the only reason for me is so o can remember it, my memory is horrible especially in concerts when i’m having such a good time and my mind completely goes blank after, idk what it is but that’s the only reason i record the artist.
@yeyahmeow same here. I take lots of videos every time I’m at a concert because I can’t remember a thing otherwise. And I never ever film in a way that bothers other people, I’m always mindful about that
I they some just live-stream it for other people cause there's no way you'll have enough storage to record a whole concert if you'd have storage on your phone if you had it for at least an entire year. For an iphone an hour video with the best picture frame is 21 GB(GegaBytes) of your storage . Which is a lot of space even if you have 512GB on your phone.(Iphone is used as aa reference here because most people going to concerts nowadays have it.)
concert addict here! i personally love to record videos during concerts because watching them back makes me so happy, almost as if i get to relive it. that being said, i never let that get in the way of living in the moment. sure the videos might be blurry, shaky and loud, but i know i had the best time of my life. loved this vid you made some great points !!
I really appreciate that you included the positive things about the “tictokification” of concerts. I was fortunate enough to see Coldplay last September and I somehow landed tickets to go see them again in June. Obviously everyone was recording at the convert, but it did not stop the energy in the arena and the feeling of pure love for their music at all. It felt like everyone just wanted to preserve the moment through capturing via video. Coldplay does ask everyone to put their phones away during Sky Full of Stars and it is still one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen. Not one phone out and 70,000 people dancing like there is no tomorrow. I do not mind when people are recording, but that moment showed how incredible it can be if everyone just puts their phone in their pocket for just one song.
i also think shouting and screaming at concerts isn’t an issue, unless it’s the sad/quiet songs or a concert where it’s not ‘screaming music’ ig like cas
thank you so much for making this. when I went and saw sabrina in novermber. there was this girl who was recording the whole thing!! and when I saw Taylor there was a girl a few seats down who was sitting down and but her octo buddy on the glass (because we had first row middle bowl.) and she didn't even sing, dance or even smile the entire concert.
@@intaylorsgetawaycar aww that's good, she probably bought them tickets as they knew how much it would mean to them, that makes sense and she thought "I don't rlly know the songs im the sure the swifties who couldn't get tickets would appreciate a live stream and I'd make a lil money off of it" 😂😭❤
@@R3ALISMx who are you talking about? because both artists I mentioned sing live (taylor more than sabrina but that's beside the point.) the sabrina girl made me mad an even her mom had to yell at her for filming it.
The first time I saw Sabrina, I recorded everything to the point where my phone was at 2% by the end. I wanted to remember it. This time, I only recorded snippets because I knew someone somewhere would have posted their videos. So, yeah I have felt the change even though I don’t actually have TikTok.
Ppl filming themselves with flash on is most annoying to me. Especially if it's all night long. That was my experience when I saw Tate McRae. I was pissed because my friend and I travelled out of country for that show and we were in the nosebleeds, so not a very clear view to begin with. I get wanting to capture moments of yourself having fun at a concert (whether it's for social media or not), but I think there's a way to do it without ruining others' experience. Also, you should be paying to see/support the artist. Not yourself on selfie mode.
at the first concert i ever went to, i had a group of 4 girls in front of me who kept filming themselves with their phone flashlights for most of the night which just made it not as enjoyable as i know it could have been. i had large lights at the bottom of my vision constantly and was self-conscious the entire time cause i don’t wanna be uploaded to the likes of tiktok without me even knowing about it that being said, i do think it’s fine to record if it’s not bothering anyone (e.g. holding at your chest whilst you sing and dance). but when crowds on the floor are holding cameras up for an entire 90+ minute show or are holding a flashlight towards themselves for most of it, that’s where it’s too far and starts ruining other people’s experiences. some people argue that they paid for their tickets so they’ll behave how they want which, fair enough, but everyone else has had to pay too. please just be considerate of others!!
I went to see green day in june with my mate and we were the loudest people around us and no one cared about it but that's because we'd been listening to them and wanted to go and see them since like 2007. Also we did record little bits of it like our favourite moments. Just to keep the memories especially when it's such an old artist like green day and you don't know when and if they are going back on the road
Nothing is as strange as being in a crowd enjoying an artist and all of a sudden everyone pulls their phones out for 1 song (this can happen at festivals when you just stumble upon people) Then you realize they must have gone viral on Tiktok bc just for one song everyone’s phones are out and they’re dancing and singing, but then it stops. It’s cool to see people excited and happy and there’s something eerie and sad that the attention and care for the art just disappears when the viral song and their quick video to post on the internet about being in the crowd ends. I just feel bad for folks who are trying to build careers and share their art and it almost turns into a one trick pony where people only want the clips of what’s viral.
