Maharaja and Maharani used to be side by side in my school and college days. Keeping aside your remark on selling kochuris at RS 10/-, there were many people who used to have kochuri, samosa, tea and then fled without paying. They were so well established in business, hats of to them. Thanks for sharing their stories, I recollected those days again.

With bits of narrative in class Bengali, The memories of ruins of North Kolkata, the landmarks in Landsdowne & Central Kolkata, the legends of Park Street & College Street, the cocktail of common & gourmet food brought back to life by your channel!! Kolkata is a heady mix of great institutions, culture, buildings & food!

Loved the presentation. Thank you! I personally prefer Maharaja than Maharani 🙂 . I think, their Aloo r dum is tastier.
If you are planning for Part 2 of this, may be you can cover China Town breakfast options and few more from North Kolkata.
    keep up the good work!!

This is wonderful .Flurys used to be my hangout place during my college days . Everything seems to be so nostalgic . The cuisine of Kolkata is world famous and it does break the myth that Bengalees have ' maach bhaat ' only . Your video is an eye opener to all . Wonderfully said and beautifully depicted .
    Good going
Long live the Bengali delicacies and the talented Bengalees .

My heart skipped a beat when she spoke of Prema Vilaas... ❤️
Not many know that Kolkata has huge spread of delectable and authentic South Indian joints, for the best Idlis, Dosas, Utthapams and filter coffee that one can swear by. Not just Prema Vilaas, also Ramakrishna Tiffin Home, Rao's Udupi Home, Ammini, Tamarind, Banana Leaf (all within the vicinity of Prema Vilaas), Anand... are to name a few. Fellow South Indian brethren who have tried the food at these joints never felt away from home!

Although Chirasree is a Bengali, but her bengali accent proves that she studied in other medium & didn't use Bengali to communicate with others. Only because of her profession she started learning Bengali. Her Bengali accent is poorer than AI. Many non-bengali actors/actresses dubbed in Bengali movies better than her. When a nonbengali is speaking in Bengali like this, it's fine. But it's not acceptable from any Bengali. Even if some Bengali children who born & brought up in foreign countries, can speak better Bengali & cultivate Bengali culture well. It's about mentality. Chirasree either present in English only. If it's Kamiya & she's talking like this in Bengali it's fine. Otherwise add some new anchor who can speak both in Bengali & English well @Curly Tales. If you want to touch the heart of authentic বাঙালী then rectify.

Most of the places lack hygiene. Be very careful when eating out in Kolkata as the standards are very low and generally unhealthy. If you like well used motor engine oil as your cooking medium and love wading through dog poo covered streets, Kolkata is just about alright for you, the dirtiest slum in the world.

Ms. Pal's accent, divergent from her Bengali roots, echoes the vibe of New York or Los Angeles, which is quite perplexing. Ms. Pal the anchor, who is a born bengali, speaks with an accent as if she learned bengali recently and bengali is not her mother toungue. She sounds horrible and pathethic and so fake, first be proud of your language and speak normally. Gosh....Curry Tales, Is it possible that Ms. Pal feels pressured to adopt a different accent and not sound like bengali to secure work opportunities on Curry Tales or something?
