The worst change is the fact the whole south LA area is shrunk down to basically just grove st and the streets around it. In san andreas half the los santos map was based on south & east LA. In gta 5 its damn near not existant. Which is wack to me.
I mean you cant really expect much it was ps3 game. Also I kinda agree they could make the city side a bit more bigger. They made the countryside too big.
@@contra7631 nawwl fam if a ps2 game could give me the whole hood plus the rest of LA plus the country...plus san fransisco and Vegas with an entire desert and a 2nd countryside that includes a whole mountain.....than a ps3 game should have been able to handle it ijs 🤣😔 (the amount of people misunderstanding what i said here in this response and telling me "you dont understand the tech" is driving me crazy. Rgink about it like civil duty...sweet is a community leader at the hesrt of it. The point was, sweet didn't want to see his neighborhood/ community become another drugged out zombies..like the rest of thr city, which is why he wanted to stay in the Grove...
I remember when gta 5 came out and when I played it for the first time the first thing I did was I went to grove street expecting the families to be posted up there, but then when I seen the ballas posted up on grove street I was like wtf 😂
Ona guys i think they like the ballas more nbs they get to the money be fresh and on gta online u can get ballas t shirts and polos and a knuckle buster but nothing for the families idk whats to em
My thoughts. CJ had all the other ventures. He left them behind. Sweet got shot by a balla and the rival gang took over the grove. With the members who didn’t want to drop their flags having an open position as a head you started seeming more sets show up (around 1999 after sweet was shot and CJ keeping up with the casino partnership and maddogg’s career.) thus you have families dealin and striving for dominance
@@X-Gaming2003 Man cj only helped sweet take back the grove gang at that time because HIS brother wanted him to, Cj was a REAL buster, he was raised different than sweet, he had more ideas and more life to complete, plus he already got his dream at the end, he had alot of money and even owned 50/50 of the most popular casino in las ventura
I think CJ left the gang life because he got older and realized gang isn’t worth it and left with his sister and I think Caesar left the gang life too and moved to San fierro. And CJ as you notice CJ owns his own toothpaste he probably left and began making new things and making new companies.
One time I got dialogue in the hood as Franklin a guy in a green helmet with a green shirt said yo you heard og Johnson bought the casino up near vinewood and the other guys said” yea yea yea”
What I think what happened: since the houses look different on grove street in GTA V than San Andreas, I think a neighborhood injunction probably happened on grove street somewhere in between the years of 1993-2004. For anyone who doesn’t know what a neighborhood injunction is, it’s a strategy used by the city/property owners to drive out any criminal activity in said neighborhood, SWAT Teams and ATF will come through and kick doors down strip search people/homes and put red tags on doors aka “VACATE THE PREMISES” notices, after grove street was abandoned they tore majority of the houses down and built new ones over, the same thing happened in a neighborhood that I live in right now, at some point in 2004-2010 the Ballas must have moved in after the injunction and claimed the territory, makes sense on why CJ’s Mom’s house isn’t there anymore.
Don't forget the fact that 3D and HD universe are completely different in some aspects. Usually events that happen prior and after the game do go across the universes (example of that being the pollution leak of 1988 and an oil tanker accident that happened somewhere around 2001, which causes water around LC to look oily and in the beginning, dangerous to swim in, which can later be observed in HD universe, where the water still looks really polluted and oily). However, events that happen directly through gameplay usually do not go across the universes. If Grove Street indeed did take over the entire LS, there would never be competition anymore. In HD universe, CJ most likely doesn't even exist, and even if he does, he would probably have a very minor influence, existing only as a, say, a face for advertisement or name on a book, or something like that. So we can also assume that in upcoming GTA 6, Tommy Vercetti and his big operation would have never happened, but that doesn't mean Vice City doesn't have problems with sharks and hurricanes, so bridges being closed at some point, and you needing to find alternative ways might very well be a thing.
Dude you are so wrong.Hd are 3D are connected. They mention about grove street gang. And also you have ballas and etc. other gangs from gta sa.So why they would add those gangs if they never existed in the first place and also mention the old gang. Its just we dont know what happened to them. But I am sure Cj is there somewhere else with his families. He just moved on at some point and it makes sense.
@@contra7631do a google search before making things up 3D and HD are not connected grove street may exist in both gta but there’s no cj sweet ryder nor big smoke in HD universe even tommy in upcoming gta 6 your clearly clueless.
Or... Grove Street basically grew out of gang life. With CJ, and his multiple businesses, they probably left their turf. And a power vacuum was created in which the Ballast quickly filled. Thoughts?
@@LScentralif you grow up in da hood, you dont wanna stay there if you can. sometimes moving down the street better, even if it's just a block over. they still a part of gang culture but they leveled up alil.
The real reason why Grove Street Families lost their turf to the Ballas was because they tore down the Ganton Courts housing projects. Just like in LA, many gangs that control housing projects majority members live or hang out in the projects then in the actual surrounding hood. With GSF you mostly had 2 clicks the PJs and the Grove Street click. I can tell most members lived in the projects. Fast forward 2013 from Ganton to Davis those projects are gone. The only active GSF were the ones on Grove Street. It make sense the Ballas kept dropping the last remaining members til they finally took over Grove Street. Just to let you know ain't no way in hell CJ took over the whole city, this ain't no corny Saints Row. If it was like that there wouldn't be any Ballas and Vagos in 2013. In GTA SA the only way to play the last mission of the game you only need to take a certain percent back. I still don't understand how Rockstar only added 1 housing project in GTA V. In GTA SA they had 7 housing projects.
