Legend has it that Ryan is still riding El Toro lecturing riders that a block zone is a section of ride that only one train may occupy. At the end of a block zone is a method to stop the train in case the block zone ahead is still occupied. This is the safety system that prevents roller coaster trains from colliding with one another
I appreciate your honest opinion and respect your right to it. Now here's mine! It's obvious that you do not like one of the best sections on the ride, the speed curves. The lateral forces are insane, especially if you know how to ride them, throwing your body from side to side. Also, who ever heard of a smooth bucking bull ride? The section after the camelbacks provide another blast of laterals that make this coaster stand out. Yes, El Toro is not for everybody. Neither is bull riding for everybody. But for those who appreciate what it is this is a world class ride like bull riding is a world class sport, not designed for the faint of heart. To give this ride a 9 is a major red flag for me to go check out ElToroRyan's top notch review of this coaster. It doesn't have to have non-stop excitement to be the best. Everything about the rides works together to make it the best ride I have ever ridden and that's not saying much since I haven't ridden Lightning Rod, or Voyage, or T Express, etc. I just got 4 rides this weekend past and it is just as good as it's ever been seeing I now know how to not get stapled . I move the seat belt to the side of my mid section and suck my stomach in when they go to staple me. In conclusion, I wish I rode this ride when it didn't slow down before the drop, but I enjoy the anticipation of one of the world's best drops. No disrespect intended here, but I think anything less than a 10 out of 10 here is a misrepresentation of how bonkers this ride truly is including the rough spots, and tame sections that I refer to as the calm before the storm! Thanks for your honest thoughts!
No problem. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I agree the best elements on El Toro are exceptional, but I'm not a fan of the calm before the storm parts. I have seen the El Toro Ryan review and it's excellent.
@@timothywait9457 they ruined it. Took out the launch, let it get rough, and took down the trees. I haven't ridden it, but it's fallen way down my bucket list since it opened.
I feel like the final twister section is an underrated part of El Toro. Everyone says that the ride is over after the rolling thunder hill, but I honestly loved getting flung side to side during the twister section. It perfectly rounds out El Toro's forces with the insane negatives on the drop, camelbacks, and rolling thunder hill, and the bone crushing positives, with some great lateral forces right at the end.
Being a wood loving fan myself, I found el Toro to be the perfect ride. The elements you personally don’t love are elements I cherish. The entire ride feels like a complete thought vs a loud statement devoid of nuance.
Good review but I definitely feel like it deserves a respectful 10/10. It’s unlike any other coaster - and that first drop is truly awesome and insane (it’s a shame they slowed it down). Back seat ride all day long!
El Toro is my #1 bucket list coater in the US (At least until Iron Gwazi opens). My top 4 wooden coasters I hold in high regard- 1. Lightning Rod 2. Outlaw Run 3. The Voyage 4. GhostRider It will be interesting to see where El Toro compares to those 4 for me. I should be getting to ride it in 2021. Nice review!
This coaster is amazing. The middle section is a bit weak but the airtime at the start and the end makes up for it. I got to marathon it 22 times today
It has gotten a little rough in spots.....but you cannot say anything bad about the first drop or the rolling thunder hill. The speedy "slalom" section in the second half of the ride is super intense and crazy fun. But that rolling thunder hill ......what an experience.
