- Our Landcruiser attempting the Gunshot Creek crossing. It didn't quite make it... Part of our Cape York 2011 Adventure. Recorded on 5th of July, 2011.
Part 4 - • Bertie Creek Crossing ...
Part 6 - • Cockatoo Creek Crossin... - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ
The years have certainly changed the Gunshot dramatically.
"I think we got him stuck". classic. Wheeling is fun
That is a difficult decent he took. You don’t see people tackle that track very often into Gunshot Ck because it just looks so wrong. A+ for effort and for giving it a go. Not many would have the guts to do that one.
I’ve been there twice and so far tried a chicken track the first time, and the second time I did the other decent just to the other side of the original. I scraped all up the LHS rear of my bumper. The Patrol that immediately followed me (who I didn’t know) rolled it on its side on the way down. Took half an hour for his mates to recover his car. Was kinda funny.
I did the Gunshot in 1989 in a 1983 FJ 45 Troopy. Looks completely different these days. I also crossed the Jardine in the FJ. That thing was unstoppable
At least he had a crack. That's how you learn isn't it? Lots of keyboard warriors here. lol
Alex Caddell If you think that getting stuck is just something that happens to bad drivers you just know nothing about driving offroad. If you are in really hard terrain you will spend more time shovelling and winching than driving. But Dan Stormer was right....just a bunch of keybord warriors.
+Alex Caddell Sooo next time they'll be prepared, meaning they learned something.
if there is no challenge, then there is no fun...
Dan Strommer That's right mate. If you're not getting stuck, the tracks you're on aren't tough enough. I'd encourage everyone to take their stock fourbies out and get in trouble and learn to recover and how to wheel rather than open their wallets and pray that 35s and all the barwork south of the equator will get them through.
What did he learn?
thought gunshot was bigger and closed in on both sides
Gunshot is just the name of the creek mate there's heaps of obstacles there
Probably already answered the question but how did you go about getting him out in the end? It would have been a task to hook something on the front unless you hooked to the top of the Bullbar but that would have put a lot of strain on the bar
Well as he said, Left is Left, Right is Right but to eliminate confusion as the driver and callers are usually facing each other, we say "Left hand down", "Right hand down", to indicate which way to turn the wheel.
1:30 the look of, “where Frucked boys”
So who walked the track first?
lol, next time pull the winch cable out before you burry the nose
Would lockers make a difference??
That approach angle is brutal!
I thought that would have been the way you guys went. Definitely the smartest and best option to pull her out properly
at least ge tried
No other places to cross??
i would have gone right wheel along that little side part on the left
There are two tracks across gun shot creek .
1. the hero drop. (this was lame compared to when i saw it)
2. the easy way .
Take my advice and take Number 2.
Gun shot creek is still along way from where you want to be.!
Other crossings are far more dangerous .
Take care .
yes but some people love to make life hard for the adventure,,i live up near this place and its not a good place to break you car,,very very expensive to get it back to weipa to fix it. upwards of $3000
Approach angle and ground clearance really do matter.
@markssite Better off shutting engine down if you have no oil in the oil pump pick up.I would have shut it down too, let the winch do the work then check it out before cranking it again.
Is it just me or is that suspension really low even for factory? Not even a 2 inch lift?
May see you up there!
An 8 year old comment! Wow
damaged bullbar or if it hit under probly bent the shasy hittin that hard
At least you had your fishing pole with you!! LOL
There was no way that would ever work. The approach angle is obvious just by looking at it...
It's down there ooohhhh
Haha thanks for that- it made me chuckle...... any true off-roader has done something like that at some point.
As for the Left/Right....Driver/Passenger.......Port/Starboard argument- the guys guiding him are stood right in front of him, there is a drop he can't see past the bonnet- Why not just guid him by hand- pointing can't be mistaken, and it gives the driver something to concentrate on!!
Some of you might know something I don't... as far as I can tell the best way to do it in that car is not to...
I think we've got him stuck
That is not gunshot it is one of the tracks around gunshot
You’re*... and yes, gunshots is the hole beside him, moron.
Gunshot is the name of the creek - there are several ways across it!
Hawko T g
Your right hawko.thats one of the other options.
Mate we did a lot of digging under the front of the car under the water to hook it up to a winch properly. I think the car would have been in that position for at least an hour after we got it stuck.
Did y’all consider pulling the winch cable out or attaching a snatch strap before hitting the obstacle?
I'm no 4 wheeler but why not reverse out?
Albert albert too dangerous, passenger rear could slip off and cause rollover
why does gunshot looks different in different videos?
