  • This video IS special to me. I'd never been to the Aran Islands - it had been on my must-go list for 20 years. The day dawned bright and sunny and I had one of the very best days I've ever had in Ireland. I loved the Aran Islands (Inishmore) and will treasure this memory.
    * The journey is with Doolin Ferries from the village of Doolin to Kilronan on Inishmore in the Aran Islands
    * The longest part of my visit is to Dún Aonghasa, an ancient hilltop fort with a fascinating chat with the Head Guide.
    * Drone shots of a secret spot (which is NOT manmade)
    * An evening cruise along the Cliffs of Moher including how it was used in the Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.

At 14 I spent an enforced month on Iniseer in what I then viewed as a Gaeltacht Gulag. I loathed everything and everyone!!
Now at 61 sitting in my Toronto condo my heart yearns to return. Patrick you have created magic!!

That’s a lovely history, Niall. Those definites of youth do evolve. Glad to bring a little bit of magic to you - I had never been but loved it.

Thank you, Laurence. It’s a bit longer and slower but I did love the place and wanted to show it.

I was here yesterday. I'm going back in a few months to spend a night and relax on the island. Hire a bike and just not rush around it 😂. Beautiful video. I was holdong on to the wall and glancing over 🤣

I learned years ago to never plan a day trip to the Aran Islands, so you are not rushing to get the ferry. There is too much to do on a day trip. Best to spend a night and relax. The big island is also nice and quiet before/after the ferries with day trippers.

Glad you enjoyed it! It's such a beautiful place (and I did get lucky with such wonderful weather).

Brings back great memories of my trip there. We had the opposite in terms of weather up at Dun Aonghasa 😂

Oh wow! I realise I was VERY lucky to get such a good day. In the next video or two, the weather starts to come in and all the sunshiny coastal views become a bit foggy :)

Is mise Uí hAodha freisin! But an Anglesey Hughes, not an Irish one.

There’s a genealogical argument that all Hughes names have a Welsh origin so maybe not so different!
