Wow! Just like being at Hoboken! 🤩 Great show today gents! A VERY fast eights minutes too, it seemed like as soon as it started it was over. Lots of good action and camera work too! Thanks for posting!
I have a replica of the Earle Navy train which is local to my area along with the North Jersey Coast Line and MTH was kind enough to recreate one of Earle's SW1200s. I have only caught that train twice in my life in 2022 in my 28 years of living in the area. This train is very difficult to find and they recently started cracking down on railfanners when videos of their operations became popular with the wars going on overseas over the past 3 years so don't expect a new Earle train video anytime soon. USN police roll in at every crossing sometimes depending on how dangerous the loads are and if they catch you standing at any of their crossings, you could end up in their detention camp.
yes, Mike we past Earle many times going to and from the shore. Thanks for commenting. I enjoyed your Earle comment. It brought back many memories. Gary
@TheTrainboard Yeah it definitely is a sparotic operation as far as I can tell but its fun to catch if you run into it. The best way for people to get to know the Earle train is to join a train club. I wonder how MTH got permission to recreate one of Earle's locomotives
@mikepeck8291 sadly, there are no train clubs within 45 minutes of us in central jersey. No train shops no clubs. Instead, we are trying to build up , film, share and work on our own trainboard. We'll see how it goes. Thanks for your special comments.
That big boy derails on 072 curves, lionel warranty repair was of no help. We are hoping our planned 081 elevated run will let it run. Otherwise, someone with 099 curves will get a great buy. Gary
@TheTrainboard perhaps try tagging Dave in your problem thread on OGR and see if he can offer any insight.. it absolutely should not be derailing. Ours has run fine on our former fastrack 72 curves just fine, even with a cheater piece of 48 curve (our table dimensionally at one end was not totally condusive to 72 at the time). And it runs fine on all atlas 72 that we have now. The only derailing issues we've really had with it was when the track wasn't 110% level through a curve coming into or out of a straight section. Have you taken a long straight edge of at least 12 inches (can use a carpenters square) to your track lengthways..? The only other thing I can think of is I believe there's a pivot pin with a spring that comes down into that front set of drivers, and I seem to remember reading something about it can bind and cause the issue you're having. Either way, it's either a track problem or a mechanical one with the front set of drivers. When you say lionel was of no help... did you send it back and they came up empty? Or was it some back and forth via phone/email and they tossed their hands up?