I record at shows because I get concert amnesia so it's really the only way for me to remember, and also because I like seeing what my view was like, not the view of someone on tiktok. I never record the whole show, though, and my phone never goes above my own sightline so I don't ruin other people's views
THIS. THANK YOU. Any time I go to a concert I take lots of videos because I black out in the moment and can’t remember a thing. Videos are the only way for me to be able to recall what happened, and I NEVER film in a way that others other people. I’m always very mindful about that. A lot of the time the videos I take are really bad and shaky because I’m not paying attention to my phone and watching the show through the screen, I’m too in the moment having fun to care what the final product will look like. As long as I have a way to just remember it, that’s all that matters to me
The screaming happened with some of the people behind me at the Eras Tour. I’m totally fine with loud singing in general, but they were full on SCREECHING during Illicit Affairs to the point where everyone near us just started turning to look at them
0:00 why are the vinyls in the background actually the realest thing known to man Also this video is AMAZING, I agree with everything that you’ve said in this video!
I hateee the people that only go to these big concerts because it’s the trendy thing to do and not because they’re a genuinely big fan of the artist. I’m a genuinely massive swiftie and I remember there were multiple times at my eras tour show this year where I was one of the only people in my section knew the words and/or was up dancing. I felt like one of the few that was having the literal time of my life and singing my heart out. This was ESPECIALLY the case during our surprise songs and both the entire tortured poets department and folkmore sets. like why are you there if you’re not gonna have fun the whole time? It really sucks because these people take spots away from a real fan. And then there’s the horrible scammers and resale bots, how is there ZERO regulation on this stuff? They’re the biggest reason it was so hard to go to the tour, and why the fact that I was able to was such a miracle. It should never be this hard to see an artist you like, ever
more and more artist are also going the route of no phone shows. where you put your phone in a pouch and if you need your phone there are phone zones where they re open the pouch. tool , ghost, jack white, there are a few comedians that are also going that route.
I think the concert issue I notice is the lack of etiquette that exists post pandemic, like I get that they need to learn but going on almost 5 years post-pandemic is not a good excuse for people not being considerate😊
can we bring back having fun?? i was at a rex orange county concert in austin and he said multiple times “i want yall to be hype and get loud” and i know not everyone is as extroverted as me, and i also understand not everyone likes being super hype and that’s also okay, but sometimes you know the vibe you’re going into…..and you just don’t have that energy? my friend and i were singing and dancing and we were in the BACK. nobody else was hype around us and actually people actively were turning around looking at us (not in a mean way, but it was still weird). please guys i beg HAVE FUN. be silly. no one cares.
In my country, in Southeast Asia, the unwritten rule is you can record all you want but never hold your phone above your eye level. Esp if you're not on tiered level. Same as screaming. Singing along is fine, we encourage it even. But screeching all the time is a no. And people here would really fight you if you do them
i think that screaming is fine unless it's a slow/sad song, and i think with filming is fine as well because i think people just wanna remember the concert and memories! but i think it's important to also be in the moment too so i just don't look at my phone when recording at a concert. :)
when i saw stray kids earlier this year, i took like... five photos during the show? maybe? and they were like the shittiest photos ever btw. i truly don't understand people who will film an entire concert and not have fun. like, i was out of my seat awkward vibey-dancing and it was great. the crowd was also so much less screamy than i'd anticipated - people sang along but not violently + the speakers were like ear shatteringly loud so even if everyone was belting their hearts out, you'd still actually hear the artists. people cheered and clapped when it made sense, not like they were in a competition to need vocal cord replacement. singing along at concerts is great, but not to a degree that it ruins the experience of people around you.
I agree with the flash thing 100% It’s so annoying and it makes it difficult for other people to see Plus sometimes the screaming can be annoying (ex: the I’M WORKING LATE CAUSE I’M A SINGER!” Person was just doing it to be annoying and get attention 🙄) I don’t mind people recording a few of there favorite songs from the show but Not the whole concert put your phone away and be in the moment.
I don't know why so many people are acting out in concerts, people are screaming the lyrics instead and throwing phones in front of other audience members faces (LIKE PUT UR HAND DOWN RECORD BELOW YOUR FACE NOT ABOVE), and then like ppl in gen z will be filming stuff they do like throwing stuff at celebs)
I went so zayn recently (context I’m 5’2) I could not see anything bc people just stood there with their hands in the air recording, they weren’t doing anything like singing or dancing and kept giving me dirty looks for singing and dancing
I agree, and I think they don't like the screaming beacuse they are not used to it. in Argetina for example, it is very know fact that everyone is very loud, so we dont fight for it. Also the self recording does not bother me unless they are in my face whit it. I whent to the weekend concert on 2023 and a girl in front almost trew my phone beacuse she was self recording and moving around ps: we are known for being loud and i love your videos
Do you think that TikTok has changed the fact that people line up for concerts? I feel like we’ve always lined up for GA! Also we used to line up for movies which I don’t miss 😂
i don’t understand why people will record themselves at a concert with flash on. i think that’s the most annoying thing imo. i don’t mind people taking videos but with flash on towards you?? the people by you probably can’t see that well and it’s just annoying. i’ve seen some record their reactions for a little bit and i think that makes sense (with flash off) but it just is so weird to record yourself with flash for a long time and not think about others affected by your behavior. any parent that lets their kid go to concerts should be teaching basic manners there…
I don't understand why people record literally the entire concert and then you can't see because all you can see is other people's phones
the only reason for me is so o can remember it, my memory is horrible especially in concerts when i’m having such a good time and my mind completely goes blank after, idk what it is but that’s the only reason i record the artist.