That’s some interesting history. There was a forum that tracked Chicago gang member’s social medias for funny drama, and it’s crazy how quickly they died and were replaced. If you’re actively pushing, and not treating it like the Boy Scouts. I don’t think anyone survives with their freedom.

I reckon CJ's still going as a businessman working with Woozy, Madd Dogg, Cesar & Kendl. You can tell his mind was made up about leaving the hood behind when he picked Sweet up from prison. He tried to get Sweet to come along with it, but Sweet was having none of it so he tried to rebuild the hood to try and win Sweet over. After the end of the story, with all his enemies out of the picture, CJ decided he wanted a fresh start and to take full advantage of the business connections he'd made. You can tell at the end when he says he's going to take a walk around the block. He likely decided during that walk, he wanted to put him and his business interests above the hood and being a gangbanger. He'd have likely moved away and out of Grove Street if not LS entirely. Over time, Sweet would have likely gotten more annoyed that CJ was putting his business interests above that of the hood as well as constantly being away from it. He'd also likely still be mad at Kendl for going out with someone who wasn't from Grove St gang. CJ & Kendl would have likely made numerous attempts to get Sweet on board but Sweet would have refused as he's incapable of seeing that there's more to the world than Grove Street and the gang. This would eventually lead to CJ & Kendl cutting ties with Sweet or at the very least distancing themselves from him so they don't get drawn in to the gang violence again. Judging by the fact that Grove Street is Ballas controlled by 2013, Sweet is either dead or incarcerated due to being unable to see a life beyond being a gangbanger. So the gang would have had no leadership which would have meant the remaining homies would have fled, died or moved over to the Ballas. CJ would have no interest in intervening at this point as he no longer wants to risk his life when he has better options with his business connections & no real ties to Grove St anymore. All the others will have all just moved on with their lives, capitalising on the business connections made in the SA story.
@Theaggressivesalad This makes a lot of sense and is canon for me from now on. In GTA V it is also noticeable that, even if the Ballas and Vagos are more "predominant" in the LS scenario, their actual presence in the town is pretty scarce. This element could very well fit in with the theory that, around the 2000's, most of the gang members and leaders were arrested by the police (probably Sweet was one of them), that's why you find gang members in fewer locations than you did in SA.
Makes perfect sense. That's why I hate Sweet. He gives CJ alot of flak even when he did alot to get him out of prison and kept Kendl safe the whole time while also managing a lot of businesses. Sweet is too narrow minded and annoying
@@srinathparimi33 that's why I hate Sweet the most out of all the main characters. Carl's done so much for him to set him up and get him out of prison and he just throws it straight back in his face when he gets picked up from jail!
When Lamar and Franklin talk about the OG Grove Street they say their probably dead or becoming CEO, i like to think that Sweet indeed is dead defending Grove Street from the Ballas which has regain power from underground drug trafficking across Los Santos while CJ still living as multibillionaire CEO managing music label, fashion brand (billboard in GTA IV), lifestyle brand (like the CJ's Toothpaste) and his other business, probably living in Las Venturas, Vinewood or Liberty City. Other Families member either betray Sweet and joining Ballas when they take control, died defending Grove Street with Sweet, or survive the gang war and try to rebuild The Families forming sets like CGF, CAF, and DNF
Many characters of GTA canon exist in both the 3D and HD universes so it's logical that there is a version of CJ somewhere and they heavily imply the events of San Andreas occurred with references to the 90s. CJ made it big at the end of SA and so he likely convinced Sweet to leave that life behind and go legit. They left GSF to those who didn't have the same vision and so the gang declined over time. Kendl likely moved to San Fierro with Cesar and he left the Aztecas behind.
@@OlliWitta3_well by the end of SA, CJ owns multiple businesses including the San Fierro chop shop and having 1/3 of share in the Dragons casino, also he's Madd Dogg's manager.
@@RandomGuy-qc8ml yup I'ma firm believer that the universes are all cohesive. Rockstar may have just been trolling when they said they weren't connected. Literally every game connects. Even how Michael talks about Niko in one mission. And Johnny literally is in the game lol.
GSF ogs died out. CJ couldn’t care less about gang bangin, and that’s is crystal clear in SA ending. He had better things going on. Sweet probably ended up like Emmet did, at least in terms of mentality. He was a solo survivor and stood for something that wasn’t there anymore. If you look carefully, Emmet is the perfect parallel to Sweet. He was an old school Families member in a hood that wasn’t anymore Orange Families for a very long time. But Sweet had CJ and probably was taken along by his brother lifestyle in the end. GSF new generation of gangsters had no links to the families at all. These younger guys probably tried to emulate CJ rags to riches by dealing dope and somehow that ended with a Ballas set in Grove Street.
