Driven both. Don't let the noise fool you, the Scania is the smoother of the 2 to drive, and the steering/wheel feel so much nicer in the hand, as do the other controls. Nothing wrong with the Volvo but the Scania is far nicer.
Our local Stagecoach depot in South West Scotland used to operate the Edinburgh services 101/102 and it was 5 Scanias they used on that route, but I remember the driver one evening when we had stopped in at Biggar for the usual 10 minutes chatting to another driver and his criticism of the Scania was that it struggled on the incline (steep hills) and certainly from the point of view of the passenger I always noticed that compared to a Volvo.
Are you a coach driver? Coz after 5 years on local buses I’m gonna start my coach driving career in ten days so I have some questions not to screw myself on day one with my mentor.
If I were to compare the Scania v Volvo in a musical sense, I would call the Volvo Queen, whereas the Scania would be say Bon Jovi. The Volvo has a very majestic feel to it, everything about says quality, high standards. You get the distinct impression that the people at Volvo are very intelligent and know exactly what it is that they are doing and they do it very, very well.
Interesting comparison. What creates that 'loose' noise from the front - it's noticeable on many new buses and coaches? For the odd reason that I found early Volvo B58's similar sounding to Bedfords - ie: a bit rough! - I have to prefer the Scania, especially with it's soothing' transmission whine. Salvador Caetano have certainly come on since their early 'garish' designs imported into the UK in the 70's!
I use your youtube videos as my white noise to help me sleep at night. also I am autistic. i like 15 passenger vans, and Airbus A321 aircraft as a hobby. i also like Yamaha stereo equipment.
So interesting reading all these comments from experienced drivers and some passengers too! As an ex p/t driver from way back in the seventies everything here looks. sounds, drives like RR! I own a Mercedes car (ML350) and am told by experienced coach drivers that if they have a choice they go for the Volvo over the Merc every time! It sounds pretty even split between the Scania (which I love) and the other Swede, the Volvo! What about the M.A.N? Any comments from drivers!? 👍Great video - many thanks!
My daily coach is an Irizar i6s 14.37 on Scania 450 HP from 2019. The indicator noise is disturbing, but else it's whisper quiet, you can barely hear the engine from the driver seat. There's no rattling from the body or interior.
Bennett’s have 7 scania levantes. I’m biased. As have only ever had BG8 which is KPX. that one used to sound really good. But now it sounds like it wants to die. Which isn’t too good for a 3 year old levante
That's just an indication of how good the coachwork is and the insulation, which if it's been a National Express vehicle then those are the standards they are aiming for.
Scania for me. Not a fan of the Volvo hate the massive steering wheel, hate that there is too many gears it can never settle down and I hate the brake and accelerator pedals. However I prefer the heating system on the Volvo its easier to use.
As I've always found to be the case, the Volvo is like a Rolls Royce in comparison, Scanias harsh suspension is appalling. I've never ridden or driven a Scania bus or coach that is any different.
In my own experience purely as a passenger a decent Volvo has always been better on an incline than any Scania and I have heard Stagecoach drivers say the same thing about the Scania. Whereas the Volvo seems to be most drivers favourite at our local Stagecoach depot. One of my neighbours still drives p/t for them.
Does anyone know why these are so rattly and noisy compared to other coaches? The coach that took me from Stansted to central London was a charabanc compared to the Setra I rode on in Austria earlier the same day. Couldn't believe the difference, the Setra was like a Rolls Royce in comparison, smooth and whisper quiet.
Scania all day everyday. I drive these types of coaches for a living so Scania all the way , eco and comfort the best. Volvo may be 1 or 2mph quicker but doesn't make a difference, the dashboard on the volvo is also not as good as the Scania one.

Lovely coach to drive the Volvo Caetano.

The Scania is okay, but nothing beats the power of a Volvo.

The scania BV17GPZ was operated by travel de courcey on their national express routes.drove it a few times on the 777,210 and 212 airport services.

Good to see you are as good as JW the wee Yorkshireman
Surprised with the amount of noise the scania makes. The volvo is soo quiet that even the indicators become noisy
Scania sound comes from the gearbox--ZF, only ZF have sound like that
Bennett’s have 7 scania levantes. I’m biased. As have only ever had BG8 which is KPX. that one used to sound really good. But now it sounds like it wants to die. Which isn’t too good for a 3 year old levante
@@俊章-q9h Scania uses Scania Opticruise gearbox not ZF
there must be something wrong with it? The design was hardly approved considering how loud it is!

Volvo. Am biased because we only drive Volvo Levantes. Compare it to the Scania, am surprised how noisy the Scania is
Scania for me.

What is the voice that I hear when he’s outside the bus?
Scania captivated me
the volvo sounds and looks like it drives smoother. the scanny sounds like the gbox is slipping lol
Scania all day long for me. it has a better dash board than a Volvo
Volvo for me
It’s sooo quiet that the indicators are what you would hear the most
Great video. ☺️
Imagine using these types of buses in a local bus route
Some places in northern Ireland do. Caetano double Decker is used on some school runs
It looks exact the same Volvo tractor unit , i’m a class 1 driver
Wow😮😮
Will Caetano have an Integral coach chassis ?
Hi, can I I ask the weight of these laden and unladen please!!! Thanks again

the scania one sounds like it's electric
I think that noise of the Scania would do my head in all day long.🙄☹
It seems like the Scania ia an older Levante than the Volvo they used in this comparison video
Both vehicles are Levante IIs, the Volvo is a 16 plate while the Scania is a 17 plate.

Road quality is likely the answer. If the Setra is in the UK, give it a year or two and it will start rattling.
Love the coach I've seen a few white ones around the thing is it looks they seat belts it's different do they travel along way
👍👍👍👍👍

Does anyone know and can confirm that National Express own Caetano?
No, they don't.
They don’t but most of there busses are catenos
NatEx has a part % share in the Caetano. So yes that's why Caetano is the provider. NatEx owns some part of Caetano.
Nah they don't, but the company are a big fan of caetano and if your wondering, yes the caetano Levante 3 was specifically made for national express
fresh from national express ?
Probably fresh from the manufacturer
Good workhorse but scania better on the driver
@@TDSWarNo, as seen by the License plate it’s a 2016 so it would have been 5 years old at the time.
In today's environment, coaches need wrap round screen to protect driver from physical abuse , x national express driver
Volvo all day for me.
Definitely the Volvo
Why are coaches so rattly? I like coaches the rattling sound annoys me so much sounds like it's about to fall apart!
Cheap bodywork (Caetano)
Volvo for me canny beat a volvo
