You think sport’s built her confidence? Or maybe just her becoming an adult and growing up had something to do with it. I swear y’all just say anything.
She grew up NOT having a voice and found it when she became an ADULT and MOTHER! Bela and Marta didn't do anything for those girls psychologically. What they did do is make them into gymnastics robots that win! It was winning at all cost and the public bought into it until certain boundaries were BROKEN! I am waiting for Nadia and Teadora to finally speak their truths! I just so sick of these gymnasts living a lie! As for Dominique speaking up, I am glad you're doing it! I wish you and Dianne Durham would have spoken up two decades ago!
She was extremely shy, because of the abusive gymnastics culture. She talks about having a breakdown in the 1996 Olympics, always being nervous, having to wear Vaseline on her teeth to constantly smile. She is now trying to change that abusive culture. However, she challenged herself by majoring in “Communications” and now has decades of experience as a Motivational Speaker. In another words, her self-confidence comes from her education, career after the Olympics, motherhood and Faith. As stated in this interview, she is a mother and she will NOT be encouraging her daughters to be gymnast until this toxic culture changes.