@@Otto500206 i know it doesn’t but there are parallels. During a conversation with Franklin, Lamar says the original leaders of GS families got rich and left the scene. Besides the separation between HD and 3D universe its not that strict since some 3D characters actually exist in HD.
I think that sweet got killed and CJ Kendal and Cesar move out of the hood if you remember, CJ didn’t want anything to do with the gang life anymore, sweet was probably killed
I like to think all the events in the 3D universe took place in the HD as well, the only difference really being the names of certain things. Onto my actual theory for the fall of the Grove Street Families. Some time after the events of GTA SA, CJ and Sweet both started to have more responsibility. The Ballas perform a drive by on Sweets house injuring him, infront of his kids. CJ would visit Sweet at the hospital only to see Sweet's Girlfriend and Children both looked distraught with tears in their eyes. CJ would ask them step out of the room so he could be with his brother he would say "Sweet, I understand you said you would die in the hood, but you got kids now do you really want this kind of life for them?" Sweet would reply "I don't know anymore, I want to see my kids grow but if I continue on like this, it ain't gonna happen. But it goes against my principle." CJ would interject "What happened to your principle against Drugs man, the whole neighborhood is full of baseheads, if we keep this up where are our kids gonna be if this is the environment they grow up in?" Sweet replied "I know, but this is our home man, it always will be so I don't want to give it up" CJ then said "Man, look your kids deserve better they could have better. Live a quiet life its time we hang this gangbangin shit up" Sweet would reply "CJ you're right, where will we go though?" CJ said "Somewhere we ain't gonna be walking around with a target on our backs, maybe move east get out of San Andreas or move out into the country outside of San Fiero so we'll be close to our sister." I think at some point CJ was able to convince Sweet to give up the gang life, without much leadership the Families would split up into new sets, forming the sets we know in GTA 5, the other gangs who were weaker would have reformed and like vultures start pecking at the remains of the Grove Street Claims in Los Santos. Sweet and CJ would have moved, Maybe into a gated community as they could afford it with CJ having several Legit businesses in the State of San Andreas and a stake in a Casino.
If we think about the fact that this whole gang story about gsf vs ballas is based on the crips vs bloods i think it went something like this, after cj takes over LS, cj becomes a celebrity and a bilionaire once some years passes and the 2000s came, most of the OG's moved out of the sets and most of them went to vinewood or better areas in LS, at this point grove street got abbandoned by the gsf and the remaining ballas took over the turf, to the other hand the remaining grove street families (and all them other sets) once their leader (sweet) was gone re established the families and took a new turf, i believe this because Gerald didn't wanted a war between the ballas and the feds, there's a reason why the feds doesn't want that the families and the ballas goes to war again, they don't want this to be repeated again as it did in 1992 in gta san andreas
Disappointing the house isn't even there and enterable. Is the street even Grove Street? It's like Rockstar hate the old games and characters that made them.
The drugs were probably the biggest reasons the families lost to the ballas a lot of the families probably realized drug dealing was where the money was at
CJ takes over los santos, gets into the most dangerous military area and steals their top secrets, robs banks, becomes a trillionaire, fights an army alone, and people call him a coward. Sweet has never helped him, only kept failing his missions.
I think the reason why there isn't any gang wars in gta 5 is because of lore reasons and not lazy programming. Since it was mentioned before in the early missions involving Franklin and lamar (the mission where they kidnap some baller) it was stated that they didn't have beef with families Stretch after the giant shootout in the warehouse even said that they could be at risk of an entire gang war because of Franklin's and Lamar's failed kidnapping and the shootout they just got out of
I always thought it was mainly because CJ was trying to get out of the hood which was why he got into the casino business and when Sweet got out of prison CJ basically abandoned the Hoods and wanted to take Sweet back to his mansion but sweet didn’t want to leave the Hood and wanted to be taken back to grove street.
They do but we still know the gang was pushed out of grove St. And seeing how stretch acts and treats Lamar and Franklin it's not too hard to figure. The gang broke up from not being able to get many younger members due to hierarchical nature the older members enforced. Forcing cuts from every deal to everyone in a higher position in the gang, no wonder the gang lost so many members. Example being stretch demanding Franklin pay him his cuts on deals Franklin did independently.

I heard its because of the hidden spindlelint script that everyone has seen yet only few know about. It's truly a genius thing they did over at Rockstar adding that it leads you to the Goblet of Queefing.
I know they use the whole different universe thing to kinda erase the past. But I still like to think alot are still connected. In GTA SA when the LS riots are going you have to take a certain amount of territory so I try to recreate the GTA 5 hoods the best I can. Everything south and west of the train tracks goes to the families which sets up the GTA 5 lines pretty well. And all this happened because CJ was loyal to his brother but after big smokes betrayal CJ wanted nothing to do with the hood life because he made a life outside of the hood which he struggled to do for his whole life. So after tenpenny death CJ continued his life. He would still be there for his brother but because money an power is key to the gang life sweets days as a leader we're always going to be numbered. So he ether got killed or arrested. And with both gangs being decimated from the bloodshed of GTA SA I can't imagine whole lot of territory has changed since then besides Grove Street which lost it leader. I think every hood has there own group of leader the build up all the gangs in the city. The ones that refuse to change got weakened like Grove Street while the rest adapted and survived like the rest of the family in GTA 5 and with the death of tenpenny the corruption that allowed the gangs to run the way they did was eliminated so any gang wars quickly attracted the heat of the LSPD so gang war became bad for business so most of the gangs stop fighting an just managed there own territory focused on money then killing. In my playthrough it don't make much sense for the families to attack the vargos because there immediate relations on mostly Netrual sweet I don't think even recognize the vargos in GTA SA so I leave the Vargos alone an just focus on the ballas when the story make sense for it to take territory. But with out CJ and sweet the days of keeping the good clean was only going last so long. But that how I play San Andreas an shape it to lead up to GTAV.
