The whole crew is here now, the story will start to heat up from here on out. Can’t wait till we get to the main battles, hope they do a good job on them.
Any episode with Seijuuro Hiko is a winner. Filler or otherwise. And all the added stuff was great character development. Edit: Sojiro's backstory is probably one of the BEST written backstories ever written in ANY manga/anime.
@@RealLifeRyan And with that haunting track from the 90s anime. Remember? Him walking all beat up and bloody in the rain, while Shishio's voice echoes in his mind - "If you're strong, you live. If you're weak, you die." Absolute cinema. It influenced a lot my writing/storytelling at the time. I've mentioned this to you before (about you writing a backstory to Seijuuro Hiko the 13th - mostly bc I'd be super interested in your take). Truth is: I wrote, staged and directed an entire 2-hour theater play (in 2006 as a school project) based on Hiko's early life, basically chronicling how he becomes the man he is. It ends with him finding Shinta and saying the line from Trust and Betrayal: "I have found a pupil. Consider yourself.... fortunate". Aaaaah, good times.
I think the bad filler is “monster of the week” type stuff. Like how in the 90s anime’s Tokyo arc had a lot of episodes with random one off villains for an episode or 2 that went down with ease because they had to return everything to the status quo by the end of the episode. I like filler like this that actually adds depth and character development to the main story so it isn’t stuff that will be forgotten in the end but just adds to it. Great episode! I loved the additions here. Also, Kamatari is best girl.
They havent really missed with the expanded story yet. I know some had issue with the two in S1 but everything this season has been great with Sakabato first strike even being one of the best episodes of the season.
I think this version might be doing a better job building up the juppongatana. I like what they are doing with Usui. Hoping his duel later is better than the 90s as well.
I really like how the extra scenes humanized Shishio's group a bit more, especially with the soldiers discussing their families. And i do think the author supervising this new series has kept the "filler" scenes from feeling out of place.
Totally agree with you on this. I don't consider this episode "fliller". I welcomed the additional content. I think it really adds to the story and makes for deeper character development and understanding of their personalities. And yeah, Kamatari is best girl! Or is she? LOL
I usually hate filler, if it’s not in the manga then I don’t want to see it, with only a few exceptions. Usually depends on the people in charge of the anime & whether they can actually write scenes that actually add to the story. Usually I’m only on board if the actually mangaka is involved in the anime and writing the scenes himself.
The thing with Kamatari is that, much like the manga, they let the cat out of the bag early so there really is no need to spoil it. The "proper" confirmation happens later but Yumi already lets it slip early in both the manga and the new anime. As for the word "filler", well, the OG anime filler is often blamed for why we dont have an OG anime Jinchu arc so from the perspective of an RK fan, I can see how that word can have negative connotations. Like, say what you want about Naruto filler, but at least that filler didn't deny fans a proper ending.
This was a pretty good episode, though it was filler, it felt familiar; like Sojiro bringing the snacks with the secret message. Looking forward to things finally popping off. Most interested in how Sojiro's story will effect me this time; he was one of my favorite characters.

Things are gonna get exciting! Thanks as always! 🙏
Thanks!
Thank you so much! 🙏

Sojiro’s story is so tagic

Yooo, I was saying this. Also, Shishio layer feels alive and larger. I like it
That smirk asking anyone who had a crush on "her" lmao

Naaa, i prefer to call it extra-content instead of filler.
Kamatari, best girl!
Yomi >>
That bamboo shoot on the foreground after that interaction between Sojiro and Aoshi is a really nice representation of Sojiro ngl.

2:37 nice try diddy 😂
Kamatari of the "large" scythe

Watch Gintama explains fillers, that anime goes over why fillers can be bad or good. It's so self aware.
If it's Naruto filler or bleach filler then you know it's filler
You know it’s not good when you need to suspend your disbelief for you to enjoy this cliche slop lol
Thanks!
