I am about to receive my first watch of my life. 24 years old and I’ve never had a watch. I’m getting a protrek 3510 and I am excited. I’ve always found watches to be so fascinating and I’m looking forward to this wonderful little gadget.
I’ve had the 3510 but ended up returning it. It was a nice watch but heavy and the sensor on the left side kept digging into my arm constantly. Not comfortable at all. The display was also ok but hard to read sometimes even during the daylight. I could also never get the multi band signal receiving to work. I ended up getting the PRG 600 instead and it’s like night and day difference. Much lighter, smaller sensor size, display easier to read and the backlight is amazing on it.
I just bought two pre-owned ProTreks, the PRW 6000Y-1a and the PRW 6900YL-5. Absolutely love them. I may be owning this watch in the near future. Great review.

I like the navy blue / black color on this. Whenever I see these I always think they are understated G-Shock GWG-1000 Mudmasters, inner module may be very similar. Not that there is anything wrong with that as they are some of the greatest watches in the planet. Great video thanks...
I laughed when you mentioned about how many new Casio ProTrek series Casio cranks out, we just can’t stop and move on, they’re so damn tempting! The watch you’re presenting is a fine looking watch, love the numerical full face instead of just a couple as is on the big brother of this one. I own 6 ProTreks and love them to death, just a great watch to use in my profession/career as an Infantry Senior NCO. I don’t really need my watch to have a GPS since most Infantry leaders carry their own personal Garmin GPS as a backup. But I prefer the analog face because it’s easier to read the time at night when theres a full moon so we don’t need flashlights. The luminescent face does create a problem since enemy night vision can see that almost a mile away so we tend to cover the watch with some tape or make/buy a face cover. Thanks for your video.
Darn you! You’ve got me thinking about buying a dammed Casio. I went and put on an old Suunto but it didn’t make me feel better. I hope you’re proud of yourself.
I love these watches. To get a G shock with every single one of those features costs a fortune. And I love the look of this watch and bezel. There is one reasonable G shock with a compass but it's a tiny compass, doesn't use the whole dial.
I really, really, REALLY want my PRW-6600Y to have the same backlighting feature of my PRG-650Y. Also I like the face of the PRG-650Y just a bit more, the more subtle colors on the numerals. I suppose an easier way to say it would be, I wish the PRG-650Y had multi-band 6!
My only complaint about the silicon is that they are sweaty. This is why I change them out. That being said, for a silicon band, they are really nice. I really like the band on the MaxiFresh Cloth band on the PRG-600YB-1.
Just ordered as my first Casio tool watch. At the price I paid ($190), it was practically a no-brainer. Only concern will be the size. I'm waiting to see how comical this will look on my wrist. Hopefully it's just mildly silly and not 'laughable hockey puck ridiculous'. Also, I personally prefer the heavier lume on the numerals of the 6600 vs the lightshow on the 650. I'd rather have the indices natively more visible in the dark without even having to use the illuminator. YMMV
Really nice watch. I have an older Pro trek that is just digital. It's too big for me 53mm. I wish they made one in 42mm, I would buy one. I love these watches but too big for me.

You evil man, you talked me into it. Same navy colour way "PRW-6600Y-2JF". Anyway, G'day from Sydney. Just got mine, "pre loved" - but pristine. Basically the "thinking man's" version of a Mud Master. No hate on Mud Masters, they're awesome too. (I have a GBDH-1000 for that chonky look). Anyone else from Oz reading this: 1. The multiband 6 doesn't work - well, not unless you're wearing a three wolves t-shirt on a high tide and a cherry moon. The tower was switched off here early 2000's. There are 'exotic' ways to do it, but meh. 2. And... you can't change the date to be the 'proper' way. Day/Month, instead of Month/Day - I knew this going in, obviously not deal breakers for me. Keep fighting the good fight Rob.
Nice video nice watch tempted to get one but the quick release strap...really put me off...not tough as unwound like it to be...thats the weakest link in any watch...the strap
Where is a good place to buy used? Also, is the negative display difficult to see in certain lighting conditions? It seems Casio likes these negative displays a lot.
This sounds very petty, but I'd rather the watch auto-time zone change would use the time zone hour +1/-1 instead of using city names. Does it adjust for those odd places where the time zone is in :30 and :45 (thirty and forty-five minutes). I would love to see a watch like this that has a slide ruler bezel like a pilot watch. A 24 hour option would be ideal for me too. Or a second face for UTC time.
What's the crystal size? Really want to buy a sapphire crystal, but would rather buy the crystal separate and get it replaced professionally, but don't want to pay jewler's markup for the crystal.
If really getting rough I would say go digital. Protrek I am sure could handle some abuse but unless you get one with sapphire Crystal it’s gonna scratch up too. Plus the hands can misalign with heavy impacts on analog
I’d like to believe it is. I’ve been looking for a watch that can replace the GWG-1000. I’m interested in the GWG, but fear its way too big for my 6in wrist. This 6600 seems to be similar, and isn’t too big. Might go for it
Picked mine up in amazon, guarantee it isn't a replica, the blue( which is the one i have ) was 190 and the black version was 350, obviously it went out of stock immediately, i was pretty lucky iguess
According to Camelcamelcamel, it was $190 most recently for 5 or 6 days before going out of stock from Amazon. Could be clearing out remaining stock, but this price has happened several times in the past year. Still a great get. Mine is scheduled to arrive next month.

On my PRW-6600Y-1A9CR the numbers light up from the light once the loom starts to dim. I think the the charged loom is brighter than the baclight.