In the start of GTA Online LSV is the largest gang. They control Rancho, Cypress Flats, El Burro Heights, Vespucci Beach, and an airport in Grapeseed. It make sense what you said not taking over there territory in GTA SA.
The Families, The Aztecas, The Vagos, and The Ballas got too old to fight each other. Many of them died or got jailed. After CJ drive out the Vagos and Ballas, the two remaining gangs just broke up after recruiting dried up and “the kids” grew up and got too old for gang life.
This video would be true if not for the rest of Gta san andreas. CJ went from coward to OG. He cleaned Grove ST, had a lot of support, and took over LS by the end. Rockstar just went lazy on gang lore.
"The rest of San Andreas" doesn't happen in the HD games, they're explicitly an alternate universe. The closest we get is that GTA3 is a movie in the HD universe, and Niko can see a trailer for it on TV in GTA4.
Read somewhere that Tony Cipriani killed CJ, following orders from Salvatore Leone, and Sweet tried to maintain the family for a while but eventually died or retired, since he had the money, while Kendl and Cesar moved to San Fierro in definitive after the car business took off. The families separated by regions and the Ballas, as a power move, decided to dominate the Groove Street as a matter of honor.
Basically Rockstar was lazy didn't want to have to remake all of GTA SA and basically sat us down and was like son have I ever told you about alternate reality theory
at the end of the line, CJ said ''we gotta stay on top of our game'' which can have double meanings, either he meant that for grove street, which is unlikely, or he meant for his assets that he built up until the end, things such as the garage in doherty, zero's RC shop, stake in woozie's casino, and other stuff from the gta that was completed in 100% regarding grove street, i think sweet got whacked somewhere between 1992-2013, and there was nothing that could keep CJ in grove street anymore, so kendl convinced cj to leave the hood just like how she convinced him to ''let that grove for life bs go'' while she was with cj in san fierro, but as soon as sweet had returned, cj was immediatly dragged back into hood. CJ said in the beginning intro to joey that his brother (sweet) used to make his life miserable, meaning that sweet did everything in his power to make CJ into a gangster and keep him pinned in the hood, so it wont surprise anyone that CJ would abandon grove street at first opportunity. judging by the pre 1992 events in san andreas, the only thing that made CJ stay is his deceased little brother, brian johnson, once he was gone. in his mind there was nothing left in the hood, so he ran away, because brian and carl look very alike, and were really close together, so naturally when you lose someone very close to you, it hits the hardest. i dont think CJ was close to sweet at all judging how CJ said that sweet made his life miserable, and judging by the storyline missions, sweet always gives CJ a hard time about everything, and always blames him for everything. imagine how different the game would be if CJ wasnt blamed by sweet, or if brian didnt get whacked. grove street could very well still be under GSF
Simple, 1. Different Universe 2. GSF in 3D also different with GSF in HD. 3D still there but in HD like Franklin said, It's legendary set but already defeated or whatever. 3. With this logic, character, Vehicles and Map from 2D universe must appear and used for 3d Universe.
Different Universe = Rockstar lie. You must be believing that Rockstar games are saints and never lie. GSF in 3D is still the same here. Map off the three cities in GTA 1 is basically a smaller image of their 3D appearance. And as for vehicles, many 3D era vehicles have influenced from GTA 1 and 2. Speaking for characters, not a single character from GTA 1 appears in GTA 2, even though they are said to be in the same timeline. The Hare Krishna from GTA 1 do appear in GTA 2, but in GTA 3, the Zaibatsu Corporation from GTA 2 are mentioned. This universes thing didn't exist when GTA 3 came out. It came out in 2008 at the time of GTA 4, only to be proven as an excuse two years later.

As for 2D and 3D being same, well, it was actually the same before GTA 4, it's not that they created GTA 3 and randomly thought of different universes, they really kept 2D and 3D GTAs connected initially, and it is also possible that they changed their mind about the universes thing later on, but they won't publically say it, else people will demand characters like Tommy and CJ to return, and their conflict with VAs is the biggest reason why they invented the universes thing in the first place, and that too, as an excuse.

There are dialogues in a mission in which franklin and lamar talks about og leaders of the families became CEO's and left the hoods, maybe implying to CJ as he always wanted to leave gangsta life and obviously owned casino, car dealership and an abandoned airstrip

For Los Santos, those mountains and deserts can be treated as non canon as even Rockstar games don't touch that landmass that much. And can you please tell me any mention to events of GTA 1 and 2 in 3 and LCS, I'm aware of the mention of Zaibatsu Corporation but anything else?
