I truly dont know anything about these people and had to judge it on one episode.
I feel very bad for Andy. It looks like he had some kind of psychotic meltdown on TV. I thought the doctors would take him off the show for psychological reasons. I hope his mental health improves.
I completely agree. I turned to my sister and was like "he really shouldnt be there" :/ i know they have on site mental health resources, but they seem to not be available around the clock (judging by how ben and andy both were going to other players for counseling during the night that if there were a professional there they would have taken care of it)
me too i miss the survivor of old it seemed to be a stronger caliber of people that they picked. i do feel for andy, i really do but this seems an every season thing now where one or even two people want to throw in the towel rather quickly. i love the show still but i miss the days of Boston Rob & Phillip Sheppard, russell hantz, richard hatch & others
@@CaptShriver I think now they just get a lot of applications from people who are like superfans but back in the day everyone watched survivor so you were more likely to get an application from like randos claiming they were fans of the show who were really just interesting people. Last year i was doing challenge recaps on friday and they werent getting views until survivor ended and i was able to make them on wednesday nights. Of course people want their recaps the next day. but hopefully it pays off.
I didn't like the episode. But I would think any first episode is bad in entertainment value. We need to learn who the players are and watch as they ignore what they said they would do in their pre-season interview which was probably a week ago in real time. Rome saying he wanted to be a social player to not socialize most of the time. I too think Jon was a lot like Andy. He said post-season that he felt the group definitely didn't relate to him and he felt he was the real target. Where as I don't think they really cared and thought they didn't want Andy to freak out more. But I understand why Jon would feel uneasy. Then Sam likely told the girls Jon's plans and it all sketched them out into voting for Jon. In the edit we saw, I don't remember him giving a real reason to vote out Anika. It's a shame, because Jon had to recognize the only way he wins is socially, as he didn't have any other Survivor skills really. I wished he managed it better rather than doing something stupid at the first sign of trouble.
It is hard to get a good handle on everyone in just one episode, but I think Andy is this season's version of Banu. He feels like the outcast in his group. But I knew immediately it was a mistake for him to announce that so publicly. Even someone on the other tribe made the "shhh" motion with her finger. I was also surprised that Jon got the first boot, but he may have let his paranoia get the better of him. I'm not a huge fan of the new idol box in a box in a box, but I appreciate that the producers are always trying something new. I also am curious if Rome or anyone else will do all the tasks to get the long-game idol. I really hope this is a good season, and I hope we get to see more of the other players' personalities come out.
Agreed! I said the same thing, he is the banu of the season. I think Andy had a bit of a mental break and I felt really bad for him. I hope he can shake it off, but based on the preview, it looks like there’s gonna be more drama for yellow next episode
I dont think Yellow will go back to tribal for a while.. I actually think they are a really strong team, and Rachel and Anika beasted that puzzle in the reward challenge... I think Andy can make it long enough to turn on them ;)
