Transpiration occurs in the xylem. Transpiration occurs in the xylem. Transpiration is the movement of water from the roots to the leaves via the tubes called the xylem. Translocation is the movement of the sugar sucrose around the plant through tubes called the phloem.
The xylem cells are dead and hollow with no end cell walls. This adaptation allows water through the xylem at an increased rate, and therefore increases the rate of transpiration of water through the xylem. The molecule lignin strengthens the cell walls.
The phloem has living cells and pores in the sieve plates. This allows sugar to move around the plant through tubes called the phloem. The phloem transports sugar in two directions, but the xylem transports water in only one direction.

i couldn't memorise xylem and phloem related content because it felt there was so much of it and it was boring, but you broke it down well and you go slow and repeat the terms enough for me to really get it through my brain. i like your demonstration of the xylem and phloem within the plant too🙌 thank you for the useful video

Thank you, this is very helpful and i like the fact that you draw it which is easier to understand.

This is very helpful, but I do have to say...
4:52 Transpiration occurs in the Xylem. Transpiration occurs in the Xylem.

If transpiration (the movement of water) only goes in one direction the how come the answer for question 11 says to and from the roots, that is two directions.

xylem transport water and only go in one direction, phloem transport sugar and go in two directions

sorry you hate this, hopefully you learnt from it at least? Saying things more than once helps with understanding!
