Yep, top stuff this - a body of work that was sorely needed. And what a great presenter this fellah is. Have a word though, Ben - labelling layers and all... ;0)
Ben Marriot showing up in Jake's comment feed?! That's better than an Avenger's crossover...I'm in heaven! Now all we need is the Turbulent Displace song re-edited into the video and I can die happy!
When I saw this effect for the first time, I didn't know what this name meant (non-native English speaker and poor vocabulary 😂). Could only feel that this name was...fancy! Turned out to be a fancy effect, too. Very useful! Thanks for the great video, Jake!
I feel that showing what the grid actually does to create an effect might be helpful. Like, you spent so much time on the grid, but we don't get to see what it does and why your method is valuable.
Really helpful and very nicely explained, thanks a lot, you got yourself a new follower :D I'll try to apply this for a background trippy-like texture for my streaming
Muito obrigada! Eu costumava usar Liquify para obter esse efeito, porém, liquify é um efeito muito pesado e quase que impossível de usar. Turbulent displace é a melhor opção pra obter o efeito líquido.
Any possible way to have this effect without the animation? I have a shadow pass that needs to go over dry grass and Turbulent Displace looks great - except for the evolution.
Can anyone tell me why when I apply the "grid" modifier to a solid it appears as black and white? The only way that I can get it to show green is to use screen mode...
Hey, do you know maybe how to apply turbulence display but leave the stroke at no changed stroke width? Turbulent displace extend stroke width in some areas. I think I am supposed to apply turbulence displacement to the path with 0px stroke and after that apply the stroke. Is that even possible?
Not really. But if you're using shape layers you could replace the turbulent displace effect with the wiggle paths shape layer operator. That will distort the path prior to applying the stroke.
I there a way to fix the bottom from an object of for example a candle flame with the turbulent displace? So that this part get not much affected by it?
@@JakeInMotion I already tried it with that, but it is not working as intended. It would be, if there is an option for a smooth transition to the animation part.
Best Effect in AE, I won't hear otherwise. Such a good demonstration with the grid
Agreed, and thank you 🙌🏻
We are looking forward to see new tutorials @Ben Marriott :))
I put that stuff on everything!

Thanks! This is a nice, clear description. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you Jake!

Turbs are so satisfying
I am in love with this effect😍

What is the difference between Pinning > “Pin X”, vs “Pin X Locked”? (see 4:08 in video) Love these videos!
Subbed. Best tutorials for ae out there
love your tutorials. thx much
super clear explanation bro!
Thanks again for another cool tutorial!
Thank you jack
this has to be the only reason I'm using AE lately
I like using it with displacement map :)
nice explain thank you
Thanks 🙏

great tutorials thank you
Love it! 🔥
can you please a make video explaining how to use turbulent displace to create fire in air effect ?
thanks

Just discovered you. You seem to be super knowledgeable. Just curious as to your background in editing in AE.
Oh shit. School of motion too huh? Took bootcamp there. Rock on
@Jake I want to make the text warble. How do i do this?

how can i loop the animation of the evolution?

Shouldn't you do Turbulent Displacement vs Displacement Map?
Why isn’t my turbulent displace have movement?

when i use turb, it doesn't render, any fix?

Yes, that's exactly what the pin edges part of the effect is for.
@@JakeInMotion I already tried it with that, but it is not working as intended. It would be, if there is an option for a smooth transition to the animation part.
Still no Turbulent Displace Man :(
Hey Jake, I think you re-uploaded this video.
🤦🏻 thank you! Prepare for another video shortly 🤙🏻
@@JakeInMotion Great!
i dont have it thats so embressing
