Even though I know God loves me I have been struggling with this for a long time, drifting in and out of how to truly love myself completely the way Jesus loves me. Thank you so much for revealing the truth to us in such a clear message!

In agreement with this whole message and proverbs 19:8, 2 corinthians 6:14-15 I loosen complete and healthy self-love in my life, the lives of my family, friends, colleagues, neighbours, acquintances, opponents and the body of Christ, while loosening myself from every unequal yoke and common share with those lacking complete and healthy self-love, binding every lack of self-love in my life to the pit of hell, in the name and blood of Jesus Christ, amen and hallelujah!

@@ShepherdMinistry But would that not be contrary to the Bible verse Matthew 19:19 because the “loving your neighbor as yourself” is certainly different from “lovers of self”. If you take a look at both verses, Matthew 19:19 also contains “honor your father and mother” which would mean that the next part “love your neighbor as yourself” should be taken as something you’d take seriously in following Christ and as something positive. Also including the verse Luke 10:27 where the same is said in the same sentence as “And he answering said, thou shalt love the
Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all
thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with
all thy mimd; and thy meighbour as thyself”. Whereas the verse you provided, Timothy 3:2 has “lovers of self” in the same sentence as lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, etc. which would mean that lovers of self is translated as the act of being selfish, narcissistic, prideful, and all the negative things that come from being a “lover of self”. Lover of self in that context is certainly different from “loving your neighbor as yourself” when you take into consideration 1 Corinthians 13:4-5. Jesus said “Love your neighbor as yourself”, being patient with yourself, kind to yourself, etc so you will be able to do the same to others. The love Jesus is talking about is not the same as the love described in the verse you gave. Just like how the fear the Israelites felt about their enemies is not the same fear God talks about for us to have when it comes to Him.

@@loveismylanguage9162 Jesus loved God the father and Jesus is God the son. So in a way yes He did. Like a husband who loves His wife loves Himself. Jesus also denied himself for the Fathers will. Jesus was not having a self focus.

Here Paul tell us we can see those sins on other people, we know they are not going the right way. We can correct them, not with a condescending act but with love.
We have to be careful with self love as well, and not become a narcist. 2 Timothy 3
Then he goes and tells to look at their circle of friends, again contradicting himself.
If we say we can’t love others until we love ourselves, we are essentially saying Jesus gave us a third commandment. In fact, without realizing it, we are suggesting that to love yourself is the second greatest commandment, for we are saying it comes before the commandment to love others. We are saying that loving ourselves is a precondition to loving other people.
Notice that Jesus said, “All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments” (Matthew 22:40). He didn’t say “on these three commandments.”
I hear what you're saying. My only challenge is that, for those of us who struggle with the sin of self-loathing and self-hatred, the concept of loving others as ourselves holds little weight. If you hate yourself, you don't have much love available to your neighbors.
Being able to surrender to what God has done for us, and that He loves us and, therefore, are worthy of love, is difficult for many. It's for thee, but not for me, as it were.
@@royalair33 I also wanted to share more scripture proving the Bible never commands us to love ourselves , the Bible actually states self love is bad. We are commanded to be selfless.
Paul’s letter to Timothy assures us that loving self is a sin and not good:

I would like to conclude with comparing this Matthew 22:37-40 verse to John’s interpretation of Jesus’ commandment:
John 13:34-35 ESV
A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
As you see John never stated self love as a command in order to love others properly. If it was important John would have listed it as the greatest commandment
@@royalair33 also a side note to what you said. We are not worthy of Gods love. We are worthy of hell due to our sinful ways. We are blessed by Gods grace that is why we receive His love. We must hate our old selves in order to deny ourselves and follow Christ. Hate of old self is what drives us to repentance. If we did not hate those ways why would we turn from them? We are to become more of God and less of us. This is sanctification, becoming a living sacrifice for God. Truly selfless.
@@ShepherdMinistry That’s one thing I agree with you on. Hating your former self, because we do not want to be that person anymore after coming to know about God, His love, His judgement, His grace, and our chance of repentance to have a relationship with Him and to then follow Him. But yes you are right. We don’t deserve God’s love but yet He chooses to love us and we have to see ourselves how God would see us. I think loving ourselves but out of gratitude and humility in knowing that God created us, can help us to be better, and has our life in His hand is how I see what self love is. But when it comes to the point where it no longer is love like how God’s love is described in The Bible then thats when it becomes lover of self. Self love can be selfless, where one denies their flesh and does what The Word of God says to become more like Christ. That’s how we can love ourselves. If we learn to do that with ourselves, we’ll be more than ready to help/show others how to self love by being selfless in the way God wants us to.

The Bible says no one hates themselves. Everyone loves themselves. You feed your body everyday and you do things that you believe will bring happiness. Love is a choice not just a feeling. You choose everyday to love yourself.
Self esteem is how you feel about yourself. This is your self image. A bad self esteem and you will feel worthless and live in condemnation. We are to place our self esteem in Christ. Our identity should be in Him. This takes focus off yourself so the devil cannot trap you and condemn you.
Jesus wants you to be selfless, so you can rely on Him and not yourself. Don’t focus on self love, as I said you already do it naturally. Think what’s best according to Gods will and what’s best for others before yourself.
God said love your neighbor as you love yourself. That shoulve been the title of this message. Not Love YOURSELF. Apostle Timothy already let us know that men would become "lovers of themselves and lovers of money/pleasure". Tell us something we dont know. Stop preaching doctrines of Demons
How can you truly love your neighbor as you love yourself if you hate yourself? Hate who you are internally and externally? How can you love your neighbor fully when you are self destructive and suicidal? You have to care about to yourself not in a sense of thinking high and mighty or without humility. God is always first. However, you have to love yourself the way God loves you.