That's what people keep forgetting about the og San Andreas...that's why I tell people it's not the same location...the alley next to cj house led to the street you're talking about...on this game it's a river😂
Some answer with the multiverse theory to these videos, but it seems to me that the "universes" that Rockstar mentioned serves more as a distinction of the technology they developed the games in, as well as to catalogue the era said games were part of instead of a literal explanation of alternate dimensions. It just doesn´t hold up considering all the references and arcs that serve as continuation from the 3D games (Like Laslow & Candy Suxx, Grove Street and so on), and any and all plotholes can essentially be resumed as this: the events of the past games happened, just in the newest iteration of these cities instead of the oldest maps, like say GTA 4 Liberty City supercedes GTA 3´s. Btw, this universe things doesnt seem consistent as fans believe, because there exists Liberty Tree Articles/radio convos in GTA 3 and LCS that references the events of GTA 1 & 2, which is something not many consider or even are aware of. That´s why me and many other don´t buy into this explanation that might as well be misinterpreted by fans.
It's bcoz GTA 5 is in HD universe and it has nothing to do with GTA SA coz it's in 3D universe and that means whatever happened in GTA SA may have not happen in HD universe and if it did, it may have happened differently (like parallel universe or some sh!t)
There should have been a CJ focused DLC after the main GTA 5 storyline to where he returned to LS(been over a decade) for an awards benefit(as he has become a big success as a media mogul and entrepreneur) but the benefit is attacked by Ballas and Vagos. Franklin and Lamar end up meeting CJ during the ordeal, helping him take out his enemies, expose the conspiracy against him and possibly, take back Grove street.
I've always believed that the events of the old GTA games are canon in the new timeline, but the old games were an exaggeration of what really happened. Probably, CJ left Los Santos, and while he was gone Sweet got popped and all of the surviving Ballas did an attack on Grove Street.
@@sodaroni_enthusiast even then only some of them do, so far only Madd Dogg and OG Loc seem to still exist even if Loc himself was retconned to have a different fate by that logic

One day I was goofing around in Los Santos in GTA SA, I parked my car for awhile then suddenly the Long Sleeve wearing Gang member of GS said this "Man, I want a real job". I was shocked and it made me think that that's gotta be one of the reasons why Ballas took over the GS territory.
My humble opinion, they should come out with San Andreas stories. Obviously young maylay isn’t coming back. So mike Toreno has Cj killed to tie up loose ends in the beginning of the game. Two main characters: a member of grove street and a member of the ballas. They knew each other as kids but went they’re separate ways obviously. Sweet dies in a ambush by the ballas. You get two point of views as member of the families and a member of the ballas. It could show the internal struggle within the families after their leaders are murder and their struggle to maintain power. On the ballas side it could show how they regrouped, became strong again and took over grove street. Every gang seems to be an enemy of the families in the HD version so it could how they regained their turf.
They definitely needed to show us the other points of view alota empty holes in san andreas story also they couldve started out the game with us killing brian as a balla so we can finally see how it happened…i sholl thought a san andreas stories was nxt cus the order they was droppin but den we got gta 4 which i barely played😭 only played and beat the Mexican dude fr i jus didnt like niko after playin as CJ
@@dannyd9077 they could still do something. Young maylay is also holding a grudge but if they work something out we could maybe get that game. San Andreas will always live on as one of the greatest games ever made. Even though gangs are getting played out, the game was built around the history in la in the early 90s. So they could do dlc to San Andreas in the early 80s. Imo
The 3D and HD universe are separate so we can't know if CJ, Sweet or anybody from GTA SA existed in GTA V. We basically know nothing that happens in the future of the 3D universe and nothing about the past of the HD universe. My personal theory about GTA SA after the end is that Grove Street wasn't much of a gang anymore because they had no reason to do much gang related activities. After all by the end of GTA SA, CJ was a millionaire owning stakes in a casino, being a music producer, and a lot of other businesses. He basically set them for life.
if cj saw his brother die and already feels guilty, blaming him the second he got back was a clear indication of why he ran away, cj didn’t need to hear all that shit when he was in pain too…
I know Rockstar refers to it as an alternative universe, but I like to think that GTA 4 and GTA 5 is just a different set of characters from GT3 era and it's done so their story is not dragged out for too long. I do wonder if GTA6 will connect with 4 and 5 or start fresh again.
@@extremeboss5282so they cleared a street behind cj house and made a river?...cmon bruh it's not the same universe..and it wasn't just a bridge that was a overpass you not knocking that shit down
CJ and all the characters from San Andreas do not exist in the HD universe. However, it is possible for **incarnations** of these characters to exist, in fact, we have seen several characters that have appeared throughout both universe, notably, Lazlow, Madd Dogg, and OG Loc. But as it stands, nothing really indicates their existence, even through the dialogue mentioning GSF within the gang. The OGs from the GSF that were rumored to went on to become CEOs did not indicate them CJ, Sweet, etc. According to Dan Houser in the GTA IV Interview, all the protagonists from the 3D era are all mythical in the HD universe. And would contradict with the characters established in San Andreas. Furthermore, Grove Street Families in the HD Universe isn't the same as the one in the 3D Universe. For one, in the HD universe, the GSF was just a set of a bigger gang, "The Families." Where as in the 3D Universe, the GSF was a full, standalone gang with the only sets they had being Temple Drive and Seville Boulevard families all of which were absorbed back into GSF after Reuniting the Families. That is another major difference to note that not many here seem to be aware of.