Because there are about 10 different entries. Only 3 or 4 are regularly used. This year, the drop to the left was in use, and the track this guy took was out of action.
@@MrBundyrumandcoke thanks for update
lol thats gotta suck, but thats the joy of 4x4 , awesome fun
And why do so many people think the old original vertical track descending in is Gunshot? Gunshot is the name of the bloody creek. When u see this place it looks like a bomb went off in there. It’s a mess quite literally. And there are heaps of descents that have been knocked in through the bush to reach the bottom now. Shame really that people lack the respect to leave things as they are.
it's down there, ohhh .......
Why.....??
I dont know why you would do that with that truck being that close to the ground
Why?-theres a track around, sure its a bit longer less extreme ,out there thats no place to break your rig..
Why not. Don't go down there to go around it
Landcruiser departure angle: "no"
This obviously isn't the first time this has happened. To the left of the truck (his right) is a elevated path for the right tires so this doesn't happen. Lol
or left hand down and right hand down
haha! "i think i need a pull..."
I was thinking he would use the ramp next to the water, then bang!
Luar biasa👍👍👍
Really?
FAR OUT !!! :)
@Nytowl7 Nah, Defanatly a Subaru!!! :P
Um no a toyota
was it even in 4x4
yes.. you can easily see the smoke off the front wheels after he gets it stuck, as they spin on the rock
Dude, that car is a permanent 4x4. You just disqualified yourself with one question, lol.
Hmmm seems the expensive ARB is to blame
@mechiefslapahobitch you mean prawns
Gunshot look way different now
a patrol would of made it through. ..cant wait to tackle this in 2 more months!
Mate!!!
im from the states (left hand drive) so i'd still be confused lol
Head First Into Trouble!😆🚘🏞
Offside and nearside champs.
That'll do, we'll camp here
funny video, I think we got him stuck:)
Famous last words, I think we might have got him stuck, no schick Sherlock
Aw well shit happens. Videos poster said they got him out with some digging so alls well in the end. Fellow can chalk that up to a lesson learned in preparing for a crossing and hopefully not make the same mistake next time.
"Think we got him stuck..." lol whoops. Should have unwound the winch before going in or better yet, don't go down such a steep drop in the first place...
lot of work to go fishing
What no reverse
!FAR OUT !!! lolololol
That FJ80 needs bigger balls.
That seemed like the obvious outcome.....
"left" is left and "right" is right. Whats confusing about that? haha.
I think we got him stuck lol
lmao
hey thats a good idea,,cheers for that,,funny when i say no your other left hahahaha
soon as i saw the thumbnail i thought "i bet he plants it in that hole"
Ken Clague ...
no you didn't scrub.
Winch cable out could have been handy lol to start with now I guess someone had to get wet lol 😂 9 years ago now know better now I guess
shit happens
You guys need bigger tires!
ah.. stupid me trying to be smart.. haha
😂😂
That's funny shit
Oh, he fucked up... ! :-)
did cape trip twice both times a jeep in the crew lasted 1 day and was fucked there shit
lol
That's not gunshot mate. That's next to gunshot.
Seriously. What's the bloody point?
Fun sending the next half hour trying to get the damn thing out - there's another one of a Patrol towing a trailer down the original pass and he almost goes over - too dangerous so far from home and help for my liking
"Fun spending!"
i assume you mean *utes* not yotes :)
I call that "doing a Toyota".💩
why are u wearing a shirt ?? lol
あーあ。
角度がアウトー😊
your american so you would already be confused hahahaha,, just teasing hahaha
While Aussie are generally smarter than US in offloading...this was a fail from the beginning. Common sense says the UT is gonna hang up....sigh
You guys should say "passenger" and "driver" to avoid confusion. Instead of left and right.
Sorry....
that's not science, that is easy!!! poor conduct.
Mates, you've done it all wrong. You're taking the chicken track, this is the real gunshot creek track and this is how you take it.
/watch?v=2gEeWeLc2Z8&feature=plcp
he*
😂😂😂😂😂
Who wants to see a big ass stunt? Nice vid mate, hope it rakes it in....nissan drivers are pricks.
well that was stupid
he should of let his sister do it. hope he didn't impale himself on the gear stick. are all the spectators the ones who didn't make it and are stranded? what do they eat? maybe the forby could of made it if a couple of those stranded peeps threw themselves under the wheels? where's the nearest hospital? flying doctor? how did the dog go did it face plant the windshield? dose he have a cat and where did he store it? need spares? there might be something on that tree nearby?
Parked...
