People need to make decisions for themselves and be happy with it. We all have different reasons for owning them. They are tools. Its why I never tell someone “this is the camera you need to buy”. I just tell them why I like it or not. I’ve seen you very similar. Just people helping people.
With RED no longer having their exclusive rights for internal RAW video prices will have to stay lower. So much corruption involved with the original patent. Just hope the quality of the cameras dont plummet following this but they probably will. I think its great theyre switching to only global shutters. Personally I care way more about having a global shutter than 8K 120FPS. Theyre almost at the price that a peasant like me can afford one. For now Ill stick to my Panasonic S5 with Ninja recorder that allows me to shoot super 35 in cinema 4K with very low rolling shutter.
the patent issue still stands as it is simply in another companies hands who is much bigger than the original. I am with you regarding the shutter vs above 6k and I have no use for 120 fps as fun as seeing instagram posts and dream sequences were that could be fun. I think that If I want slow motion for a slow walking hair blowing in the wind or a flag on a battle field after an explosion I would likely want to rent a firefly cam or something for those shots.
Geoff Fagien, while it may be besides the point, tell me, please, what is the shoot going on behind you? Green screen and the Bridge. Is that a fan film, or ...?
Oh man - They get so adamant so opinionated and their angry little fingers hit the keyboard without actually watching or reading the material they’re getting irate over.
Yup, as I mentioned to Brian, seeing how some of them reacted, you know what say what you want, but I’ll never send a referral or hire someone like that as how would they act on set?
The RED crowd always tries to flex before they even get to the point. Typically something like, "after shooting 3 feature films, countless lingerie ads and even taking Deacons' dog out for a sht..."
Fanboys gonna fanboy. The video I made about how Blackmagic killed RED...yeah, that went over with the fanboys like a fart in church too. Thankfully, no one posted it in a RED group though. 😄
@@ReachFilms Totally, I bought one too...and then Josh traded me one of his...and then I sold one of them to Carlos Q....so, I think I'm down to just one on-sale plastic football? 🤔
@@loudandclearmedia I’m doing a comparison full frame 6k vs Komodo next month on the Axanar set so will be interesting to see the image quality difference

@@ScottBalkum exactly that’s why we get along so well Scott. Thank you for the support over the years
Red was over hyped for a long time , with the recent sale to Nikon , I believe it will be an afterthought for a min

Technically Nikon owns that patent now, so it hasn’t disappeared yet

What Canon Rf lenses don’t work on the Komodo x ?
The officially licensed ones made by sigma that just got released
@@ReachFilms but the canon Rf ones work
Sounds like to me Nikon is phasing out red, and will come out with their model in the future. Very predictable
Arent there whispers of an update for both the og and X ? Possibly to address the RF issue.
@@RoydenWakefield possibly, but an official announcement is better than whispers

Now the question is : what about the Komodo-X ?

If you're a real cinematographer, you know ALL cameras suck ass. (except maybe the 435)
The Red Komodo and Komodo X are getting updates soon... and the X just went down in price... $7K,
@@rubenrodriguez2590 I hope so!! I would love to finally be able to have a super small Komodo setup that isn’t a prime lens
I sold my KX earlier this year but I'll admit, a new KX for $7K is tempting.
My komodo is my webcam
SO Much Ping
Fu…, I just bought KX 5 days before…
Depending on the retailer you purchased from, some are refunding the difference if less than a week
For me the RED Komodo is dead if I stop using it lol
It's just a tool, and a wonderful one at that.
Told ya this before…. Red is dead…. $3000 price drop …… Nikon clearing them out…..
To anyone selling their Komodo? After the price drop, is it still worth selling?