Given how R* treated the Lost in V, it's probably for the best they didn't touch the 3D Universe at all. Imagine the outrage if Trevor had killed CJ in a cutscene a la the Lost...Now my whole idea is based on R*'s idea that it's seperate canons/universes, so hear me out. To me I like to think CJ moved on with his life, he likely ran away from his problems again, it makes sense to me he'd go back to LC and want to get away from all of his issues. Which leaves the door open for the GSF to fracture and rival sets to vie for power and more importantly, money. Sure, Smoke is dead, Ballas are dead, but GSF also has a giant, giant target for that, Ballas are likely going to be pissed at GSF massacring them, and want to get even with them. So you have a fracturing gamg (remember the different sets from SA?) and everyone who CJ wronged or hurt or killed. That's a hell of a lot of people with a lot of power. I don't think the Ballas took over Grove Street as easily as people think. I think the LSPD got quite a few of them. In RL, CRASH carried on past 1992 or several years after all, even now the LAPD has issues with corruption. For all we know there are other Tenpenny like cops out there and to me it makes sense with how the LSPD is portrayed, that someone else filled the spot Tenpenny's death left, and blamed GSF or that, then set about being hell bent on eradicating GSF, and the Ballas were wanting to eradicate the GSF as well but don't match up to what is, in the game at least, a gang with a badge and a blatant disregard for the law. LSPD can move in and take out gang members and keep them off the streets. Ballas can't. Then you got the other factions all wanting a piece of GSF too. To me, I feel like over a number of years, the LSPD chippe away at or outright killed, the GSF members and weakened them, and the Ballas siezed the moment to take Grove Street. In addition, I think the drugs were a huge factor. Even if the ballas didn't want to directly assault Grove Street/GSF they had the means and the money, even without Smoke, to push a shitload of drugs into Grove Street, weakening the GSF by making them into adicts an unable to fight back
First of all Rockstar fucked up bad by trying to separate the universe. If it was like that why bring up and mention Grove Street Families in the first place. My problem is how folks try to act like if GSF is a powerful gang. Let's get this right without CJ the Families would have crumble. Let's look at the missing section in Davis they didn't add the housing projects from Ganton. If you look at how Ganton look you can tell the GSF had the most members living in the Ganton Courts projects. Fast forward 2013 there's no projects in Davis. You really think the GSF would stand a chance to survive only controlling 1 street. You might think I'm tripping but this is the type of shit that happened all over LA. Many gangs that control housing projects are usually notorious and have a strong presence with many foot soldiers compare to gangs that have a regular hood with regular homes. In LA many housing projects got torn down like Dana Strand, Normont Terrace, Aliso Village, Pico Gardens and now the Jordan Downs. There's a couple gangs that lost influence once the projects got dropped. That is a major example of what most likely happened to the Grove Street Families. Once CJ and Sweet moved on the GSF lost influence. Members turning on each other. Now you have new sets like CGF, CAF, DNHF and FDF. Now when you look at Seville Blvd they are a lost coz. There territory was only the projects , which remind me of some gang in the border of Compton and LA call the Village Town Pirus where there hood was one tiny projects and got torn down. After that you hardly even heard of them.
One thing they should've added in San Andreas for the Ballas was at least a few reoccurring characters as the leaders of the crew but Rockstar let that chance pass them by
CJ was a different man by the end of GTA: SA. CJ let the gang life go when he got his stake in the 4 Dragons Casino and became Madd Dogg's manager. CJ only got back involved because that's what Sweet wanted. CJ may've taken over Los Santos but he and Cesar left the gang life behind for good and Ballaz were still able to be seen in Grove turf even after that. Mike Toreno most likely helped the Ballaz and the Vagos get their turf back with help from the Rifas and even force the Groves out.
@@extremeboss5282 no, they did that since GTA 4, there was no "voice actor conflict" Also even if the purpose behind it was a lousy excuse to get to revise the GTA 3 map into something better, they follow their rule like gospel.
@@thedrbat9572 I know that they did this since GTA 4. And if you think there was no voice actor conflict, then you are an ignorant fool who needs to see the relation of VAs of Tommy, CJ and Niko with Rockstar Games after the release of GTA Vice City, San Andreas and IV respectively. Speaking about revising the GTA III map, they could have also said stuff like ‘Gang wars,GTA parody of 9/11 and an Earthquake changed the city’ but they found the universes thing as the laziest way to say whatever they want.
