Proud to have followed Popa on tour in France in 2001. Myself and 2 crazy friends took some time off and travelled to France and watched 12 shows in a month. Became friends with the entire touring musicians at that time, cant forget Larry Crockett on drums.....What an adventure 20 years ago!.

1st a simple Folky blues post depression era, then Jimi Hendrix reMade it Electric blues great, Poppa C made it a freaking guitar masterpiece keeping true nods to its roots, one of the best guitar performances of all time favorites. ( then jelly says one if his fave singers" rotfl, hard swallow, envy . Im sure theres millions more cant credit a magnificent remake & performance, both by Poppa C. JUST. WOW!.BEAUTIFUL

I’ve watched this video countless times, I think it’s the best cover of Hey Joe hands down. Watching tonight and staring at that Fender I just realized how much he manipulates tone with that switch. It’s absolutely incredible the tone he gets.
I have a few popa cd's all fantastic . but live this man is a god on guitar.I'm sure if Jimi were here he would love this .Every note is as clean as can be ..Its hey joe made better if you can ever do that.

I recall seeing Papa Chubby at Terra Blues NYC back in the early 90s. There were a lot of great players playing there then including Joe Palmerini, Micheal Powers, Grant Green Jr., Jeff Pevar and Jeff Heley when he was in town. There were a lot of not so good players too. . . but when Papa Chubby walked in the door I knew it was going to be good.

I' ve known this musician for more than 15 years - back then he has already been huge in every sense of its word.
I have admired his originality. His unique voice paired with his guitar skills.
I have to admit I am almost surprised to see him still well and making music almost just like 15 years - only his beard has gotten grey...

Funny seeing this 2 1/2 years later - was at this concert sitting about 3 person deep from the stage right in front of him, first time seeing Poppa, this was great!!!!
