Yes, it is very possible for students to start selling on Mercari. The app is in Japanese and can be a good way to learn Japanese, too (you can cross-reference it with an English version and make use of some guides found on the internet). Selling a can of tomatoes huh? Lolllll you cannot use this application without knowing Japanese! You have to be able to interact with the buyer/seller to avoid mistakes or if you have information about product photos/info and quality. If you make a mistake, for example if you sell a listing and make a mistake on the listing price and the item is sold, you cannot go BACK. You must contact the mericari management and you will get a strike or a warning. You also need to be able to fill out where you live, how long it will take to ship, etc. You need government issued PHOTO RESIDENT ID and valid visa to even open an account in Japan. You also CANNOT sell counterfeit or fake merchandise. And if this is mericari in Japan, once you are banned or caught doing anything fraudulent, you may be investigated, arrested, and at best your account will be closed and you will not be able to use the services ever again. It’s not like mercari in the USA where you can make countless accounts.

When you send a package through mericari into the automated machine, you have to agree and acknowledge that you are not sending any kind of liquid/perfume, anything flammable, dangerous and so forth. If you make a mistake sending a package with the wrong size, the package will be sent back to you, and it will not allow you to finish the transaction. YOU HAVE TO SEND THE PACKAGE, or mericari will void the transaction in due time. You then have to contact the buyer/seller directly and ask them for their personal address to send the package via there private home address. Some people don’t want to give out their personal info. A lot of things can go wrong. And you have to be able to do all of that in their native language. Unless your friend or spouse speaks Japanese, or the buyer/selller your dealing with speaks English themselves.

Hi Zukhriddin! In the old Mericari, one can leave a "positive (良い)", neutral (普通)" or negative (悪い)" rating on youe buyer/seller. These ratings would then be averaged out and reflect on the star rating that you can see on your profile. With the new Mericari, it's just either "positive (良い)" or negative (悪い)" rating. Those assholes banned me just because the account name did not match the bank account name. Don’t mind that I had 105 sales and 100% satisfied customers with not one complaint. Rakuma is a much better app to be used. I’ve got over 390 sales and counting.
The way she pronounce the word “Mercari” shows that she is not really using the app always. For you to know something or use always you should atleast know the right pronunciation of that thing.
What makes you think that your own pronunciation is the correct, or only way? You saw the word for the first time, pronounced it as best you could, and now assume that is the only way, neh?