@DPJDW2024 Maybe others think like that but I don't think like ‘I'm a genius and I know everything’ like you said. If they wanted to recreate the map, they can give a much better explanation. Moreover, GTA 5's Los Santos to a great extent has always felt like GTA San Andreas' Los Santos to me (minus those huge mountains and deserts), GTA 6 map is giving me many Vice City vibes. GTA 4 might look like a different city than GTA 3 but they can also say that bloody gang wars, GTA counterpart to 9/11 and a deadly earthquake changed the city than just lazily saying ‘different universe'. You clearly didn't understand what I meant by voice actor conflict and how it became hard for them to bring back old characters.
A thing i feel is left out is the fact that in Gta 5 the ballas and the families arent rivals anymore, even if franklin faces them multiple times (like in Long Stretch, the drug deal gone wrong and saving Lamar) is more of the fact that lamar tried to kidnap a ballas The whole stretch betrayal is because of lamar's fault a war could broke out between both gangs, and stretch had to snitch on him with the ballas, making him a target (the why Lamar then goes and hands chop to Franklin) And this is also because the OGs in both families basically run a piramid scheeme, forcing the younger members to "pay respect" to the OGs, Franklin tried to stir away from that, creating a small independent group, the Family Feuds, altough it doesnt last that long
CJ and his sister kindle always wanted to give up the gang life but it was Sweet who everytime dragged CJ back into same as when Sweet was released from prison he insisted and forced CJ to go back to the hood when CJ had multiple businesses running, became mad-dog's manager and had a big house in hills. But still to prove his love to his brother, he went back to take territory back from ballas. Who wants to live in hood when you have a big mansion, an airstrip, car showroom, a casino running? He understood it was not worthwhile. Maybe they dissolved the gang after sweet died with gang members left to either work for other businesses or join rival gang ballas(which maybe most of them did due to which we see ballas in groove in gta 5)
I believe CJ left the the gang life and Sweet was forced by CJ to do the same or he was killed, so without CJ and Sweet, the GSF got weakened a lot, and they stopped existing in the late 90s, and DNF are a continuation of GSF imo
the reason is the ballas toke over grove street because Cj toke over another hood and all grove street families move to the other hood and the Ballas finded out they haved left grove street and then they toke over Grove street thats why
Cjs running a casino, managing Maddogs career and a part time CIA operative. And swimming in cash. He won't waste no time being a lowlife Grove street gangsta.
Rockstar already confirmed its different universe's in gta so technically CJ doesn't exist in gta 5 so the ballers probably owned that territory forever
Not true at all. In fact, in GTA 5, when Jimmy De Santa asks about the Grove Street Families, Franklin claims they did own the territory back in the 90's with OG Family gangsters. Also in a Franklin and Lamar conversation, they even confirm the Grove Street Families and possibly them leaving the gang life behind.
You know what’s strange? I don’t remember nothing except of that crazy ahh Trevor from GTA 5. GTA SA on the other hand had a lot of cool moments and was way more remarkable for me. I played the game a few days ago and I still remember a lot of the missions… also buying houses was such a cool feature! I hope GTA 6 will bring that feature back man…
It’s actually rather simple, at the end of the game in GTA San Andreas, it brings back turf wars and the Ballas are in control of Grove Street because CJ has been MIA the whole time. You can optionally take it back, but this is not canon, in canon he stuck to his businesses elsewhere like the casino in Las Venturas, so the Ballas have retained control of Grove Street all this time.
Yes, GTA 5 is my favorite in the series, no matter how much the boomers love GTA 4. However, maybe I was too young, but GTA SA hits different. I have heard this from other players as well, when they took away CJ from Los Santos to "some county", we were genuinely missing the characters and city back in Los Santos, I wish I could just reply and have the same feeling again.
I’m just gonna say this: I’ll always believe gta Iv and v (HD Universe) is really a completely different universe from the 3D games. I thought back then it just meant “era”, but it really means a different universe meaning a completely different world. It may have had similar or the same exact events that may have occurred in the past and ofc grove street families still existed. Unsure if anyone finds this logical tho. There’s no way that the layout of a part of a state or even an entire city changes that much in 20 years that everything is almost unrecognizable and the street names being different. That screams “this is not the same world”
You will always believe that Rockstar Games are saints and never lie. If they said that the Earth is flat, you will believe it just because Rockstar Games said so. I'm not labelling them as liars, but come on, they are game developers, not the type of people who have sworn never to lie to even their wife.
Love the original design of Grove Street and surrounding areas. Wish they kept it the same as it doesn't make sense how it could have changed so much. Plus, it would have brought back all the great memories, give a sense of familiarity and it should have actually looked like Grove Street tbh. But then again they said the hd universe and 3d universe are seperate so... 🤷♂️
The worst change is the fact the whole south LA area is shrunk down to basically just grove st and the streets around it. In san andreas half the los santos map was based on south & east LA. In gta 5 its damn near not existant. Which is wack to me.

Usually events that happen prior and after the game do go across the universes
(example of that being the pollution leak of 1988 and an oil tanker accident that happened somewhere around 2001, which causes water around LC to look oily and in the beginning, dangerous to swim in, which can later be observed in HD universe, where the water still looks really polluted and oily).

He was an old school Families member in a hood that wasn’t anymore Orange Families for a very long time. But Sweet had CJ and probably was taken along by his brother lifestyle in the end.