Thank you, this is exactly what I expected from this review, u reviewed this coaster perfectly and also u have pretty much the same opinion as me on this ride, it has 4 world class airtime moments and that’s it, there is just so many dead spots and it feels a tad short, and I completely agree with ur statement on pacing, that’s very similarly to how I judge a coasters pacing as well, this is also why I prefer a ride like WickCy, yes the airtime might be a a bit weaker, but it’s still strong enough to satisfy me, but it has so much more airtime moments and no dead spots, I think ppl need to stop having tunnel vision when it comes to el toro and look at the whole package
@@CanobieCoaster yeah if u want quality airtime el toro is perfect for u, and im glad i finally have found someone else who values pacing and non stop action the most
I've not ridden El Toro yet, but it must be at least somewhat awesome if it's considered to be Six Flags's best coaster even by people who don't think it's the world's best wooden coaster. I love the fact that you finally mentioned the B&M gigas's drops to this to compare it to. Even though I've never ridden any B&M hyper coaster (be them juniors or gigas) I'm tickled, since I always imagined Fury 325 and Orion's Drops to be 1st tier drops. I think I'd personally agree with which parts of El Toro are the best, especially as a back car enthusiast; the drop and 1st two camel backs experienced in the back car look like pure roller coaster heaven to me. Thanks for this review; I can only say I think I agree. Thanks for posting!
In terms of smoothness, what do you think about the ride? Canobie Coaster would say: When El Toro opened, I heard... A) it was a notoriously rough ride B) it was a glass smooth ride C) it had some rough jolts but mostly smooth
My #1 Wood nad #2 Overall. The quality of those elements is unparalleled for me (besides EGF) and I rather have a few excellent moments than numerous great elements.
Correct me if I’m wrong but is Colossos 194-196 feet tall because I looked on RCDB in the past and several countdown videos and they all said that but now it says 165 feet:
I know it's not a question related to this video, but have you greyed out on Nemesis? It hasn't happened to me and I've ridden it 30 or so times and i hear everybody saying they grey out on the helix
This is my number 7 overall and top wood coaster. I love the aggressive ride, the sustained airtime, and whenever a train darts in and out of the structure. I rode this last night when it was only 45 degrees. That was epic.
I think the slower parts of the ride shouldn't take away from the experience. Yes the pacing is a bit slow in the middle, but I think that's actually good because it makes you think the ride is coming to an end before THROWING you out of your seat over the rolling thunder hill, which is something you'll probably not see coming if it's your first time riding. The very last few hills don't bother me because they're that, the last few hills. The only real flaw I agree with is that bumpy turnaround which is just a tad rough, but overall I don't think it's that bad. You just have to make sure to sit in the second to last row since it isn't a wheel car. Also, interestingly enough, the airtime is actually much stronger near the front of the train.
I agree completely with everything you said here. I got my rides in June 2019, and I have been baffled ever since why people give it such extremely high praise, consistently in peoples' top 5 overall. Those rough spots and the dead spots really took away from the ride for me. Still, those 4 moments are so ridiculously amazing! Those are enough to land high on my list, but definitely not top 10. To say it’s close to the epic intensity of El Toro is just mind boggling to me.
Well, to each their own!
I agree El Toro is more intense than either of those two pre-fabs. I think the score at the end isn't as important as the justification. This is a ride I can definitely see others having as their favorite, but it's not quite that for me.
Canobie Coaster Are you a viewer of coaster-net? They share your views of Toro’s alleged flaws and then some!
Yes I've seen some of those videos. But everyone's different opinion is why it's worth experiencing the ride yourself.
Canobie Coaster Definitely.
some of the world's hardest working up-stops
Definitely.
Incredible laterals and ejector airtime.
Incredible ejector
@@CanobieCoaster right
One of my favorites. I rather like the finale. Feels like a wild bull hence the name.
I definitely can appreciate why someone would love El Toro more than me.
Canobie Coaster would say:
El Toro is a very good wooden coaster and I think it's overrated. For me, El Toro is defined by four moments, the first drop, the two camelbacks and...
Rolling Thunder hill.
Do you have a instagram account?
I just made one, but I haven't started using it yet.
If anything I think El Toro is underrated but I respect your opinion.
I can totally see why someone would find this ride one of the best in the world with the strength of that airtime.
What are the differences between an overrated coaster and an underrated coaster? What do you think?
Overrated gets too much love. Underrated doesn't get enough love.
If the airtime is as wild as you say, I don't think I'll care if there are dead spots.
The airtime is legit.
