Alright finally a good video. Thank you so much. Shop wanted $1,500 to fix this, so it is something that I really want to try to do myself, but it is so overwhelming as I am scared to forget how to put everything back.
I've been waiting 2 yrs to see these regulators actually be removed. I have a pre facelift c207 E350, so not exactly the same but close enough! I'm good on getting the panels etc off, but actual removal of the glass & regulator definitely had me concerned to say the least. You've done God's work here!! Thank you!
Wow!!! Amazing work mate, congratulations. My mechanic told me to change the whole system although the motor is working, i will inform him for the fixing kit for my CLK 200. Thank you
So this is something I’m dealing with right now on my 2007 CLK and you’re video helped so much also I found a way to remove door panel without removing back seats
Hi. Please tell me how to remove the door panel w/o having to remove the back seats. I just acquired a 2005 from my brother. In addition to the rear window issue, he says it has a tear in the top and it is burning oil excessively. I do as much of my own repairs as I can. I want to know what I'm facing before he brings the car to me.
And yes like that got the window regulator out woohoo! Inspecting it, the cable is completely gone. I see the broken plastic piece, but the cable is nowhere to be found. So weird! Well thank you so much for this video. Now on to fixing this regulator :)
You are correct you don’t have to remove the seats however, I’m glad I did it for my installation because it allowed me to have way more room and access to remove panels.
I did this on my wifes convertible. Huge job, this is. It's always the same plastic piece that brakes. I'm surprised an aftermarket company hasn't designed a metal on to replace it, so it never brakes again, like the vacuum actuator lever on the intake manifold. Only one window quit working, but I ordered the kit with both repair parts for both sides. It's a good thing, because the other one was broken too. It just didn't bind like the other one. It broke in a slightly different section. Good video. I just got me the same car I got my wife, and now one side is grnding when it goes up. The guy I bought it from said he had it in the shop to repair one of the windows. It seems they only fixed the one and didn't bother with the other one. What? You're not supposed to have extra parts when you're done? I thought that was supposed to be a sign of a good mechanic that can get the job done with less parts. LOL
Hi From Portugal, same car, same problem, great video, need to see several time this video to do this repair 😬😉... By the way, great work! Best Regards
really cool video. got my new love, also 320 w209 and thinking of changing some things. this video gives great insight. really appreaciate it! greetings from germany
Marco: Thank you very much for your video and explanation. Your work was spot on. Clear and concise. Tremendous help. FYI, current kit $35.00. Bad news was that I had 3 nuts left over. Good new was that I found their proper placement location on presenter frame and air bag. On a similar issue I am tackling soft top cylinders on our 2005 CLK 500. Any videos on that? Thanks again. Have a great day.
True. The cables that came in the kit bought from Amazon, were maybe one inch one short. It was very difficult to put them in place. I'm not sure if that can cause too much pressure on the plastic parts and brake them apart.
@@MarcoCerqueira thanks for you comment. The original cables were scrambled and destroyed. I found just one spring left and not usable. I installed the cables from the kit. As I said, they were short and very tight to install. I lubricated the cables and gears. Hopefully it last. I rarely use the rear windows, but regardless, the plastic parts broke apart. They should be made of metal.
So far half way done just an update. Once you understand it gets easier. Mine is a convertible and also a 63 AMG so probably is a lot easier having the top down, but it is very different in a lot of steps so I ended up just having to figure it out on my own. Either way got the seats and middle speaker out so far and now just working around the panel since I can access those 3 torx screws that were hidden behind the seat now.
Hi marco, im in the process of replacing the cable part. I think i wrapped it around the pulleys correctly. However my question is should i be able move where it slides back and fourth by hand after installing the cables
I repaired the rear window on my 99 slk. Same broken plastic. It was tricky but very accesible. You have done a great job with this video. I only have one question. Do you really have to remove the seats and the lower panel?
Thanks! I was learning as I went since it was the first time I had to do this. I do recall the the seat back are in the way and you can’t remove the seat back with the bottom cushion in place, so it does make easier. Door panel bottom can stay, I think.
Hello I did my repair but I have a question in mind. Does it fit perfectly on the plastic legs in the glass regulator or it only holds my 3 screws. I made the adjustment well, but only the plastic coating in the 3 screw regulator that holds my glass does not touch the feet. What should be
Sorry, I don’t think I really understand your question. However, if you’re talking about the three screws that hold the metal regulator in place those should be tight. If you’re talking about the screws that hold the actual glass in place those do not need to be super tight, but there should not be any slack. If I remember correctly, I believe those plastic washers go in front and behind the glass so that there’s no actual metal touching the glass. Everything should go back the way it was before you remove it. Hope this helps. Good luck.
Yesterday I fix my right window but when I push the button doesn't want to go all the way down. Also when I open my door the window go a little down not how it should be. When I push it it goes all the way down whit open door but does not want to do it self. Any idea why?
There is a longer cable and a shorter cable. It could be that you have them switched. This would limit the amount that the window could travel. Before you take it all apart try to do a window reset. if you don’t know how to do that, here is a link on how to do it. Good luck. th-cam.com/video/M1h4hBEDGyk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=-5bJnEWHlSvVC6Fm
I’ve make a mistake putting the long cable on top of the wheel and the shorter on the bottom. Now after I watch your video for a million time I realize what stupid mistake I've made …. 😢
Great video, If you get a quick reply it’ll be muchly appreciate as it’s currently on hold! Haha I disconnected the battery as you said, now new regulator is back in, I want to check its working perfectly before I put it all back together. What do you think? Can I put the battery in? Air bag won’t go off? Scared to do anything around that thing 😂😅
Hard to tell exactly because I was filming which doubles your time. I also was working without a shop manual so I learned as I went. So it took me a couple of weekends maybe 12-16 hours. You can probably do it in half the time time that there is a video on how to do it...LOL

Great job and explaining dude. I will do it too but i have an issue. My window is halfway downed and stuck there. How can I dismantle it?
Process is the same. Once you start diving into it you should be able to manually move to window to access the bolts to remove the glass…good luck

You're welcome!
Everything perfect, I had a problem when mounting, the seat belt does not work, do I have to configure it or something? Thank you
Is it possible you might of left something unplugged? There is no need to reset anything other than just adjust the window itself.
also where is the release for the top of the rear seat to lower it down?
In the trunk right at the top
Marco, can I get that part number you got on ebay? Or the description of that plastic piece so I can look it up myself?

The cable pulls the window up and down of the track as the motor moves the pulley