Live a quiet life its time we hang this gangbangin shit up" Sweet would reply "CJ you're right, where will we go though?" CJ said "Somewhere we ain't gonna be walking around with a target on our backs, maybe move east get out of San Andreas or move out into the country outside of San Fiero so we'll be close to our sister."
I think at some point CJ was able to convince Sweet to give up the gang life, without much leadership the Families would split up into new sets, forming the sets we know in GTA 5, the other gangs who were weaker would have reformed and like vultures start pecking at the remains of the Grove Street Claims in Los Santos.

When playing as franklin on gta v if you get on bleeter I believe you'll see a Ballsac member saying "thanks for giving up GS"

CJ was definitely not a coward he probably just knew there was no future in it💯
The drugs were probably the biggest reasons the families lost to the ballas a lot of the families probably realized drug dealing was where the money was at
CJ and Sweet is a lot like Franklin and Lamar. One guy wants to grow beyond the ganglife, and the other only knows ganglife.
Since it was mentioned before in the early missions involving Franklin and lamar (the mission where they kidnap some baller) it was stated that they didn't have beef with families
Stretch after the giant shootout in the warehouse even said that they could be at risk of an entire gang war because of Franklin's and Lamar's failed kidnapping and the shootout they just got out of
"lore reasons" is just another phrasing for lazy and simplified development.
I am pretty sure rockstar has gone on record saying the hi-def games take place in a different universal canon

Taking over all territories is necessary because of constant hood attack annoyance.

But grove street will live forever, grove street 4 life, families 4 life 🤘
at the end of the line, CJ said ''we gotta stay on top of our game'' which can have double meanings, either he meant that for grove street, which is unlikely, or he meant for his assets that he built up until the end, things such as the garage in doherty, zero's RC shop, stake in woozie's casino, and other stuff from the gta that was completed in 100%
regarding grove street, i think sweet got whacked somewhere between 1992-2013, and there was nothing that could keep CJ in grove street anymore, so kendl convinced cj to leave the hood just like how she convinced him to ''let that grove for life bs go'' while she was with cj in san fierro, but as soon as sweet had returned, cj was immediatly dragged back into hood.
Simple,
1. Different Universe
One thing they should've added in San Andreas for the Ballas was at least a few reoccurring characters as the leaders of the crew but Rockstar let that chance pass them by
Rockstar ia full of shit for not lettin us know what the fuck happened
Because nothing happened; they’re in different universes

We need "GTA V Online: Los Santos Stories" for this Grove Street mystery
CJ was a different man by the end of GTA: SA. CJ let the gang life go when he got his stake in the 4 Dragons Casino and became Madd Dogg's manager. CJ only got back involved because that's what Sweet wanted. CJ may've taken over Los Santos but he and Cesar left the gang life behind for good and Ballaz were still able to be seen in Grove turf even after that. Mike Toreno most likely helped the Ballaz and the Vagos get their turf back with help from the Rifas and even force the Groves out.
3:15 you made me imagine these bricky ass characters bending backwards towards the sky everytime they saw ballas lol
Grove Street is different because they are in 2 different universes
Finally someone understands
The universes thing is a Rockstar lie, they do this because of voice actor conflict, don't think they are saints and never lie to anyone
A thing i feel is left out is the fact that in Gta 5 the ballas and the families arent rivals anymore, even if franklin faces them multiple times (like in Long Stretch, the drug deal gone wrong and saving Lamar) is more of the fact that lamar tried to kidnap a ballas
The whole stretch betrayal is because of lamar's fault a war could broke out between both gangs, and stretch had to snitch on him with the ballas, making him a target (the why Lamar then goes and hands chop to Franklin)
And this is also because the OGs in both families basically run a piramid scheeme, forcing the younger members to "pay respect" to the OGs, Franklin tried to stir away from that, creating a small independent group, the Family Feuds, altough it doesnt last that long
I'm going guess Salvatore got back at Grove Street as revenge for cj robbing the Caligula
The fact that CJ says "Balla's do own families" is like a foreshadow
Derogatory terms for the ballas.
BK, RHBK, FYK, TDBK, KTBK, Ball sacks, Ball Pushers, Ball-Less Ball Suckers. 😂
"YOU'VE PICKED THE WRONG STREET FOOLS"
-Big Smoke
the reason is the ballas toke over grove street because Cj toke over another hood and all grove street families move to the other hood and the Ballas finded out they haved left grove street and then they toke over Grove street thats why
Bro no lol
I hope GTA 6 will bring that feature back man…
It’s not the same universe
Jack from Eastenders is Claude , that’s mad, then the video talks about crooked cops, which jack plays in Eastenders, spooky lol
They should of made CJ related to Franklin
should *HAVE, not "of"...
GTA 5 was trash
As a kid I enjoyed it but now at 27 . Ima like wtf😂😂 online mode better than the story
Ayoooo... woah woah woah. Lets not get outta hand
Gta 5 have better features
San Andreas
🤓🤓
Its simple. Bcoz of this universe isnt tied to 3D universe which is VC,SA and 3.
Story in gta sa and gta 5 are likely the same
I'd like to think the same events happened even though they're still in different universes
taking over groove is one thing
but hood looks nothing like it used to
houses are gone completely