Maybe you'll be shocked but I'd take El Toro over Steel Vengeance any day
I can understand why people have that opinion for those 4 amazing moments.
@@CanobieCoaster This is why I still prefer Intamin over RMC. While RMCs are more fluent, Intamin coasters just feel crazier overall.
why notten
The middle and end aren't elite.
I rode this in the very back in 2023 and after the rolling thunder hill I hit my head on the corner of the train
Ouch, sorry that happened.
Being chubby leaves no wiggle room for me on Toro. I need to be stapled to verify.
It really is an unaccommodating ride.
I'm admitting my fat, bu Skyrush is super comfy compared to this thing. Considering just skipping it in the future.
In my opinion the should make El Toto into a hybrid. It would be better.
I don't mind the bumps El Toro has since Great Adventure is quick to fix them.
@@CanobieCoaster it not the bumps in my opinion it just that if El Toro was a hybrid it would probably be better then Steel Vengeance.
I'd rather Great Adventure use money on new rides.
@@CanobieCoaster that’s true as well. Great Adventure hasn’t had a real ride in a long time
Jersey Devil looks awesome though!
Can’t wait to ride this in 2022 when it’s fully refurbished
Me neither!
I understand
Thanks!
it is over rated i prefer Colossus at Hydel Park and Voyage at holiday world but its still a very good ride i do not think Steel vengeance at ceder point is Overrated
I much prefer Voyage but I prefer this to Colossos by a slim margin.
I think many enthusiasts did give el Toro a 10 out of 10. What do you think?
9, the pacing isn't perfect.
I NEED to ride this
It has some of the best airtime moments of any coaster.
From what I’ve seen, RMCs are totally unforgiving for larger guests!
El Toro is far worse. Not only does it not have a large margin, but even if you get the light, it can switch off if the train isn't immediately dispatched.
@@CanobieCoaster oh wow! I didn’t know that!
@@goonch7956 my sister who is sometimes boarderline on some Intamins and RMCs fit on El Toro and Millennium Force
I am shocked of your thoughts and honestly I’m pretty disappointed. You should try and getting here to ride it more often you will probably appreciate it more
I've ridden it across several visits over the past decade. My thoughts haven't really changed.
What was the most overrated coaster you've ever ridden of all in the world?
I have a video on that.
As of nov 23 the base of the turnaround is the only bad spot
That part has routinely been the worst part in recent years.
Not giving this a 10 is criminal.
I know it's not a popular opinion, but I do think it's overrated.
I think some give el Toro a 10 out of 10
Many enthusiasts do.
Have you met ElToroRyan?
Yes, a few times.
love t-express in korea
That one is on my bucket list.
No Offense but this ride is terrible i had a back pain for a day and i had a major headache for hours
Ouch! I like it, but there are some noticeable jolts.
El Toro in no way is overrated.
It depends what you like. If you prioritize extreme quality over quantity, it's as good as people say. I prefer a consistent ride start to finish.
How dare you badmouth the great El Toro
I still gave it a 9!
Derail the ride.
Sadly
overrated???? THUMBS DOWN
I think it has 4 of the best airtime moments in the world, but I wish the rest of the ride was better than decent.
Canobie Coaster would say:
I'm giving this coaster a 9 out of 10. My favorite roller coasters are great from start to finish. In my opinion, that's where El Toro suffers. I'm not a big fan of El Toro's pacing. The ride hauls until the very end, I will not deny that, El Toro is a fast ride and it feels fast, but I consider pacing...
How many good elements a ride has in a row/how engaging it is.
Canobie Coaster would say:
El Toro is refined by four moments, the epic first drop, the two amazing camelbacks and the insane Rolling Thunder hill. Those four elements are as good as any coaster. The rest of the ride has no true standout elements. I'm giving this coaster a 9 out of 10. My favorite roller coasters are great from start to finish. In my opinion, that's where El Toro suffers. I'm not a big fan of El Toro's p_ _ _ _ _ .
